How you heard of LW: from Obsidian Dreamer
Rider Information
Name: K’mar
Gender: Male
Age/Birthday: 26 Turns
Orientation: Straight
Location: Sodalis Weyr
Rank/Wing: Wingsecond / Ardeo Wing
Standing: K’mar isn’t against helping the Holds, but he isn’t for it either. He believes that the Weyrs and Holds should help each other, sort of like the old ways. Nothing good can come from the two fighting, so if they could just sort out their differences and move on, then they could avoid the amount of bickering going on back and forth between them. He blames the Holds for causing such a mess in the first place, but he put that behind him in order to try and convince others to move on as well.
Family: Mother: Diedre (deceased) – died at 46, would be 58 – Journeywoman Beastcrafter – Her life had revolved around tending and caring for runners and the sort. She had intended on living her life to its fullest with just her life’s work and that was it. Supposedly, out of the blue there was a man that was constantly with her while she worked, slept, and participated in any activities or Gathers she attended. One after another, she had seven children. The first four were boys and the last three were girls. The odd thing about all of it was that after the seventh child was born, the father was never seen again. He just left her with all of them to handle on her own. Rumors spread that the last one wasn’t his, so out of anger he deserted her to care for all of the kids without his help. Only eight sevendays after the last baby was born, Diedre passed away from sickness. She had been sick before her seventh baby and it only got worse after labor.
Father: Jared – occupation unknown since no one bothered to ask – age assumed to be around 60 now – Jared was a mystery to everyone, and those who knew him still said they didn’t know much about his past. But what they did know was how much he had loved Diedre, and they even saw him hiding back behind the crowd during her funeral service. They still say that the only reason he ever left her was because the last child must not have been his, and he was furious that she would betray him like that. He left to a faraway Hold last anyone heard, although rumors said he might return later on.
Brother: M’kel – 25 – Rider of Brown Larynth – Second to be born, M’kel was also second in line to Impress. He was Searched at 16 Turns, and Impressed Larynth on his first time standing. He’s his own individual and sees K’mar as his twin brother since they are practically twins. It’s hard to tell the age difference between the two since M’kel looks two turns older than he really is. Probably the smartest of the group, the siblings all bet that he would be the one to have a family first. He, like K’mar, lives in Sodalis Weyr and the two see each other quite often. Actually, many people have been known to mix them up until they get to know each of them separately to realize just how different they really are.
Brother: Daemon – 24 – Journeyman Harper – Daemon’s the fun brother. He’s the one that everyone goes to when they are stressed because he knows just what to do to make you laugh so hard, that you can’t possibly remember anything going wrong. He just loves to have fun, and that’s probably why he’s so great with the young harpers. He loves traveling to all of the different Holds to play for them at their Gathers. Daemon aspires to be a Master Harper some day, although he never knows if that day might ever come. He specializes in drums and the flute, although he has gotten quite good at a few of the stringed instruments. He soaks up knowledge like a sponge and seems to be able to play almost anything after hearing the first measure of a song he already knows. He’s extremely talented, but sometimes ruins it when he can’t always be too serious about an important matter.
Brother: Krynn – 22 – Apprentice Fisherman – The prankster of the boys, he always tries to be like Daemon when it comes to jokes and making people laugh, but takes about three steps too far. Everything he does always results in embarrassing someone in one way or another, and he’s constantly in trouble. As an apprentice fisher, this is probably one of the worst places to fool around in, which makes his punishments twice as harsh. His older brothers always have to bail him out of trouble, but he continues his jokes anyway. Although most of them are planned, some of them are entirely on accident. One time he lit a girl’s hair on fire, and another time he tied his net to someone’s hair. Unintentional pranks, but because of the other tricks they know he pulled, he was punished for them anyway. It’s hard to believe a prankster that he didn’t pull a prank one someone.
Sister: Tessa – 19 – Apprentice Healer – The oldest sister, as well as the soft-spoken and probably prettiest of the three, started training as an apprentice healer since the age of eight turns. Even at seventeen all of the guys stare after her and she gets all of the attention whenever she’s in the room. She’s quiet and reserved, but cares for anything that can feel pain. It’s probably because she’s so innocent and naïve that most are attracted to her. Her older brothers are extremely protective of her because of the attention she gets, even if it’s from their friends. Most girls hate her for the spotlight always shining on her, but Tessa seems completely oblivious to it all. She’s practically an airhead walking around in human form. She doesn’t realize that her girl friends all despise her and that the boys all crush on her. So she just talks with all of the girls like they’re all her best friends and she ignores the boys, mostly because that was what her older brothers told her to do. She’ll do anything you ask, and you could just walk all over her.
