It was hot, too hot, at least Z'rion felt that way now that drills were over. Viderieth agreed that it was much too hot. That was when they decided to take a nice dip in the river. The pair were not interested in doing much that evening. It had been a hard day and the tall Bronzer had made up his mind that what remained of the day would be dedicated to having fun.
Perhaps later he would be able to sneak some Benden white, from his long lost stash. He didn't reveal to many people that he had some, as it was a rare find on the Southern Continent. He wouldn't mind a little music either or a game odf dragon poker. Anything to get people to loosen up. The brawny man stretched his arms before dismounting his dragon. Viderieth was average in size, while his hide was a bit on the lighter side of bronze, it held darker striations on his hind legs and tail.
After Z'rion dismounted, the dragon dove into the cool waters.Come on in the water is nice. Thats what you want me to think. It looks cold to me. Besides, I'm wearing leathers and the weavers are going to kill me if I ruin another pair so soon. Those wherrie brained dim glows...since when do we care? Since they stopped finding me charming and boyish, last time and decided I was a menace? The man smiled, it was a lie. He could charm them if he so chose, but he wasn't about to be tricked into that water. Not by his own dragon.
Z'rion sat up on the shoreline and took off his boots. He waited a moment or two, watching the dragon play. Then he walked to where the water met the shore and let his feet be washed by the cold river.

Karwen loved swimming. She enjoyed it and liked watching the dragons sporting around in the water too. She grinned when she saw a large bronze already in the river. She couldn't wait to get in. She walked up to the river and looked around for the bronze's rider. She spotted him down a little further from her. She carefully walked up to the man. "Hello, good day for a swim, eh?"

The Bronze was paying no attention to the small waves he was creating when he moved. Z'rion, having heard a voice turned around only to be hit by one of Viderieth's waves. You are going to be sooo sorry. Oh really? Prove it!I will. In a moment. The now drenched Bronzerider looked down at the woman, he was over a foot taller than she was. This made things no harder than they would be with any other person.
The blonde man grinned. "Why hello there. It's a lovely day for a swim. Viderieth, my Bronze companion, claims the water is nice but as you can see I now have my own opinion on that. Take my word for it, the water is freezing." Lucky for him the air was stagnant so no breeze was around to blow on his wet skin. " I'm Z'rion, by the way, of Ardeo Wing."
"The sun is warm today. I reckon it must be the warmest day yet. Don't suppose the wind will pick up tomorrow do you?" He hoped it would. Drills were murder in this sort of heat. There was little to keep him from thinking about how hot it would be fighting thread in this sort of weather.

"Well met, Z'rion. I'm Karwen of Sodalis Weyr. It is rather warm today." Karwen chuckled at the bronzerider's words. "Well, I love swimming, no matter how cold the water is. I'll just have to see for myself." She slipped off her tunic and trouse to reveal a black bikini swim suite.
Karwen walked up to the water just as a largish wave soaked her from the waist down. Her eyes narrowed menacingly at the bronze. But she didn't want to back down from fear of being embarrassed. She waded further into the water of the river. She could feel the water get a bit warmer on the surface but remain cold a good foot or so deeper. "Come on in, Z'rion! The water is a bit warmer out here!"

(sorry for my absence!)
Z'rion made no comment on swimming. He was born a fisherman and had been raised one up until his Search and ultimate Impression to his dragon. At the time he didn't think there was a person on Pern who could not swim. Since coming to the Weyr he realized there must be some who had never really had the water experience he had.
There wasn't much that phased Z'rion. As warm and inviting the dragon and the young woman were being, the tall blonde would not be swayed. He saw right through their little charade. "Uh ho! Now Viderieth has you in on it too? I'm not going to fall for your act. Its freezing out there. The spring thaw saw to that. Thank you very much but I prefer to be where its warm." For all that he sounded indignant the Bronzerider was grinning. His face was seldom without one.
Life was much to short to be serious all the time... or most of the time. The Bronze dragon spoke, I think you'd have more fun in the water cold or not. Besides you can sunbathe after.Logically it did make sense. He ought to have as much fun after those drills as possible. "It seems I stand corrected. Viderieth has brought it to my attention that I can sunbathe after..."

Mine there are other dragons done there, may we join them? Lheth asked as they were doing a circuit over the river. R'daur enjoyed some peace when he could get it, a turn after the tragedy of losing so many dragons and riders was hard him.
Yes Lheth go ahead and land. R'daur told the brown who imeaditly obeyed and went into a spiral downwards, he hoped that His would enjoy some time in the water.
Viderith, may I and Mine join you and yours? Lheth asked of the bronze as he settled a distance off until he heard back from the other dragon.
Whats up buddy? Is someone else there? R'daur then saw the rider and smiled he knew that there had to be others around enjoying themselves.

