E’mion led Merda out of the hatching stands with one thought on his mind; food. If there was one good thing to look forward to after a hatching, it was the food. Moving thru the slowly growing crowd, he quickly came to the raised set of tables for the rankers from both Weyrs. Pausing before the tables, he turned to the woman who stood even with him in height.
“Would you like me to seat you? Or food first?” E’mion usually allowed the other bronzers to grab the women first and so was unused to such socialization. Where the hell was L’nuo when he needed a man to pass off on.
~~~
Amoare clung to P’resh’s arm as she looked wide-eyed around the Hall. The whole weyr was made from stone, building built up from the ground rather than into it. The effect created a maze of buildings of various sizes and she knew she would easily be lost if it were not for the crowd of people around one of the largest buildings.
Following the bronzer into it, she smiled as the smell of roast wherry and heardbeast in various gravies. That amount of vegetables and juices and wines were almost overwhelming and she could not keep her stomach from growling.
In the center of it all was a upraised stage and around that a space for the dance floor had been cleared. The tables around the area were quickly filling with people and heavy plates. Pausing mid step she pointed to the tables.
“We better hurry, they’re filling fast….”
"Agreed," P'resh said as he scanned the raised table at the head of the room. Seeing a few other Sodalis riders, he pulled her in that direction. "We'll need to sit down and claim seats before anything else, but if you happen to see Weyrwoman Kyparla before we sit, tell her congratulations on her clutch, and bow a bit. It's courtesy, you know." He hurried along, her hand in his. ~~~ "Sit first, I should think," she said politely as the wingleader showed her the Senior Table. He seemed somewhat one edge, and she tried to dissipate that feeling and patted his arm. "I haven't been to Lateo in so long, I forgot how beautiful the beaches are here. We're up in the mountains at Sodalis, you know," she said, making conversation as they weaved through people.
Mariska left the hatching sands feeling utterly happy and light. A hatching always made her feel that way. She yearned for one of her own and new that time would be soon, very soon. "M'lady?" She heard a handsome male voice knock her out of her day dreaming and she smiled. She looped her arm through G'rec's and let him lead her to the Weyrhall. They made their way through the crowds of people, the tall couple being able to see over most of them. He was still a good inch shorter than her though. She was glad to be bac kwith him. She had really missed him. "May i escort you to the table Lady Mariska." He asked playfully. She complied and allowed herself to be seated at the Sr. Table. G'rec glanced aroudn quickly. She knew he always felt a little uncumftorable aroudn all the rankers. She brought his ear down to her lips and whispered. "If you're my escort you have to sit with me. Go get us soem food and i promise we can dance soon." She smiled as she watched the back of his head diappear throug hthe mass of people.
She wondered when Kyparla would be coming. She couldn't wait to congratulate the Weyrwoman on such an excellant first clutch. Two Bronzers were always help to a Weyr. She nodded to Merda and E'mion for the second time that day. "The hatchign went quite well don't you think. Savath and Weyrwoman Kyparla should be quite proud." Her full lips drawn into a shining smile. Now if she could only get some of that wonderful wine she was smelling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
A'sero entered the hall happily. This was his favorite part of hatchings. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the event itself, but here were some of his favorite things brought all into one. Girls, dancing and wine. He sat himself down at the Regular Desta table, nodding to his Wignmtes and the strangers alike crowded into the hall. He wodnred if Yuri was anywhere nearby. He wouldn't mind a dance or two...he wanted to see if she could...without leading that is. He waited for J'mie as well, he knew the wignelader wasn't big on social evens and would probably spend the entire night beign respectful to the leaders, and Mariska, of course.
He had noticed the Jr. back with her Helios beau and doubted J'mie would be so pleased by their renewal as a couple. It was just like J'mie to start crushing on such an unavailable. He wrestled with whether or not he should tell the Wingleader he'd once slept with her, but decided to push it out of his mind. He grabbed a skin of wine and looekd around for the nearest girl who'd do well for a dance. He also wondered when some of the new Weyrlings would be coming...not for a little while he supposed, not unti lthe draongs were to sleep, but congradulations were certainly in order to them as well.

