M'larain and a couple of riders from his wing, Duro, touched down in the Bowl after returning the welcome bugle from the watchdragon. They were there to pick up the candidates who didn't Impress from Queen Savath's clutch. Looking around, M'larain smirked. Who could call this a weyr and be honest about it? he asked himself.
Helliath overheard the thought. A Weyr is where dragons are, M'larain, he replied in mild rebuke. M'larain wiped the smirk off of his face quick-like. Leave it to his dragon to know better than he.
He didn't know how many candidates would be coming to Sodalis, but he hoped it was worth his, T'yin, and Dr'jin's time to be here, not to mention T'yin's green and Dr'jin's blue.
It is always worth it, Helliath told him. M'larain shrugged. And Olith and Rath agree with me. M'larain smiled a rare, true smile.
"You great fool, stay out of my mind."
You don't really mean that, the dragon said, eyes whirling slowly. He knew his rider was joking, and pushed his wedge-shaped head onto M'larain's chest to get ihs eyeridges scratched.

Hanen had said yet another farewell to his mother and sister that morning before finishing his chores. He had with him an extra pair of clothign for wash days and another pair of shoes. He held a small bag filled with common neccessities. Having fully understood what he was doing... he had decided to go wit the candidates to sodalis. After all Queen Caliath's clutch would be grande... she was a senior queena nd had been for a while. It would be interesting to see sodalis.... when he had never left Lateo.
The dark eyed boy watched the riders land int he bowl. waiting as he ahd been instructed. He saw the m dismount and decided to walk forward. He looked determined as if he knew where he was going and that he was not afraid to leave. He would miss his mother and sister adn his friends but who in their right minds would pass up a second chance to impress a dragon?

Milaka went out to the Bowl, where three dragons were waiting to take candidates to Sodalis Weyr. Caliath, the senior queen there, had laid a large clutch, and the eggs were ripe for the Impressing. Grinning, he stopped next to a dark haired boy he'd seen before. "Hullo, Hanen, isn't it?" ~~~ The riders looked up, and there were two candidates ready to go. Hardly enough for three dragons, but who could have known? More would surely show.

Hanen gae one of those half nods that boys often give to those they know. "Yes, thats me. Going to sodalis too?" Hanen asked the other boy. He hoped he two of them could band together and not be enemies onthe whole hatching thing. He was a bit nervous to go to sodalis, he wanted to be strong about it but he had never left home before. Lateo was comforting and familiar but sodalsi was the future and thats what he needed.
"I swear your name is on the tiip of my tongue I just can't remmeber it." He grinned at the other. Perhaps that was a bad thing but Hanen did have a hard time remembering a lot of peoples names especially if they had been introduced in a group.

"Yep. Gonna try my luck at Impressing one of Queen Caliath's eggs," Milaka told the boy. "No problem. My name is Milaka. You're lucky, I usually can't remember faces." Milaka smiled genially at the boy in his gentle way. Sturdy, he was, and very reliable. Predictable, as well. "Did you hear of anyone else coming to Sodalis?"
Milaka was an easy enough boy to make friends with. He didn't much like high-maintenance people, and he preferred quiet groups of people, but he could be as outgoing and raucous as the next boy.

"Then I'm a lucky person indeed." He grinned, "I thought I heard Shereae was vcoming too. I don't know what would be keeping her." Hanen figured she was slow because girls tended to take so much more time to get ready. Looking at the riders who were waiting he wondered what riding a dragon was like. "Ever been dragonback?"

At the mention of Shereae, Milaka's heart went all a-flutter. He felt a little queasy and uneasy, but shook his head and quickly regained his composure. "She's probably brushing all that red hair she has," he told Hanen, smiling.
"Ever been dragonback?" Hanen asked him.
"Once, coming up from Lateo Weyrhold. But it was mostly between, so it wasn't much. And I haven't had reason to go a-dragonback since then."

Hanen guessed the other guy knew her pretty well. He himself had not really talked with her much though she had always seemed nice to him. Milaka might know Shereae very well, judging by the sudden changes he was presenting. "Ah well shes lucky to have such hair. Mines going to be chopped off soon." He touched a bit of his dark hair. Anythign to avoid talkign about girls. He had a crush and it was a good thing to be gettign away from here where she already had impressed her own green.
"I've never been. Flying must be wonderful." He added when Daze came from between to land on his head, the talest perch she could find as usuall. "This is Daze." He introduced milaka to his firelizard. As he did so she preened and cooed most vainly.

"Well, hello, Daze." Milaka scratched the fire-lizard's eyeridges, and looked up at Hanen. "My mother always told us, 'five children is pets enough,'" he told him, imitating the woman's voice. "I never got a chance to get one of these little things, but I hear they're dead useful."
Shereae came up behind him, poking his side as she did. "You know I hate that," he grumbled, not quite controlling the irritation in his voice.
"I don't really care. Hanen, hello. Long time, no talk, I think," she said, greeting the younger boy. "Going to Sodalis, are you?"
Good, a girl, M'larain thought, thinking of the gold egg on the sands at his weyr. He wondered if there'd be many more. And how many would want to go back to Lateo.

Savath bugled a challenging welcome to the foreign brown, blue and green. In the process she told her rider of their presence, before going back to her sun baked wallow.
Leaving her work in the Records Room, Kyparla made her way out into the bowl.
“Lateo gives her greetings. I hope that all is well at Sodalis?”