Sister: Farrah – 18 – Apprentice Beasthandler – Farrah is the strangest of them all with a personality as outgoing as…well, she’s her own category. She can go on day and night without stopping when it comes to socializing of any kind. You can’t shut her up no matter what you do. Farrah is the party girl, the blabbermouth, and also the only one taking after their mother. She heard about what their mother used to do since she was too young to really get to know her and she immediately jumped at the chance when she was asked to become an apprentice. Sometimes she has these moments where she can actually be quiet and look really serious, and that is usually when she’s thinking about something really important to her. Family is the most important in her mind, although the rest of the siblings believe her friends are with how much time she spends with them.
Sister: Amara – 17 – Apprentice Healer – She’s more fragile than most in both mind and body, which was why K’mar was so protective of her. Amara’s so shy that it seems she’ll never open up to anyone other than her older brother, and she blames herself for the death of their mother. She doesn’t know her father and still thinks it is the same man that created the rest of the siblings, and they all intend to keep it that way. She looks up to Tessa because everyone likes her so much and she wants to be just like her. Her siblings try to get her out into the real world and be at least a little outgoing. Healing helps her get used to her life as it is now without all of her siblings nearby, and in a way healing others is slowly healing herself. She also Impressed a flit that hatched deformed in a way so that it can’t fly, and Amara fell in love at first sight. Now she dedicates herself to the healing craft and her flit.
Pets: Wish – Green Firelizard – 12 Turns – Wish adores K’mar more than anyone and would do anything for him. She hasn’t seemed interested in any flits, but she’s always crooning and rubbing her head against K’mar. She’s glued to his shoulder, as if she’s a part of him that leaves for as short a time as possible. It’s cute to watch, especially since they have been together for a very long time. K’mar found a firelizard clutch near his home with his younger sister, Amara. They each took one and left the others for more people to find. The siblings had to keep the eggs hidden for a bit, so K’mar always made sure the egg was close to him, and even in the same bed to keep it warm. It wasn’t the same as hot sands, but somehow the green hatched in perfect health and was glued to him ever since.
Appearance: K’mar is relatively tall, as are the rest of the men in his family. Around 6’9”, he almost seems to be towering over the people nowadays when they’re all between 6’4” and 6’6”. He considers it an advantage more than anything since he can see things from a different perspective. He also doesn’t usually need to stand on his tiptoes to try and see something, which is a big bonus since he would look completely foolish. He’s average weight, somewhere between one hundred fifty and two hundred. He would weight much more if he actually had more impressive muscles, but he’s got enough to be at least noticeable. His skin is a beige tone, so darker than fair but not so dark it becomes brown. Just lightly colored brown to show he gets sun, but not enough that he practically bakes in it either.
His hair is still a bit on the short side as it falls down to his neck and just above the shoulders. He has enough to be able to tie it back, but not enough to really need to. He likes it just like that where he can be comfortable doing either way. It’s a rich black color, and not just very dark brown like most mistake others’ hair for. His hair is true black, like the charcoal down in the mines. You won’t see any small brown hairs if you look closely. All black. Not to mention it’s silk soft. You can run your fingers through it again and again, but it can never seem to get tangled. It’s just smooth and soft, making it easy to slip right through your fingers. K’mar’s hair is always smelling fresh, and that’s a direct result of how many times he washes it. He’s not vain about his hair, but he enjoys baths and swimming too much. So usually every time you see him, his hair will be wet.
K’mar has light blue eyes, so light that it’s almost clear. His mother used to call it crystal blue, and that he had inherited it from his father. He and M’kel were mirror images of their father, and luckily they had been old enough to see that. Whenever the sun is out or it’s bright in the room, the blue in his eyes seem to almost wash out or fade from so much light, and they become translucent in color. But anytime that it’s dark and there isn’t sufficient light in the room, his eyes seem to darken to a medium blue that’s just a tad darker than the midmorning sky. There’s a small freckle on his right eye, the only real physical difference between him and M’kel. He calls it his branding, or evidence of his own uniqueness. It’s his own trademark that no one can steal, even though hardly anyone even knows it exists. His black hair only makes his eyes stand out even more, and draws people to his eyes first before anything else. His thick, black lashes outline his eyes, but they aren’t so long that they look girlish, but just enough to make his eyes stand out even more.
His face is a bit more oval than round, but only less pointed at the top of the forehead and at his chin. It rounds out a bit there, and that is where the roundness ends. His nose is centered on his face, a bit larger than most, but far less pointy than Krynn’s and not as flat as some of the men he knows. His lips are less than fat and large, but they are definitely not thin. They are always curved in a smile, no matter what type of mood the crowd is in. Everyone could be nervous or stretched, but he’ll still have a smile on his face. He can be serious, but you usually see him happy, or at least eighty percent of the time.
