Rolling his head on his necked, P'resh sighed. He was working privately with Kaunth today, attempting to speed up reaction timing in both of them .P'resh would yell out a location the thread would be coming from, he and Kaunth would go between to a spot close by, but far enough that they wouldn't be hit by the imaginary thread. It wasn't an ideal plan, but they hoped it would work. Now they were taking a break, and P'resh wandered over to the river, where Kaunth was preparing to dive in. He sat down on the bank and began to think of Amoare...her lovely pale blue eyes, her light skin, smelling of sweetsand and dragons...he could almost hear her giggling now...

Tucking the end of the tank-top into her shorts, she tightened the belt and picked up her towel. “Lues! Are you coming or not?” she asked as she slipped into her sandals. Dressed in a black tank and short, hide shorts Amoare was ready for a swim. Her hair was up the only way it was long enough for; a messy bun.
The bronze flit appeared out of nowhere to land on her shoulder and grab hold of the bun, not helping its appearance at all. “There you are!” she said exasperatedly as the flit answered her with just as much exasperation. “Fine. Fine. Lets get going.” she said, finally walking out of the candidate barracks.
The sun was warm and she quickly found herself racing the bronze flit to the river that ran thru the weyr bowl. As he dove for her head playfully, she found herself dodging. Giggling, she stuck a tongue out at him and sprinted for the waters.
The sudden stop nearly sent her flying as she tried not to run into the person in front of her. Realizing it was P’resh, she put her hands on her knees to catch her breath. A moment later she looked up to find his back still in front of her. So he didn’t hear me?
A mischievous grin sprouted on her face and she signaled to Lues, who was now on the ground in front of her with a puzzled look on his face, to stay put and remain quiet. Tilting his head as if he’d heard her, she tip-toed till she was just inches behind the Bronzer.
“GOT’CHA!” she shouted out as she suddenly thru her arms around him and hugged him tight.

"GOTCHA!" a loud voice yelled, as arms were wrapped around his midsection. P'resh could think of only one person who would dare hug him in broad daylight, and as he turned, lo and behold! That person was standing there, grinning up at him.
"Hey babe," he said, thinking about how he had heard her giggled. Looking down to her side, he noticed a handsome bronze firelizard standing, looking mighty protective and a bit like he wasn't sure he approved of the hugs being exchanged. "Well, then," he said. "Good looking flit you have!"
She's got a flit? Kaunth asked, and when P'resh looked over, his dragon's hide was now washed and wetted into a dark, but still shiny, browner color.
"Yes, she does," P'resh yelled to his dragon, smiling. He turned back to Amoare.
"How are you today? Shirking chores?" he asked, happy to see her.

Amoare was rather happy to see P’resh again after the other night and where better to run into him than the sunshine? Hearing the compliment on her flit, she looked at Lues and smiled. “Lues, this is P’resh. I told you about him. P’resh, this is Lues.” Her grin turned into a look of instruction as she spoke in a rather firm voice, “And whatever you do, do NOT give him anything sweet.”
Leaving it at that, she answered his next question, “Oh I’m done with chores for the day. If you haven’t noticed, its only two hours till dinner!” Frowning, she spoke her own question, “She does what?”

P'resh shook his head, attempting to force his ears to recognize her words. He had been speaking in his head all day, and his ears had been "turned off," so to speak. "No, I didn't know it was almost supper. I've been out here and over the jungle all day with Kauth."
When she said, "She does what?" he smiled. "Kaunth heard me tell you Lues here was good-looking, and he asked me if you had a flit." When he thought about it, the question seemed sort of silly--but then, Kaunth was a dragon.
Tell the girl hello, Kaunth said, and went about his business diving and playing with the large fish that inhabited the river. It was more than probable that he'd eventually eat one, even though he usually didn't care for the taste.
"Well, Kaunth, who says hello, by the way, has ended our day of practice. I can't take a wet dragon between and expect to come back. I'd join you, however, if you were planning on swimming," he told her, gesturing towards her attire.

Amoare’s eyes went wide when he said he’d been over the jungle for most of the day. Realizing it was probably naturally for the riders to be though, she shrugged it off. Hearing that Kaunth had said hello made Amoare beam with pride.
“Please tell Kaunth that I return the hello.” she said. She’d have asked for permission to swim with the bronze as well, but as P’resh offered to swim as well, she decided it was a big enough river that it didn’t matter.
Standing up she motioned to Lues and sprinted off racing the flit to the waters edge, shouting behind her shoulder, “I’ll beat-cha there!” As she reached the water, she didn’t even slow, but leapt into a dive that sent her gliding thru the shallows and into the deeper waters.