J'mie arrrived, as one of the best dressed people at the weyr, with his usual cool style. he was almost aloof and certainly looked like the ranker he ought to be. He walked purposefully over to the Desta table not noticing any looks he recieved from the women around...he was not about to be their next coonquest... he had enough trouble as it was. Seeing that A'sero had beat him there he smiled.
"Wonderful hatching wasn't it? always takes me back tto the day I impressed... which was so long ago you were probably still clinging to your creche nurses." He was about to go get some wine when he asked. "I am suprised to see you did not bring a woman with you to such an event." He wondered at the younger man's desire for so many women. J'mie supposed he was the strange one...four women in 36 turns was hardly promiscuity. He couldn't help if he believed in loving as more than a desire but also an emotional connection and that was why he was alone and A'sero was not.
He believed in love, strangley enough for a man with so few oddities. Love was something to live and die for, not the love people talked about, all idealized and lustful....no, he meant the love that was strionger with each passing moment, the kind that swept you into its grasp and you could never leave whether you died from it or not... the sort of love that lasts well into death. Dragons understood that sort of love for their lifemates. Humans seemed to have a harder time of grasping the concept. Promise me you will dance. I don't think i want to. But your sucha good dancer J'mie... Well I...I always did enjoy dancing... J'mie, you know she is never coming back...no one returns from their grave.
Aye, I do know that...but its hard to dance with other women...no one fits....no one knows where exactly she used to reach in height and how her head feltleaning on my chest during slower songs. None of teh women here understand my complete and total loss. They want to take me to their beds as a man who has few women...and they want to because I seem like a novelty to them. If you are going to be melancholy all night you might as well leave the feast. Just like Gavanth not letting him feel sorry for himself. Fine he would dance but only with people who seemed to want to dance and nothing more.

Daine entered the Dining Hall for the Hatching Feast, although she didn't know why. You're such a downer, mine. The greenrider growled. I am not! You should be happy I came. Besides, there was going to be dancing...and she loved to dance. No one's going to ask you if you are in such a foul mood. Besides, you never told anyone you love to dance. Had the green been in the Dining Hall, Daine would have been sure to glare daggers at Hers. But she wasn't, lucky green, and her anger had to be shoved aside. Just stop teasing and at least let me watch the dancing in peace. You're so much happier when you're drunk... Wes mumbled. Daine caught the few words that counted unfortunately. What was that? Nothing, dear. Just go sit and watch. The greenrider found the Helios Table, but also found most of the Wing sitting there. What else had she expected? Of course the Helios Wing would sit there. Hopefully before anyone there could spot her, she found herself a seat elsewhere and away from all the crowds of people. This could be fun....or so she told herself. Sitting back in her seat, her fiery emerald eyes reflected the people happily chatting with one another as they each passed her by. Once the music started, who knew...maybe she might join in...if she was really in a good enough mood. She had finished all of her chores, changed S'hon's bandages, and helped him with his chores. She was free the rest of the night and this was hte best place to be as any. * * * "Hey! Look at the party in here!" K'mar laughed and strode through the Dining Hall. He and the Ardeo Wingleader had arrived together to see the excitement of another Hatching. They never got boring, and K'mar just loved dancing. Everyone seemed happy on these occasions, and he wasn't going to turn down an offer to go to one. As he scanned the Dining Hall, he could pick out a good few others from Sodalis that came to enjoy the merriment. "So where shall we sit?" The bronzer didn't have to look hard before pulling his superior towards the nearest table. "Ah, a fine seat. Now you better go find yourself a lady dance partner." He nudged the Wingleader, hoping to get the man on the dance floor. If K'mar did find a pretty lady he would surely ask her to dance, but right now he was specifically focused on his Wingleader who needed a girl more than he did right now. So...who would the lucky lady be?

