Amoare couldn’t help but smile almost reassuringly as P’resh added the ‘please’. She had heard many women complain about the handsome rider having no manners at all, but Amoare was noticing them more and more. She would have never guessed, however, that it was because of her that they were becoming more apparent.
Hearing that the bronzer would not tell H’mei, Amoare pushed aside her hesitation and reached for the drink. Everyone in the room seemed to have a glass of wine, why couldn’t she? Surely just one would not get her into trouble.
Finding her long-fingered hand in his, she turned to him mid-sip and caught his eye. Swallowing the smooth drink she smiled.
“mmm. Yes I’d like that, though I warn you again I’ve never danced before.” She said with a smile. She’d warned him several times before they even came but he had seemed persistent that she come anyways, not that she wouldn’t have come if the chance was offered.
~~~
E’mion did not fail to notice how quiet G’llahar remained as the weyrwomen spoke of the Weyr, apprentices and the possibilities of fostering some of the children to mix up the bloodlines. Finding the older woman turned to him once again, however, he leaned a little toward her to hear her soft words over the din of the crowded hall. Hearing her words, he couldn’t help but let a soft chuckle out of his lips. Standing, he pushed in his chair and leaned over the back of Merda’s to whisper a reply in her ear.
“He is a good man. Perhaps we can speak more of this a little farther away.” Standing straight again, he turned to address all three of those still sitting. “Merda is not the only one who has grown cold.” Offering a hand to the older woman, E’mion was almost surprised to find himself filling the role that the Sodalis Weyrleader should have been playing.
“Perhaps we can warm it with a short dance?” He did not fill the role to be polite, however, but to simply escape Kyparla’s gaze. If she was going to study him with those hypnotizing green eyes, he was going to have a hard time remaining civil. He had to put some space between them. Maybe even escape to his own wingriders.
~~~
As the song ended, L’nuo bowed deeply to the woman he had stolen before handing a wink to the man he had taken her from.
“Lovely dancer that one. Keep a good hold on her.” He said as he walked off before the man could reply. The woman, thankfully, pulled the man into another song before he could go after L’nuo. Such a thoughtful woman.
Returning to the table for another glass of wine, he found a young boy sitting here with a nearly finished bubbly pie in front of him. Sitting next to him, he smiled and held out a hand.
“Hey there young man. Name’s L’nuo. You are?” he asked friendly as he raised his hand and ordered a meatroll for himself. The boy looked up before picking up a cloth nearby and wiping the messy juices from his face.
“Tschermak, sir.” He said, eyes wide on the little face. L’nuo couldn’t help but smile as he turned his head back to the dancing crowd.

"Indeed, I think so, Wingleader." Standing, Merda took his hand. "But you better know, I can't do some of those crazy moves I see your Wingrider doing over there," she said, waving toward L'nuo. She chuckled, walking to the dance floor with him. Once they had arrived, she turned to him, accepting his lead. Deciding to be bold, she asked, "So, E'mion, how is it that you lost Savath to that...moron, anyway, if it's not too bold. It's obvious that she likes you the better of him." They twirled. ~~~ "And how many times must I remind you that I don't care if you've danced or not, Amoare?" P'resh asked, fork ready to fill his mouth with food. It had been a while since he'd been to a Lateo Hatching, and he was famished. "And you better get a good bite to eat before we start dancing. It takes a alot out of a person, you know." He smiled when he saw that she being daring and taking a sip of wine. It wasn't that he intended to pull the wool over her eyes, far from it indeed. She was simply very inhibited by others, and he thought that she needed more independence. It will come with the Queen, Kaunth remarked. And how would you know, O Great One? P'resh retorted. I just do.

Morelia feeling more comforted she wondered if it would be rude to leave so early. "Do you think anyone would mind if we left.. I mean especially if you left? The celebration is only halfway through..." She would stay f he needed to. As soon as she could though she needed to go back to the Weyr and see her daughter. Suddenly very aware of how much she missed the child. "When we go back I need to see Berelia. Then I'll feel better..." Morelia had never been very maternal to her sons it was so unnatural for the green rider to be so dependent on the little girl.
