How you heard of LW: ez board
Character Information
Name: Galeden
Gender: male
Age/Birthday: 34 Turns, late winter
Orientation: heterosexual (though he feels it doesn’t matter now)
Rank: Lord Holder
Location: Keroon Hold
Affiliation: He can be overly protective of what is his and will fight for things he believes in. He is strong willed and extremely intelligent. The other holders anger him because some are too greedy (namely one is too greedy) and some won’t act at all (Nerat *cough cough*)
Standing: What dragonriders? They don’t exist. They are a myth that he would tell to his two turn old daughter in a story, nothing more.
Family:
Father: Jeren, previous Lord Holder of Keroon. He died from a disease about nine turns ago. The disease killed many healthy people easily. He was around the age of 53 at the time.
Mother: Gladwyn: age 61 Turns, retired Lady Holder of Keroon. When the disease hit the hold nine turns ago, she isolated herself and did not come out of her rooms for several days at a time. She is still very much isolated from the rest of the hold.
Brother: Jeadern died from the illness his father also contracted at the age of 30. He has one child, who outlived him, being raised by his brother. His wife also died as the disease was very strong. (1) Jedorn, age 16 Turns.
Sisters:
Wynedra age 41, married to a holder in Keroon, Nadiren. The hold is very prominent and known for raising herdbeasts. She herself has five children to date and another on the way.
Her children are: (1) Wynadi age 20 turns, apprentice beastcrafter. (2) Direnad age 17 turns, learning to take over for his father. (3) Nadrea, 15 turns, apprentice beastcrafter. (4) Aedren, 11 turns old. (5) Dwyren age 10 turns.
Jaeyn age 38, married to another holder in Keroon, Pendar. She lives nearby at a large holding that raises famous racing runners. Has three children currently. (1)Pendan age 16 turns. Learning from his father, not technically apprenticed. (2) Phaear age 13 turns. (3) Paeyn 9 turns of age.
First Wife: Iadora, died age 20, in childbirth. Daughter of a holder in Crom, he married her for love, which his father approved of at the time. Of course that was before his brother who was originally heir died of the same disease his father died of. His wife died shortly before the disease struck. The child did not survive.
Second wife: Eslana, age 28 turns. Niece of Lord holder of Igen, she married out of duty not love. The two do not get along. She is a tempestuous looking blonde with a very nice and shapely body. She is tall as well and stands at around 5’11”. She has a sharp tongue and is consistently unfaithful to her husband.
Children:
Galeda age two turns old. Loves her father to an extreme that drives her mother crazy. She has her mother’s light, blonde hair although having her father’s curly hair. She has the strangest blue-green eyes that are almost like the sea in color. Her father often questions her true paternity. She does not get along with her cousin, Jedorn who is fostered at the Hold as well.
Pets : He owns more runner beasts than any man on Pern, so he will not be naming them off. His favorite is a particularly pleasant riding stallion, black in color with a white snip on his nose. He is called Nox. Also he has a herding type canine, which he uses for stud. The dog is a blend of browns, black and white (much like collies in coloration) with long hair. Eyes are brown and almond shaped. The canine is also considered small at about 32 inches tall at the shoulders.
Appearance :
A tall man, Galeden, has a presence that is both charismatic and authoritative. He stands at about 6’1” and weighs around 180lbs. The man has a muscular body though not too muscular as he does not get to exercise as often as he would like. He has dark hair almost black in color that curls in small ringlets framing his masculine face. Defining said face are his long nose and amber eyes that look near to gold in color. Following his long nose down his face one comes to a pair of thin but well shaped lips that seem overwhelmed by his nose. His shoulders are broad forming a shapely back, and followed by a slim waist. He has long legs that are shaped much like a man who runs would be. Tight claves and well defined thighs.
He is not unpleasant looking but certainly not handsome either. Galeden has a very good posture and always seems to walk with a calm gait no matter the circumstances. He generally likes to keep his feet covered with a pair of very comfortable sandals when he is inside the hold. Otherwise he wears a pair of the finest hide boots. His outfits change almost daily as he has several different tunics of expensive colors. He favors his red tunic. On top of the tunic he generally wears an overcoat of gold or green overcoat. Occasionally he will wear a black one. His britches are generally black, tan or brown. There is not much variation in his style either. He would rather not take the time to worry about it.
Personality:
Typically he is a white knight kind of figure. Galeden is someone very similar to King Arthur in a way. He wants to right the wrongs of the world and give back to his own people. He cannot and does no condone the conquering of Lord Dorien’s family. Nor can he stand the inaction of Nerat’s lord holder. Somehow he finds himself alone in his efforts. Always he thinks before acting on something. He is not a passionate person when it comes to emotional outbreaks. Trust is something he feels a person must earn. Breaking his trust would ruin it for life.