((Now will i play all my charries...hmmm...HG, would you like L'kel to come with Morelia? ) Mariska looekd fro mfrom her seat as G'rec came with the food. She noticed a figure out of the corner of your eye. "G'rec, darling," She asked softly, he could be touchy on these subjects. "Yould you mind horribly if i steal a few dances with some Destan men?" She asked, dark eyes bright with wine and the after hatching light. He shrugged, "Fine, i guess i owe you that. But you know, we have some good men in Helios as well." She raised an eyebrow. Mine, could you please ask the rider's of Gavanth and Kaluth if their respective riders could spare a dance for the Jr.Weyrwoman? She asked of Zramuth. Of course. But what about Rohanoth's? Ever since G'rec had cheated on her, the Queen refused to say his name and spoke of him spitefully. Maris knew that her gold prefred the Desta dragons anyways. He has me for many other dances. Pity.Well, nothing would ruin her mood tonight. She wondered if she could push her luck by dancing with some of the good looking visitors of Sodalis. She had enjoyed her stay there a few months ago quite well. But, G'rec was being lenient, and she would push him too hard. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A'sero noticed J'mie come in and moved over a little for room. He let out a short laugh. "J'mie, if you bring a date, than you're stuck with her, but if you come free, you get to taste around." He smiled blue eyes dancing. He nodded to the Wignleader, "Now you, my good man, should have a dance. Any girl catch your eye?" He asked quickly. J'mie would probably go have to make his respectful rounds at the ranker's table later, but until then, A'sero would make sure he had fun, even if he didn't want to. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Zylaera rubbed her eyes as she entered the hall. It seemed people were already seated. It had taken a while to get Carsetih to sleep, and she wouldn't get to stay long...but perhaps a bit of food wouldn't do her any harm. She noticed her fellow Weyrbrats...or her ex-fellow Weyrbrats and moved to sit with them, but then noticed a table where the new Weyrlings, liek her, were begining to show. She sighed, and sat with her new group. She smiled at them. She look around at all the other riders, from Sodalis and Lateo alike. She was one of them now. Se picked at the food on her plate. She wasn't really so hungry anymore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Or'in came into the hall several minutes late, as Keth had kept chattign with, instead of falling asleep, but he was here now. He looked around for Verity. They would be dragnriers together, now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D'len scowled as he entered the hall. Celosia, gave him a reassuring smile, but he continued scowling. His mate had insited he come, lighten up a bit and all, have some fun. He looked at the new Weyrlings nd found himself wondering which wouldn't be there in two turns time. One or two or even three would be missing...and nothign could stop that. Why even celebrate, one by one, they would die. Everyone would die. He sat down next to his Weyrmate with some friends from Sodalis, but only touched his wine. Ever since he had-had not come back, he had been like that. His dark eyes shadowed, even more than usual. Take you're mind off her. Quith urged him. Take my mind off of her! He exploded angrily to his blue. She was my daughter, and i was her father, and her Asst. Weyrlingmaster. I was in charge of her, and i let it happen. It wasn't you're fault. He didn't asnwer, he knew it was, he knew it was his fault. He reached for another skin of wine.

((That would be fine...))
J'mie smiled at A'sero's answer. "At least I know your still thinking about having a good time yourself. Before I get to enjoying myself perhaps I should have a bit more wine?" J'mie caught a drudge's eye to bring him a bottle. "Thank you." He added as he poured himself a glass of red. "Ahh just what I need." Before anyone could say a word he had downed a glass, and had begun to pour another. It was rare that J'mie drank a lot of wine. He was however trying to enjoy himself and tod o that he had to forget certain things and inhibitions, wine seemed to help him get a bit looser than normal.
Gavanth interrupted his rider's thoughts, The Lady Mariska asks that you spare her a dance. Does she now.....well we shan't be rude. Tell her that it would be my pleasure to dance with her. Golden Zramuth, mine would like nothing more than to dance with your beautiful rider. The Bronze was being his normal self... he liked to flatter Golds. What are your plans for tonight? I was goign to look at the stars fro my ledge but if you would like some company my Queen... He let it up to her. She was allowed to say whom she wanted to see her and whom she did not.