Not knowing if L'kel would ever understand that sort of attachment to a child. Then how would he... she wasn't about to have anymore children at her age and he was with her. Suddenly she felt very selfish indeed. He had to put up with so much for her.... and she so little.
-----------------------------
J'mie poured the Goldrider her wine. "Of course Lady Mariska." He was being as courteous as possible. He filled his own glass with some juice rather than wine. He didn't want to be drunk. It wouldn't change the truth. He would have to face his past again and again. Knowing he had perfect love and that it was gone. Just every now and again he would like to forget.
"To Savath's first clutch." J'mie said before taking a sip of his juice. Then he wondered what he would do if left alone with the brownrider perhaps he should go dance with a drudge or something just to get away from the man. Well he could at least try to be civil.

Smoothing the dark green dress against her stomach, Ollandra stepped into the Weyrhall. She sighed and looked around. Things seemed to be progressing as usual and for the most part everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Her hair was piled up on the crown of her skull and Olla pushed a strand back from her face. Sharding hair never did what she wanted to. Her dress, all clean lines, hung about her body as if it had been made for her. And in fact it had, it was a deep forest green with gold shot through about the color and hems. Ollandra always wore the Weyr's colors at formal occasions.
Well now, it was time to see how the youngsters were enjoying themselves. Back on her ledge, Shimeath snorted sleepily. She still wasn't pleased that since she had stopped rising the bronzes had mostly ceased their adoration of her. Neither have you. Shot back the dragon, Olla laughed inwardly. There was very little she could hide from the Queen. Ah my love we don't need them. She could feel Shimeath drift back off to sleep and in fact curling up against the warm furnace that was her dragon sounded much better than being here. But she did have to make an appearance. For Kyparla's sake as much as any other reason, she did want to congratulate the young woman on the hatching.
Ollandra sighed again and looked about the Hall, she felt out of place, old, a relic of an age gone by. And how ridiculous that, she wasn't that old, it just felt as if she'd lived twice her turns. She smoothed the dress at her stomach again, at least she hadn't gone to fat like many women her age did. A pang hit her as she looked about the room, this was going to be harder than she thought it would.

After Mariska's toast... seeing as he didn't want to be left to speak with G'rec he saw Olllandra enter. Being as always teh polite type he saw she had no escort and immediately felt awful. It must be hard to attend such a festvity after her Queen so recently stopped clutching. "Mariska, A'sero, G'rec, if you will all excuse me. There is a lady who needs an escort."
J'mie was still getting over his deceased weyrmate after eight turns so how anyone could ever get over being the senior weyrwoman and then suddenly not be was beyond him. He was in his prime so there was nothing for him to worry about. He walked brisquely across the room, and bowed slightly to the older woman. "Lady Ollandra, would you liek some company?" He was a good guy. Of course people said his wing was a bunch of pretty boys but at least they weren't rough necks without any courtesy. "I have no one to escort you see and it would be a pleasure to escort you." He liked the woman. She had been an excellent Weyrwoman and though he wasn't good friends with any of the gol riders he did try to always respect them.

Ollandra nodded slowly, grey eyes searching over J'mie. The Desta Wingleader was a good man, if on the quiet side. "Company would be most welcome, how is your wing J'mie?" She may not be Weyrwoman any more but some habits never left and Ollandra had made a longtime habit of keeping track of the riders and their wings, doing her best to know them all as well as she could.
It was nice of him to come over as he did, there really was no obligation there but still she was glad for the familiar face. She wondered briefly if there were so many Sodalis riders here, whether Merda had made it or not. Ollandra reached for Shimeath with the question, but the Queen still slumbered. Best not to wake her, she decided quickly, focusing her eyes back on the bronzerider. "Is Desta still doing well in drills?"