He seems to have it too good for some people to handle. His wife is beautiful, he has all the land he can own and he is known for his good heart. What more could he want? Well people miss the true picture. In fact he is a great leader but a terrible person when it comes to his personal life. His wife is unfaithful, his warder is dishonest and he isn’t even sure of his own child’s parentage. Underneath his façade is a man confused. He still mourns a wife who died turns ago and refuses to fall under the guiles of a woman again now that his second wife has proven to be less than faithful. He is a workaholic at times, always focusing on the holds needs and never his personal ones. Somehow he refuses to see the truth of his wife and warder, though both may try to dispatch him. As usual he is a calm person, who though he can run things efficiently is missing something in his life that prevents him from feeling much of anything.
Galeden is one who falls for sob stories and believes in the greater good of man kind. He believes a man can change his life by choosing to be a good person and living with morality and honor. Though he seems to be a happy person on the outside, the truth is that he is still suffering in a sad and lonely place inside. His daughter is the one person in the world that brings him any form of joy.
History:
Galeden was not the first born son of his Lord Holder father. Actually he was born the youngest child. His sister Wynedra was oldest child and their brother was two turns younger than she. Jaeyn, closest in age to Galeden was a full four turns older than he. Mother had had a hard time getting pregnant the final time. She had always had a bit of trouble conceiving. Galeden was welcomed into the family on a cold winter afternoon. He began training at an early age to learn as much as he could about reading and writing. A quick study the boy would do anything to catch his father’s eye.
Unfortunately the shadow his older brother cast was enough to keep the boy hidden from his father’s sight. Silently he wished everyday his father would care for him. He realized that his father’s opinion meant little to him. Galeden’s mother and sisters were mesmerized by the young intellectual. He was smart, brave and seemed to send them on bouts of laughter. He was their little prince and they would raise him as a chivalrous fellow, not one of those self centered pigs that most men soon became. He was their prodigy. How could such a fine young man turn bad?
Galeden was not the first to be raised wholly by a mother and not a father. His father was either away on business or training his older brother to take the Lordship when he was gone. He and his brother never got along as they saw each other as rivals and rightly so. Galeden was tutored as much as his brother and then some more by the women in the family. He learned to be circumspect, genuine, charming and always a gentleman. He also knew when to speak his mind and when to let things go. Some of these things his brother would never learn. Galeden was trained to defend himself with a sword as well as a dagger.
At the age of twenty turns a horrible plague fell upon Keroon. Most of the people who fell ill with the disease died. For some odd reason Galeden and his mother never contracted it. His father and brother both died. Along with his brother’s wife, whom left seven turn old son in the care of Galeden. The boy, Jedorn, is still fostered by his uncle and grandmother. Both of Galeden’s sisters were not around to contract the disease as they were already married to Keroon holders and lived far enough away to not be exposed. He mourned his father and brother’s deaths though he did not miss their arrogance or cruel indifference toward him.
At this point the 20 turn old watched his mother take the role of Lady Holder running the hold without his father. Galeden wanted to wait till he had more experience, learned from his mother, to go before the conclave. They quickly named him Lord Holder of Keroon as was his birth right when he came before them the next turn. His mother adjusted well to not running things anymore though she kept pressing her son to think of marriage.
Galeden met his first wife at a gather. She had raven black hair and grey eyes with a thin build. He was in love with her before they married and even more so afterwards. He was 22 turns when they were married and a prospering lord holder. Keroon was doing as well as he felt. Iadora became pregnant early in their marriage but miscarried several times. Her family had a history of difficult child births. She was very slight in body and had narrow hips. Finally becoming pregnant and keeping the babe after three turns of marraige the pair expected only the best. During the birth of their child, however, she died. The babe was born dead as well. He was 26 Turns when he lost them.
Lord Galeden was never the same after that day. He is often unable to sleep and usually a workaholic. His mother made certain that he married again. A few turns after his wife's death he was remarried to Eslana. Eslana, the voluptuous blonde, niece of Lord Holder of Igen, was a woman he did not love. He was 30 Turns old when they married. Two turns into their marriage she gave birth to a daughter, Galeda. Though Galeden loves his daughter he sees few resemblances between himself and her. Often this sends him to wonder about his wife and how faithful she actually was. He had never wanted to catch her doing something immoral so he never did. He closed his eyes also to his obviously dishonest warder who was not looking out for Galeden's good.
At long last, Galeden seems to be coming to terms with his grief. His daughter makes many things easier to do. It will not be long before the chivalrous Holder begins to be stronger in other areas, possibly soon he will confront those who are being dishonest to him.