"Looking back at A'sero he was once again straight faced, as he downed a second glass of red. "Well it looks like I'll be dancing after all..." J'mie waited patiently for the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader to show, after congratulating him he would need to get on the dance floor and warm up.

Morelia had decided to meet L'kel at the Gather. Naraleth wanted to visit old friends and it just made sense to take her. Her Gather dress was bothering her so she tugged at it uncomfortably. The dress was an emerald green with a form fitting bodice with a skirt that flowed out from the bodice gently. She felt a bit nervous about going to Lateo with L'kel actually. Morelia had many 'old friends' at Lateo and many of them were still very nice men who she would want to dance with. She knew how jealous he could get...well he would ahve to do a round with the Queen riders wouldn't he? She waited in the entranceway, her hand resting on her hip while the other messed with one of the strands of hari that had come out of their binding. Lateo... the Weyr she had grown up in. How it had changed in 26 turns. Wow...that long ago. She had lived in Sodalis ten turns more than she had lived in Lateo. Now she knew she was getting old.

S’hon wasn’t in the best of moods despite the hatching though he had to admit that it had helped… a little. There will be dancing. Mazbeth prodded again, but S’hon shook him off, not for me the bronze huffed, S’hon had been particularly grumpy ever since the one night with Daine, he couldn’t see why, she was a pleasant enough person when she was drunk and the bronze for one really liked that green of hers. Come on, what is the point in going if your just going to be grouchy the hole time? S’hon did not answer as he entered the busy hall, holding the door open for the couple behind him.
Too bad for him, the male of the couple recognized him from that very night and smiling widely placed a hand on his shoulder. “so going to do anymore dancing tonight S’hon?” he stopped smiling a moment later at the look in the Bronzers eyes. Before he could remove is hand from S’hons shoulder S’hon reached up and taking hold of it himself put the man on the ground with a series of simple though painful wrist and finger locks. He left him then moving to his regular seat behind the door that offered a good view of the goings on wile still keeping his back to the wall and the people away from him.
Though he was content with playing the antisocial ice cube Mazbeth was not. Looking though his riders eye the bronze caught sight of Veralidaine, whom S’hon had been looking at just a moment ago before turning resolutely away. The bronze did not waist his time talking to his rider on this instead contacting Wesayath good evening lovely green. I was just noticing your rider’s decision to stay away from people on this happy night… I’m afraid mine has chosen the same path… but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could get them to… I don’t know… dance? sly, sly dragon.

With their dragons sleeping soundly side by side in their new barracks T’mor and T’mar made their way into the crowded dining hall. Both where beaming, practically glowing with happiness. And though T’mar made his way to their old table head held high, T’mor hesitated scanning the crowd. He could not see the woman he was looking for there where too many people and he wasn’t exactly sure what she looked like. His smile waved slightly in disappointment until he saw someone else.
Making his way though the crowd to the bronze rider he had spoken to briefly before T’mor pulled the mans sleeve until he looked down, saying only, “green.” As he continued to smile as a child should, only a slight hit of foreboding and fear in his too grown up eyes.
Reaching his old table T’mar scanned the faces looking for one girl in particular fingering something in his pocket. He was told she hadn’t impressed he just hoped this would make her feel better. “Has anyone seen Rylene?” he finally asked.
****
T’sum was happy despite himself, waving to familiar people and allowing himself to be pulled along by his wingsecond. He always loved Hatchings and the dancing was always worth watching. Rolling his eyes as K’mar found them seats he shook his head as the man mentioned a dance partner. “I think I’ll just watch for now K’mar…” it was good to be home and it didn’t hurt as much as he thought it would but he still couldn’t bring himself to dance. “Why don’t you go find someone? Tell you what if she has a cute friend that needs a partner I will oblige.” Knowing his luck that would be exactly what would happen.
He flagged down a purity waitress, not even noticing how attractive she was, and after she filled there glasses of wine toasted to his wingsecond. “To a wonderful hatching.” Before he sipped at the glass.

