J'mie caught the begginings of the fight and thought it best to excuse himself from the head table. "I must see to my wingriders, if you will all excuse my rudeness..." With that he stood and walked to Desta Wing's table. To those gathered there he said, "This party is about to become more like a brawl. I suggest its time for us to duck out quietly." After saying this he smiled as he seldom did, he trusted his wing to take his advice in these situations and they always passed along what was said to whoever else they saw. He worried most about the younger men, mostly his Bronze and Brown riders who could be more cocky.
He moved to the dance floor tapping one of his blue riders on the shoulder as a warning. Nothing serious was going on but the Wingleader would rather his riders were not involved in this partiular brawl. Luckily for him he was not the sort of Wingleader that would tell his wingriders to do something and not follow straight after them, so they all knew he was not going to be there longer than neccessary. He would duck out as soon as he could.

K'ton frowned at Safiya, "You're too hard on yourself. First of all, whether you trip on your way to your own flight r not wouldn't make you anymore more or less of a Weyrwoman...its whats her and here that matters," He tapped his heart and head, "And second, i hardly think your as clumsy as you assume you are. You were a much better dancer than i was out there. I don't think you missed a single step." He was tmepted to punch her gently on the arm as he might a friend who was being a little foolish, but instead gave her a quick smile.
The Brownrider took her by the hand as they walked over to the dance floor, the music drawing them into the mood; soft and sweet. He put his arms aroudn her waist, his hands resting just above her hips. He watched her dark brown eyes as they began to dance. He felt himself being pulled into the music. It was a very nice moment-of course it just had to be interrupted. "Shards." He whispered under his breath as the fight broke out and began to gain momentum. He pulled Safiya away a little. He heard one of his friends clalling him to come and watch. It was the sort of thing he might usually consider, but not now, not tonight.
"I think M'larain would tan my hide if i got you mixed up in a fight...maybe we should move out of the way a little?" He suggested, a little nervously.

As though the band could read his mind a slower song started, S’hon would have growled if he didn’t know it would draw unwanted looks his way. He leveled his ice cold glare at the players to avoid glaring at Daine, she didn’t deserve that. “I noticed that…” but he did look at her at her next words, the anger gone and surprise oozing from the expression. A smile like smirk split across his face showing it for the handsome thing that it was. “just one… for variety.” Mazbeth beamed.
((so sorry for the length, writers block is killing me.))

As much as what he said meant to her, since it was for the most part true, she still couldn't accept it. "But a Weyrwoman who cannot even walk from point A to point B while the entire Weyr is staring has no right to lead them. She should be as Weyrwoman Merda or Weyrwoman Kyparla in their confidence." Even so, he brought the smile back to her face with his wise words that she had thought to be unfitting of a--what had he called himself? right, a--roughian.
But people surprised her everyday, so she would have to keep her mind open to anything. "That's only because I've been dancing for as long as I can remember. Not only that, but it's one of my favorite things to do in my spare time." She chuckled and shook her head. "You are just as great on the dance floor, so don't even try to tell me differently." As she was lead onto the dance floor, the slow tune washed away any negative thoughts from before as she was swept into the moment.
Her arms wrapped around his neck while her chocolate eyes locked with his and her bright smile slipped onto her lips. They were only through a minute or two of the song when fighting broke out, although Safiya was still oblivious to it. If not for K'ton, she would be dancing still and in the way of harm. Luckily the brownrider pulled her aside before the fight broke out into anything too large, although nothing was sure if it would end well at all. Fights never end well, so the weyrling prayed they would come to a compromise before anyone got seriously injured.
"Yeah..." The goldrider followed K'ton out of the crowd and away from the fight where there wasn't a clear view, but enough of one that she could see what was going on. "Shards..." she breathed, seeing as this was the first fist fight she had ever seen first-hand, and at a Hatching Feast no less. What had caused them to start fighting so fast and without any warning to the rest of the room?
~~~
Daine curled her lips into half-smile and half-smirk at his reaction. Interesting...she should do this more often to be able to see that face again. The frozen glare that was usually accompanied with his cold blue eyes seemed to lighten up a bit as they began to dance, but then so did her emerald eyes that were normally so filled with angry fire but were now lowered to a fair amount of heat. The song was cut short though, and the greenrider froze as the fight broke loose.
Looking up at S'hon, she wondered if he planned on doing anything. It was just a normal fight, no big deal. This would be the best time to leave perhaps while everyone was distracted. Still, she was disgusted with the fact that those men would fight at a Hatching Feast which is supposed to be filled with merriment. Not that she should talk, but she hadn't gotten in any trouble for a month now. Speaking of which, does that mean she's not Grounded anymore?
She would have to speak to E'mion later. In the meantime, now would be a good time to get going. Checking back to S'hon, she asked, "are you staying to watch the fight? I think I'm going to go for a walk." Why did she just tell him that? And for some reason she didn't regret saying it either. She shook her head, trying to shake those thoughts from her mind. She would mull over those thoughts later, but now she needed to head out...maybe go for a swim.
((yeah, lets spice them up again. how about going for a walk n then for a swim during the fight?))
K'ton shurgged, "If you say so, but i think you hold as much diginity and confidance as either of them." He gave her a half smile. This was probably something she'd have to figure out on her own. She'd have to figure out on her own what she was or wasn't capable of. He thought more rather than less. He twirled her around, his sometimes cocky slef shining through, "Well, if a Weyrwoman commands it, i won't go against her. I must be a good dancer than." A pity ther edance was cut short. After they had left the dance floor he glanced around nervously. He wasn't sure how quickly the fight was growing and he didn't want to find out. He had an idea, "Hey Safiya, you know, sinc ethere is a brawl breaking out here, it probably would actually be safer for you to be somewhere else in the Weyr right now, right? So the Weyrlingmaster probably wouldn't mind if i took you somehwere else, to be outr of harm's way..." He said, a smile beginig nto form on his lips. Before waiting for an answer he pulled her hand, away from the Weyrhall, "D'you fancy a stoll by the beach? I've heard it just lovely here." ((Yay! Sounds like fun )
S’hon heard the scuffle just as another man trying to avoid the fight bumped into his back. The wingsecond was to much of a brick was to be knocked over by such a blow but he did not appreciate the unexpected touch, and what warmth there was in his eyes clouded over with Ice thicker then most had seen as he turned to the man and the fight.
Who ever it was who had touched him was long gone however and S’hon saw instead the fight and who was involved, L’uno… he should have known. Well it seemed the man had dug himself a hole he would have to get out of on his own wingmate or not. He did not turn back around at the sound of Daines strange statement; merely unclenching the fists he didn’t remember closing. “I think I will too… down to the beach…” he didn’t wait for her just turned back around and made his way out of the hall. Most of the crowd parted for him, almost everyone there knowing him and knowing his cold temper, those who didn’t know quickly found out with one look as they shuffled out of his way.
Once out side the hall, S’hon took the time to crack his neck and relax his fingers before turning to see if Daine was still with him. Normally he would walk alone, insist on it really but there was Maz in the back of his mind prodding him to stay with her, gently and wordlessly brushing the part of him that did not want to be alone.
