A MasterSinger is not the same thing as a Harper.
You can be a Singer for the Harper Hall and not be a Harper. I'm talking about semantics and specifics. Differences. Merelan was not a Harper. She was a Singer.

No worries, I'm not griping about those who already have them...I just think maybe people should reread the books again...

Okay, please let it be known that we are not imposing restriction on this...but I think you ought to know.
On the subject of Harpers, I am having an issue with how many females we do in fact have. The thing is, it is canon fact that Menolly was the first female harper in living memory. So why do we have...four? And then some, because some folks NPC them. We have one, maybe two male Harpers, not including the Masterharper. HEY! Stop being in love with the idea of females being males positions. That's very Romantic period of you, but it's not what we play. So cut it out.
Once again, there are no restrictions being imposed here, it's just food for thought. Besides, male harpers are more fun anyway. Look at Sebell and Piemur.

I don't think so. I just know she altered golds so they wouldn't be able to chew firestone without becoming infertile. I don't think she would've made it so greenriders couldn't reporduce, exspecially since in the beginning, almost all greenriders were male. What would the point have been?
Besides, how would the dragon mess up hormones in a human?

Besides, no one seems to have remembered that Lessa (9th pass, Ramoth's rider) miscarried so much because of between (well, and because of how little she was), that it ended up that F'lessan was the only child she bore. Also, there were references that cysts might have grown on the ovaries as a result of the cold of between.
Yup. It's still hard for riders to bear children because between kills fetuses. Kills, or whatever other word you want to use. *doesn't want to make this a political soapbox*

I'd like to thank meh mum, who nurtured my love for reading and books, and then, of course, my good friend Menta, because without her questions, I'd've never made it this far...uhm, yeah, West Side to all my homies *orchestra music starts playing* Damn...ok, thanks!
Yeah, Congrats on Zylaera's Impression, BTW

Well, the honorific contractions here on this site are chosen by the Queen's owner. So Dizzy will be picking Orfinion's contraction if he Impresses. *hopes it doesn't come out O'nion* But his dragon will sya his name, and that's how you'll know...so yes, I suppose they are picked by the dragon. On the board. I haven't read one of McCaffrey's hatchings for a mo', so I'm not sure about that.
I never read Dragonseye *ought to*, so I dunno. But if it was set early enough, at least as early as or earlier than Second Pass Pern, then it's possible for Thomas to go to S'mon if he feels it, because he may be trying to get away from a Terran name. That's what Peter Tubberman did in First Pass Pern-- he went to Purman. And besides, S'mon isn't too different from Thomas, and that'd be a hard name to honor. T'mas? T'oma? Eh, who knows.
Greens rise every five to eight months. Factor in that greens are born at different times and in different clutches and matured faster than Queens, and there's bound to be a few days open where there are no greenflights. Occasionally, they would have to get in each others' way, but also factor in how manificently huge a Weyr is, and then just the feeding grounds alone. They'd be able to make it. It would probably upset a fair amount of drills, seeing as when a green flies, blues and browns, and a few bronzes are forced to follow. I imagine a fair amount are closed, yes.
The reason Weyrling deaths are so many and yet are not so mourned or talked about is because everyone is desensitized to them as a fact of life. So many have happened that it causes a few sad moments, but everyone learns to get on with their lives. There are a lot of dangers to being a rider, and that's just one of them. It's the same basic principle with Thread scores. They happen so often that you just get some numbweed slapped ovre it and told to go away. And if you whine about it, ya look like a little babeh! lol

I'd like Shereae to have Bunk Five in the Girls room. Are we posting Boy's bunks too?
EDIT:
I guess we are! Also, Bunk Five for Milaka, please.

Well, actually I just bumped up my PNPC Weyrling Master at Soda. to PC...so, D'len can truly be an assistant! ^_^
But yeah. We did spend two hours on this, and feelings were hurt, and we all pretty much got off the computer feeling tense...but it's for the best. It'll help the board get going, and I sure have never heard anyone complain about Impressing a brown or a bronze at a Hatching. Or about having a ranker. Ever.
And of course, we want you and Hrsegrl to finish your thread, Menta. We're not saying you can't have threads with them, and we're not limiting them, either. Hell, start a new one after this one...just start an important thread somewhere with a ranker. Show up for Drills. If you have a wingsecond at Lateo, and a few of you do, post there in the council room with Brit and Diz, because Wingseconds are included, as far as I know. We just want more focus on rankers, because they aren't getting a lot of love lately.
Look, it's gonna be fine. Okay?

Ha! I have dragons of all colors except brown--which is fine, because I have a bronze! So, am I getting doubly-"shafted?"
We're not saying you can't play the lesser colors whenever you want. We just are trying to get people to pay more attention to rankers and high colors. We've got to get the board moving, and we're not doing that by hanging out with lesser riders who can't do anything.
As far as golds, Effluo doesn't even have one. At all. And she's all about this plan. Sorry, but like Diz basically said, this is how it is.

Hullo, Rorako! And good evening. We're glad you've come here to Pern: The Lost Weyrs. Welcome!
You can make a brownrider as your first rider, if you like, or you can make a candidate for the up and coming hatching. The brownrider can be at either Weyr, but rest advised that the next hatching will be at our Sodalis Weyr.
We would prefer you not make a female rider or candidate, or, if you must make a female, please make the bio (pardon my rudeness) "one helluva profile." Otherwise, we won't approve, simple as that.
Something else that will help you along are The Rules, and there are about three sets, in the Joining Forum. That will assist you a bit, I think.
If you have any further questions, feel free to add me to any of your buddy lists. prettygrrl186 --AIM sirenahada@yahoo.com shirachatool@hotmail.com
I'm on usually 24/7.