Mariska smiled as the Sr.Weyrwoman..er ex-sr,Weyrwoman entered she was a little late..but she probably had her reasons. Mariska would probably always look up to her for guidance as a Goldrider, even though that was no longer he officialy capacity. "Yuri, G'rec, We'll be back soon." She smiled, leading the blonde wingsecond away. "We have to go say high to someone first if you don't mind." She sid as a statement. "Then we can dance." "Alright, as long as i get my dance," A'sero said teasingly.
They walked up to Ollandra and Mariska tapped her gently on the shoudler. A'sero hung behind, not quite as comftorable with rankers as his dance partner or his Wingleader, even if he did liek to think he was a charmer to anyone women of any age or rank. "Ollandra, m'lady?" She paused on what to say to her old mentor, "Did you enjoy the clutch? We should be rather proud of Kyparla and Savath, shouldn't we?" They were sort of in the same boat. The Weyr currently only had one clutching Queen and they were both on either ends of it; Mariska hoped that Zramuth would hurry up and rise soon. But, she reassured herself, being a late bloomer didn't necessarilly mean her clutches would be any smaller.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Its alright, I can go. I'll just make sure Zyth tells D'lian. We're supposed to look after our wingmates, even if you weren't more than that, they'll understand." He tried to smile reassuringly, but smiling at all was a new thing to him, so he hoped it didn't look like a grimace. "Yah, we can go see Berelia. I'm sure she'd like to see you too." He didn't mention the fact that it was a little late, but that was ok. He knew how close a bond the mother and daughter had, even if he didn't understnd it. He started, B'leren, Morelia...Berelia. He wondered, but now wasn't the time to question. He would ask her another day. He thought the girl sweet, he didn't ever think he would really become a father to her, at least not completeley, but he did want to be there for her.
He had thought about it, he probably wouldn't have kids of his own, unless it was in one of those rare flights with female Greenriders. But. the more he thought about it, the more he realized that didn't upset him. He probably would be a horrible father anyways. being with Morelia and Berelia was enough to satisfy the rather small amount of caring and compassion he contained. Zyth, can you come pick us up. And tell Vasyth we have to go. One of our Wingmates is feeling badly and i'm helping them back. Of course.
"Arlight, Zyth's coming its all going to be ok. Just tell Naraleth that she can between home to her wallow if she wishes. We'll double up so we can stay together. Ok?" He was good at taking charge, and he just hoped he didn't sound to commanding. It was a leftover of being a Wingsecond for several years and having no personal life. He had been his job and her had to sort of get over that now.
As they reached the rim, a large Bronze popped into sight and L'kel held out a hand to Morelia, "Need a boost?"
Ollandra smiled kindly at the younger woman and nodded her head slowly. "Oh it was a good clutch indeed, a promising start for sure. Kyparla and Savath will do just fine. It was a fine hatching." She tweaked Mariska's nose then in an almost fillal gesture. "I do hope you finished copying those skins before you came here." Ollandra's grey eyes glinted, "You always did slack on doing those." Smiling once more she felt Shimeath wake up again. After you are done there I'd like a bath. Of course my dear.
Sighing, Ollandra pushed that stray strand of hair back and peered about the room. "Speaking of Kyparla, where is your partner in crime?" The two girls had always been like daughters to her, for better or worse. And excepting on formal occasions she treated them as such. She could feel Shimeath drifting off to sleep once more and Ollandra longed to join her. But duty came first, then she could go back and take a nap.
"Give me a chance to talk with Kezna and Fortine... I don't want to spring anything on them... We'll hear about it for a good month if I do. We can make the arrangements in three days, that sounds perfect to me." The gold rider took another drink of her wine, smiling as Merda mentioned old and cold. She didn't notice the presence of Ollandra... she did feel her absence though, it added a bit of sadness to the head table... her space was empty.