Kyparla looked out into the see of faces, a smile etched across lovely lips. The red and gold of her dress gave off a lush shine in the dim glow light. Tighting her grip on her Weyrleader's arm, she took a step foreward. Perhaps they shouldn't have stayed so long talking with J'ren.
"Whats wrong?" The blonde man whispered quitely in the small woman's tiny ear, smiling. G'allahar had reason to smile, it was a decent first clutch. And Lateo was his, as was her Weyrwoman.
"Nothing, I'm just happy." Unconcously the redhead touched her hand to her stomach and scanned the crowd. "Would you mind getting a glass of wine for me? Red."
"Not at all Lady Kyparla."
~~~~~~~~~~
R'lan pushed his way through the gathering crowd, making his way to Helios's table quickly. He had no reason to rush, his seat would be saved but the wine wouldn't be. His hand reached for the chair, ready to pull it out even as he greeted his wingmates.
"You son of a wher..."
Hearing a familier voice, the brown rider grinned turning around. "J'yse... you good for nothing dray." The brothers hugged heartily, slapping each other on the back.
Rylene slowly slipped her way into the Weyrhall. She was embarrassed for coming, but she just couldn't keep herself away from a Hatching feast. her eyes scanned the crowed, but to no use. She could barely see over the shoulders of most of the crowd. Scowling she tried to think. The food! That’s where he'd be. Rylene felt a mixture of feelings when she though of him. Tomar, now T'mar. She felt bad for not Impressing, but that hadn't kept her sad for long. She knew her chances had been slim.
Glancing around Rylene forced her way through the heavily crowed hall. She mad it to the food tables and filled a plate with enough food for two. Rylene didn't realize how much a Hatching could affect someone’s hunger! Slipping through the crowd again, Rylene spotted T'mor. Guessing that he would be with T'mar , Rylene headed his way....
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Jith was sleeping, finally. It seemed like eternity before the cute little green had fallen asleep. Monara checked around the Weyrhall. She noted that the food was going fast and so scurried over to get some good pickings before they were gone. After piling her plate, Monara headed over to a T'mar's table. Now that she was a Dragonrider she could start hanging out with others...well ones that were going to be in her class.
Monara sat down next to T'mor. "Hay...what did you guys Impress? I know that sounds sort of rude. I was just sort of out of it during the Hatching. rescuing Jith, my green, took the rest of my attention in the end." She smiled. Hoping that they would move away or insist on her moving. She really needed to make some friends.

The Bronzers of Desta would be honored. Zramuth replied airily. Who wouldn't be honored to dance with Hers? To Gavanth she said, Soem company would not be bad... She said slowly, not wanting to seem to eager, but the Gold did enjoy spending time with the Wingleader's bronze. She shuffled her wings slightly, preening as she waited for him.
Mariska smiled, now she had several dances ligned up, this was going to be fun. She noitced Kyparla coming up with G'llahar. She tried to catch the Weyrwoman's eye and gave a warm smile. She mouthed "Congrats" and then turned back to the table, waiting for Kyparla to join the group. G'rec raised an eybrwo at her and whispered, "It wasn't that big a clutch, i'm sure Zramuth'll do better." Mariska glared at him and just resisted giving him a sound whack. She hissed back, "It was a marvelous first clutch, Zramuth is Jr. so don't say such think, albeit her clutch will be good, and try to behave yourself, can you?" He shrugged slightly but shut up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
L'kel spotted Morelia after several minutes and made his way over to her through the crowds, pushing people aside politely yet firmly. He swept her into a firm embrace and then transintioned to put a steady ar maround her waist. "Anywhere in particular you want to sit?" He asked, raising his voice slightly over the din.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zylaera scanned the crowds. Where were Hanen and Ryelene? She hadn't really found out who had Impressed or not as she had been one of the first too go. She spotted Ryelene heading over towards those two boys she had seen around sometimes. She exused herself from her current table to join them. Many of her Weyrbrat friends were seated there. Had they not Impressed then? She poked Rylene in the arm, "So uh, you enjoy the hatching?" She said cautiously. If her friend hadn't Impressed she didn't want to rub it in her face. "Have you seen Hanen or..." She wondered if he had a new name now. her pretty eyes looked quizicvally. She had to admit, she was feelign a little all over the place since the Impression, too many emotions, she guessed. She saw Monara and smiled, "So you Impressed did you?" She wondred if maybe she and Monara could bunk together. It would be nice to room with soemone she already knew.