(Sorry for the wait. I thought Karwen was still around which would make it her turn to post. Hehe. Well withouth further ado...)
Z'rion had waded in up to his waist now and didn't notice that they were about to have company of a different sort. The Bronze turned his head toward the approaching brown. Of course. The more the merrier.Viderieth spoke a common term, mostly used by his rider. The pair were of the same mind set. Especially after the losses at Muneo. Even if most the people in the Weyr were mourning, Z'rion always seemed to have a smile.
Grinning, like a little boy who just caught his first fish, Z'rion greeted the dragonhealer. "R'daur! Come on in... the water is nice!" He winked over at his Bronze who had said the same exact words to his rider. In fact, the water felt cold as Between. Neither dragon or rider would be his own betrayer. Z'rion made sure to not shiver and keep smiling. He even attempted to splash his Bronze. Foolish thing to do really.
Viderieth took one great wing and scooped the water toward his rider. Z'rion seeing the wave swam toward the shore. He was a great swimmer, having grown up in a small fishing hold in Miamhaoil. Water was something he was quite used to, even cold water. Though the water in Miamhaoil was much more beautiful. He was only a few feet from shore when his dragon's wave overcame him, washing him the rest of the way. Standing slowly, he coughed a little sand out of his mouth. "You call that a splash?!"

We are coming Lheth replied he was after all here to relax with His. After what happened at Muneo R'daur needed a rest.
"We're coming I just don't think I'll go in the water for a bit." R'daur said as he walked toward Z'rion, he looked at the Bronzerider and then checked his dragon. It was a hard habit after you got into it to quit checking for healing injuries or for any sign of a hurt.
The Brown ran into the water splashing water up on both riders as he went. Then turned and looked at His apolgetically, who merely shook his head and smiled at the brown.

The Bronzerider laughed good naturedly. "Well if either of you change your mind, I could use some help taking on that great Bronze lump..." He paused staring at the Bronze, seeing if the dragon was paying attention. "Only don't tell him I asked for help. It would be terribly bad for my image." The Bronzerider left the shore with a smile as he ran into the water.
"Ready or not, here I come!" The blonde dove into an oncoming wave and swam closer to his Bronze counterpart. One thing was good about being a fisherman's son, Z'rion was an excellent swimmer.
Puny human! You can't catch me!How Viderieth still had strength was beyond him. The moment his own head was above water he thought of a suitable reply. The drills were geared towards us riders today, my fine friend. If you were the one lifting all the firestone you'd be singing a different tune. Excuses, excuses...Now you sound like our Wingleader. The Bronzerider distracted his dragon long enough to gain more ground before the dragon noticed his little game and swam away. Coming out on top of the water, he floated on his back for a moment while shouting, a very difficult thing to do. "Need I remind you that you are ten times bigger than me!"

I will help Viderieth. The brown announced as he charged the bronze, that's when R'daur ran in to help Z'rion.
"I think you'll need some help with both dragons after you." R'daur told the Bronzerider as he ran in after his brown. He hoped to join in the fun.

We are sure to win. Humans are small in comparison to us. The Bronze was smug. He knew he was better than anyone. Bronzes seemed to be born that way. The Bronze actually flicked his tail quickly sending another wave toward the men.
"Incoming!" Z'rion said loudly. He wondered briefly if the other man knew what he was getting into. Z'rion wasn't about to tell him either. The twenty three turn old smiled over at his new comrade. " indeed I will. They are bigger but we are the brains..." Where Z'rion was coming from, that wasn't saying much.

R'daur smiled as the bronzerider seemed to be forgetting that the dragons knew what Theirs were going to do before they did it. That was how impression worked, but then again the rider could block certain thoughts from his dragon and hopefully block them well enough to prevent damage to them while they were young.
"I think you forgot Z'rion, they know what we are thinking or playing and can counter act us before we even move." R'daur told the other rider as Lheth flicked his own tail at about the same time as the bronze sending more than one wave their way, Lheth's wave however smaller was no less powerful.
Viderieth allow Ours to think they are winning then send a big wave at them, that way we catch them off gaurd. Lheth suggested to the bigger dragon.

Z'rion laughed. "I didn't forget but sometimes its fun to pretend the sides are even." He wondered how everyone in the Weyr could be so serious all the time. What would they do when thread returned? Talk about being bad for morale. He was going to have fun and he hoped that people would always remember him that way rather than like the myriad of serious, all work Bronzeriders that mainly ran the Weyrs. He was different. Being that way he took suggestions from the brownrider like an equal would, for at this time, during this game, they were indeed the same.
"Besides dragons have awfully short memories and attention spans." He winked over at Viderieth who was trying hard to resist splashing the smile off Z'rion's overly confident face. Yes, we will wait for them to come further in. They will have no choice but surrender. The Bronze was as sure of their win as his rider was of himself. Neither rider of dragon ever contemplated defeat.
This positive outlook sent Z'rion towards the dragons. The ex-fisherman swam powerfully towards them. One thing that the Bronzerider needn't fear was death by drowning. "I bet we can take them if we are closer to them..."

"Alright, but I have a funny feeling they are planning something." R'daur knew that his Brown had something going on just not what that something was. Lheth snorted at his as they swam closer to the dragons, the brown watched the bronze waiting for the signal to splash both riders.
They are not being wise, they come and we will get them! Lheth announced confidently to the bigger dragon.

The Bronze held back any thought of what he was going to do to Z'rion. If anyone could read what the dragon was thinking just looking at him it was Z'rion. The man rarely had to bother with telepathy. Mine can be very tricksy. In other words Viderieth wasn't so sure if the humans were falling into their plan or forming one of their own. He hoped it was the first.
"Theres no doubt in my mind that they are up to something. I'm not going to sit around and wait for it. Besides I'd rather meet my doom head on." Like a true dragonman. He was probably a bit brash and more than a little crazy.