"You are far from old, Lady Merda." Smiling G'llahar turned back toward Sodalis' Weyrwoman and addressing the drudge. "More wine as well. Lady Kyparla, anything you wish?"
"No, thank you." The gold rider flashed a smile at the young woman before she hurried off to the serving tables along the far wall of the Hall. Her smile faded though as she watched the bronze rider lead Merda off toward the dancing floor. Kyparla pushed the plate of wherrie away from her, untouched...
G'llahar, happy of the reprive from the other bronze rider's company, set back in his chair, content to watch and drink... After several long moments of silence a thought struck him though.
It took a moment to break the silence, to clear his throat as he stood a hand braced at the back of the Weyrwoman's chair... his fist clenched. "Lady Kyparla... would you do me the honor?" It wasn't proper that Kyparla was the only gold rider not dancing... at her own hatching no doubt.
"You had only to ask..." The redhead placed her hand in his as he helped her to her feet and led her to the dancing.
Mariska smiled at the way the Weyrwoman reprimanded her, as she used to," Oh, i'll get them done tomorrow morning, promise." She glanced around at Ollandra's question and noticed the absenec of the redhead from the head table. She noticed after glancing around the dance floor for a few moments, "Oh, there she is. It seems she's finally got a dance with her Weyrleader. And, i'm araid i have a partner as well, so if i may excuse myself.."She smiled, ducking out, "Ollandra, J'mie," She waved back at the two as she and A'sero took their palces for the dance. She was almost alway pleased to see Ollandra...unless it involved extra duties or mindless copying...well, even then it wasn't so bad.
"Speaking of Kyparla and the Weyrleader," A'sero asked, "Watcha think about him," The music began to start up, "Well, he hasn't done anything so bad as of yet. I guess he's ok. I don't think he'd be my very first choice for a flightmate...but the dragon chooses, and it could be way worse." She thought of Bronzers like J'daer and shudered. It wouldn't be so bad with J'mie, or even A'sero...heck, even E'mion would be ok, but of course, Zramuth would choose.
She nodded over to Kyparla and G'llahar, so the Wingsecond led her over gradually to the Weyrleaders. She spoke in a low voice to the redhead, as the blonde Bronzer spun her once, "So you finally dancing i see?" She smiled, moving quicker as the music picked up a bit of tempo. "This is quite the party in your honor."
Morelia was perfectly content to let him organize as long as she could go back to Sodalis she would be happy. Naraleth was perfectly content to go home whenever and was not jealous that Morelia would be riding Mnemozyth. we will meet you at home darling...be safe. The Green was unworried... she knew how emotional Morelia could get.I will be there. Do not worry. Make sure Mnemozyth takes good care getting you home.Naraleth added.
"Thank you." She said sweetly as they made their way to the great Bronze. "I could certainly use a leg up." Naraleth was nowhere near Mnemozyth's size. She examined the difference in her mind a moment. Morelia was not happy that she had been affected so by B'leren after all the time she had been telling herself he was horrible she was still falling for the same old tricks. It must be the familiarity. She couldn't tell him about Bera... he might want her fostered at Lateo... and she couldn't handle that. After those thoughts she found herself on Mnemozyths back waiting for L'kel to mount.
------------------------- J'mie was quiet while MAriska had interrupted their conversation though he did keep up with the conversation and looked perfectly comfortabel with both women, as A'sero seemed not to be...that was odd to him. After Mariska had dashed off to the dance floor he answered Ollandra's questions. "Desta wing is doing very well. We had some issues with an injury and a couple pregnancies but that all seems to be clearing up...ina good way. Distance seems to be more of a problem for my Wing, though if your interested I ahve come up with some new flight patterns for threadfall." He wondered whether the woman really wanted to know all that... it could be boring to some.
"Are you hungry Lady?" He asked, wanting to get her seated if she was. there was no reason to keep her standing around...while people swarmed around her.