"Probably," he said, laughing as he pulled off his tunic, exposing recently used muscle that was still flexxed and sweaty. Also pulling off his boots, he set them to the side and ran after her.
When he got to the water's edge, he waded in, preferring to take the "warm up to the water" approach. The shallow water felt warm on his feet and shins, but when he waded in to his thighs, the water began to run cooler, and goosebumps grew on his legs and arms, as well as his chest. Finally, he water-dived, taking off from the ledge into the clear water, and swam after her.
Kaunth came up from the depths of the river, washing fish and watergrass from his back. Rumbling, he swam over to them awkwardly. P'resh laughed and treaded over to him, beckoning at Amoare to follow him. "I guess dragons really are meant for the air," he laughed.

After coming up to the surface, Amoare treaded the water, watching as P’resh made his slow entry. Once done laughing at him, she turned her attention to Lues who she splashed before diving in retreat. Coming up closer to P’resh, she seen him motion toward Kaunth.
Following him, she smiled at his words. “They are certainly more graceful in the air, that’s for sure. Although I’ve seen some dragons look magnificent in the water.” Hearing a cherp behind her, she glanced over her shoulder to find Lues following on his back. “And yes, your magnificent in the water too Lues.” she finished with a laugh.

Now Kaunth was reaching his face out towards P'resh so he would scratch the dragons eyeridges. P'resh, knowing that Kaunth was never quite this affectionate, laughed, also knowing that the dragon was putting on for the beautful young lady. He scratched Kaunth's eyeridges and pulled some rivergrass from the nosetip of the bronze.
"Looks like bogeys, friend," P'resh told the dragon as he tossed the grass over to the side, away from Amoare and Lues. He turned to Amoare, still holding onto Kaunth's head so he didn't have to kick his legs so hard.
"So, what were chores like today, love?" he asked.

A few quick strokes brought Amoare to the rider’s side and she placed a hand on his arm to keep from drifting away as she listened to him. Reaching out, she paused just inches from the bronze hide. “May I touch you Kaunth?” she asked the dragon, even though she knew she’d have to wait for the answer from his rider, she felt it was only polite to ask the dragon himself.
“Oh nothing big. I worked in the kitchens this morning then I was sent to the record room to help sort and reorganize the records.” she said smiling at him. “What were you up to over the jungle?”
Amoare herself hadn’t seen the jungle as Sodalis was in the mountains which held a more temperate climate that was less suitable for the diverse foliage. She had always wished to explore it however, as she’d heard of its many plants and strange animals, including the large felines.

Tell her yes, Kaunth told P'resh. Tell her yourself, lazy, P'resh teased his dragon. Fine,Kaunth replied, a bit perturbed. He looked at the young woman. Of course you may, he said to her. P'resh turned to watch Amoare's face as she realized a dragon was talking to her.
"Who, me?" he said, dripping innocence. "I was just picking up a something pretty." He grinned, enjoying his secret. "Sounds like you didn't hate chores," he said, poorly attempting to change subjects before she could get his secret out of him. He had always been a bad secrets-keeper when it came to gifts.

Amoare felt the presence of the dragon in her mind and she forgot she had to keep swimming. Dipping a few inches before remembering, she could only smile with excitement painfully clear on her face. Reaching out she touched the smooth wet hide. She’d felt other dragons before, but never before had she been allowed to by the dragon himself. She thought she’d never be happier.
Hearing P’resh’s voice again brought her out of her short daze and she turned to him, still caressing the dragons hide. At the mention of something pretty she was instantly curious. The drudges always said she had a curiosity to rival a flit and it was now evident as she began to weasel the information out of her friend.
“No, chores aren’t bad. They are a fact of life. Besides, I like working in the records room.” Making sure she didn’t loose the opportunity, she took only a short breath before asking “What were you picking up and from where?”

When she began to dip, he cursed himself for having Kaunth bespeak her and he made a mad grab for her arm, only to find her coming around and reaching out for Kaunth's hide. The dragon's many-lidded eyes began to droop shut as her hand caressed his wet hide.
"Nothing, woman!" P'resh said, trying to keep his mouth shut aout his special surprise he had planned the night before. Before she could ask again, he dived underwater to see how deep he could go before he had to come back up.

Amoare frowned slightly as P’resh said that it was nothing. Seeing him dive below the water, she decided that he wasn’t going to get off that easy. Telling Lues she’d be right back, she took a breath and dived after the half-naked man.
While she was able to move quickly in the water, her own lungs were not as large as P’resh’s and she found herself needing to come back to the surface before she had caught him. Filling her lungs with the summer air once again, she treaded the water as she searched for P’resh. She frowned finding that she had lost him when she’d come back up.

P'resh had to come up far before he reached the bottom, and when he did, he swam to the other side of Kaunth, where Amoare couldn't see him, and huddled to his dragon.
Don't tell her I'm over here, Kaunth. She'll ruin the surprise we worked on today, he told his dragon. Then he got an idea.
Trying to hold in a chuckle, he dived back under water, swimming over to wear Amoare was treading water. Swimming up from underneath her, he grabbed her foot and tickled it while pulling her down with him.