One of the boys at the table just looked at T’mar before pointing over his shoulder. T’mar knew of how Rylene was teased on a regular bases by the boys… he only hoped that would stop once they realized he was her friend… most didn’t want to get on his bad side. So still smiling as though he hadn’t noticed the boy’s rudeness he looked over his shoulder to see Rylene heading towards T’mor who was trying to talk to one of the bronzeriders. The evil grin widening on his face T’mar turned around and tried to tip two toward the girl, not that it made any difference for all of the noise the people around them where making.
Coming up behind her T’mar reached up placing his hands over her eyes, “guess who?” he made his voice much lighter, higher pitched like a girl though it was obvious that it was not a real voice. He shook his head at the other girl coming there way and poking her in the shoulder, that grin telling her not to give him away… not that she should have troubled guessing.
T’mor looked over his shoulder as Rylene came up to him, he smiled but said nothing as he continued to pull on the bronzeriders sleeve, lightly so as not to stretch the fabric but hard enough so he would know the new rider was there. When he heard yet another voice come to him he did not turn around to much, just moving his eyes to see another girl with them. All he said then was “green” pointing to himself and “brown” pointing to T’mar who he now noticed paying much more attention to Rylene in his game. He continued to smile at Monara, he had seen her come out with her green not too long after he had with his. The smile on his face and in his eyes where the best congratulations he could give her as he had already spoken more then he normally did.
T’mar on the other hand never missed an opportunity to talk. Hands still on Rylenes eyes he spoke to Monara in the same fake high pitched voice, “congratulations Monara I assume she is sleeping? Eat and sleep, eat and sleep, the other riders said they where worse then children…” he stopped talking as he remembered that Rylene had not impressed… well maybe his gift would make her feel better.

Yuri came to the hatching feast dressed in formal male attire rather then a feminine dress but she managed to look stunning none the less. She had missed her own hatching feast, being too hungry and too infatuated with her brown to tare herself away from his sleeping form. But she was determined to have some fun at this hatching feast, though she wasn’t sure if she was going to leave with anyone.
Waving at a few people she knew and a few she knew she looked around for one rider in particular. Finding him Yuri moved that way, stopping on occasion to talk to others before she finally got there. “Good evening A’suro… J’mie, No dates?” she looked the wingleader over with a bit more detail when he downed an entire glass of wine and began to pour another, that was not what she expected. He was handsome… would be quite the catch, but Yuri was good enough at reading people to know that he was in it for a long relationship. A desire she could respect even if she couldn’t give it just yet, someday perhaps but not yet.
***
Corra came in looking more beautiful then most had ever seen her. She had managed to finish her hatching dress just in time as the shimmering golden fabric with embroidered silver and beaded pearls, made her look even more like a gold dragon in human skin. She had let her hair hang down though she had two golden ribbons holding two accenting braids in place amongst the wavy brown. Her satin slippers scraped against the stone as she moved, floating towards the head table.
The Jr. Weyrwoman dipped into a low curtsy to the Weyrwoman and the Weyrleader as she looked up at them through her down cast eyelashes. “a splendid Hatching Milady, reminiscent of my own impression.” She looked up smiling a true smile. Every once and a wile her kindness was not motivated by protocol and this was one of them, she was truly very happy and that only made her look more beautiful. Almost as an afterthought she turned to Mariska, her sir but still a jr herself. “Mariska… you are looking lovely tonight…” she would be nice… but she would not forget the woman’s rudeness the other day.