Laughing quietly at Mariska's responses, Ollandra watched the young woman fade into the crowd of dancers. She turned to J'mie, grey eyes merry; "Something to eat sounds wonderful right about now. And I'd love to see your charts when you have the time." With a half serious smile she spoke again. "I must find something to keep me busy now-a-days. And another eye looking over things always helps, well most always."
It really was good to see everyone enjoying themselves so, tensions could run very high in the Weyr. And with the coming predictions, Ollandra feared this would be one of their last large festivities. Unthinking she reached out to her Shim for support and the still slumbering queen rebuffed her a little and she sighed. How was it possible for one to feel alone in a crowd like this.
Turning back to J'mie she smiled once more. "Do they have the right spicing on the wherry and tubers tonight? Some of the cooks really can overdo it after we've gotten a caravan shipment in."
L'kel helped Morelia up, waiting till she was settled in front of him, his arms wrapped around her. He securred both of them in the harness and whispereed o the Bronze to take off. It was a matter of seconds before the Bronze carried them between and they came out above the familar rim of the Sodalis Bowl. "Home sweet home, love." He said to the Greenrider. "We can go see Berelia now." As they landed he noticed the cooler edge to the air. It would be a relief not to have the full summer heat for drills anymore.
He helped Morelia off onto the ground, "You feeling better now?" He asked, a little worried.
"I will be sure to show them to you. If you ever lack for something to do Lady, you must come visit my wing. They would consider it an honor." He added, knowing full well his wing would enjoy having her there. She had earned great respect among them. "I found the food wonderfully well put together. Not too much spice at all. Fortine out did himself tonight. The best feast we have had in a long time." J'mie spoke pleasantly of the cook. He really had made an excellent feast.
Pulling out a chair at the head table, J'mie waited to seat Ollandra properly. He hoped people would show him the same respect when he got older. It wouldn't be long before that happened. He sighed inwardly, that would be the day... he would never let himself become useless though and neither would Ollandra. That was the way dragonriders were.
-----------------
Morelia felt much better just seeign sodalis. After landing, she dismounted and spoke much more calmly. "Yes, I feel a lot better already. I hope we don't scare the Creche nannies. That would be quite the sight." She grinned at him in good humor. She hoped he wasn't too worried. She was fine just a little shaken up.
-------------------
Z'rion was late to the feast unfortunately though that was more becasue he was late than his guest. He wore similair clothing as he had the night before. Two feasts in a row made for quite the sevenday. He looked down at the woman who arrived with him. "Two nights ina row. I hope your feet and your stomach are up for this." He smiled and looked for seationg arounf the weyrhall. Finding a table that was middlingly occupied. Not tooo many people but not too few either.
HE pulled her chair out for her before seating himself. Food first was always good before dancing. "The feast looks marvelous." He added as a drudge filled his glass with a white wine.
Ollandra sat, sweaping her dress out of the way. "Thank you J'mie and I would love to come and see your wing. Might even get Shimeath off her bum for a few minutes." She smiled and nodded to a passing drudge then looked back to the bronzerider. "Ahh that is good to hear, I hope he did remember to forget a wine barrell or two, having two Weyrs sleeping in tomorrow would not do at all."
The Weyrwoman took a sip of her wine and glanced about the room. There certainly was a good turn out for the Feast. But then for all feasts there were. It was good to see Kyparla and Mariska enjoying themselves, they both need the time to relax.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kaminari stared at the mass amounts of people and followed Z'rion quietly. She was still shaky from the flight. Between was something she could really do without ever experiancing again. Even if there was that deep residing thrill with it. Something told her Z'rion would have bruises on his waist tomorrow from her fear tightened grasp.
She sat down and grinned her thanks up at him. "Everything smells just wonderful. Though I think I might have to stay away from the wine tonight." The headache she had woken up with this morning had let her know loud and clear that she wasn't up to drinking as much as she had. So when the drudge offered the wine, the Harper opted for just water instead. Maybe a little later but two headaches in two days was not quite her idea of fun. "So do you Weyrfolk always have this many parties?"