Actually, his hands and feet are quite large. He always feels embarrassed when his hands practically swallow up a girl’s hand whenever he wants to give her a handshake. His feet are big as well. Not so much that it ruins his dancing, although he did have a friend help train him at how to learn to dance better with his feet, but enough that he used to step on the girl’s feet. Luckily he got his friend to help him, but every once in awhile he repeats his old mistakes and ruins a dance that he had done so well on before.
K’mar’s tops are most likely the darker in color, seeing as the lighter colors clash with his dark hair. He does wear white, but other than that the tops are all dark. They are also always short-sleeved. He can’t stand feeling confined in long sleeves, especially since the Weyr is in the South. The main exception is whenever he’s flying, because there is no doubt that he would be going between at one time or another. The same does not go for pants and shorts. He prefers pants to shorts, although he doesn’t really know why. He says they are more comfortable, but sometimes he thinks he’s more self-conscious while showing his legs like that. He’s not that hairy either. You won’t find black hairs on his stomach, although short black hairs do run across his chest. His legs are covered in a good amount of hair so that you can see through to the skin, but it has enough coverage so that it is not bare.
He’s always wearing boots or no shoes at all. He loves his boots, cleans his boots, and wears them everywhere. It’s funny when every once in awhile he goes swimming with his boots still on. It’s not really good for them, but he just doesn’t want to take them off. He’s attached to them like some girls are to dresses or sandals. Every night he cleans them and takes them off before he goes to bed, and every morning his puts them back on. They’ve been through everything with him; including swimming, meals, Gathers, you name it. Luckily he hasn’t slept with them on yet, or that would be a bit too far. As some say, he has a boot-fetish.
Personality: K’mar is the easy-going, laid back kind of guy. He never gives you problems and you never have to worry about a temper. You can tell him just about anything and he’ll listen. Or you could get really angry at someone, even him, and you just yell and shout at him until you feel better, and he won’t say a word during the whole thing. Once you’re done, he’ll probably wait for a few moments before making sure that you’re finished before he just smiles and thanks you or asks if you’re feeling better. He has absolutely no temper whatsoever. You could do anything to him, and you would never find it. There is one exception of course. Every man has his weakness, and for him, it’s his family. If anyone ever did anything to his family, then he would show a temper. But other than that, he’s harmless.
Not only is he easy-going, but he’s also funny. He loves to make others laugh, including himself, and thinks that laughter is the cure to everything. He doesn’t even compete with Daemon, but he sure does fall a little ways away from him. He’s probably known the most for his smile and good nature, so the authoritive figures never have any problems with him. He doesn’t get into trouble, he does what he’s told, and he’s good at what he does. As for drawing and singing…lets just not go there yet. He considers himself to get along with everyone just fine, which hopefully is true for him.
He’s a great listener who will sit quietly for candlemark after candlemark without saying a word. He’ll just nod along with what you say and prepare what he’s going to say in the end. Many people come to him for advice, which is where people have him wrong. You see, he’s a great listener, but when he gives advice, he always says the wrong thing. Then the person goes out and does what he says and everything ends up worse than how it began. So when people come to talk to him, he tries to remember not to give them any advice, but he does slip up pretty often still. Good thing no one decided to give up on him because of that fault, although a few might have, but he’s still just as good a listener as he always was.
K’mar is also very loyal. By very, it means he would go to the ends of Pern and more for them. He is most loyal to his family, but any of his other close friends, and even not so close friends, are never going to have to worry about his loyalty. He would never betray them, and if he’s caught in the middle of two of them, he does his best to compromise. He doesn’t pick sides, but he doesn’t just sit back and watch either. He’s also trustworthy and would take any and every secret to his grave. No one can pry a secret from him, and even so, he’s been known to forget a few of them anyway. K’mar may be caring of others, but he tends to forget about himself. He’s always reminding someone else to take care of themselves better, but if it were between him or them, he would always think of them first. His health always comes last in his opinion, so he needs a person to remind him that he can’t forget about himself either.
His closest relationship is with his family. They always come first and that’s how he had once planned for it to stay. They are his world, his life, and his future. But his siblings keep on trying to tell him that they are his past and he needs to let them grow on their own, because sometimes his older-brother mode can take him away from matters a bit more important at the time, like Wing Practice. K’mar does intend to find a weyrmate and have kids, but every time he even thought about that, something else would happen either with the Weyr or his siblings and he would be distracted. He will settle down one day, but maybe not just yet. Instead, he’s concentrating more on the Weyr and how the Holds and Weyrs might finally resolve their differences, or so he hopes.
K’mar loves to fly around on Talzynth like they are both on top of the world. It’s the best high in all of Pern to them both. That might also be the reason he loves wing practice so much, because he loves to learn new techniques in the air and practice them. He’s probably one of the only one who finds enjoyment in it, and it could be because he’s so good at it. It’s one of the only things he is good at, but at least it’s an important one. You never find him complaining to the Wingleader about anything, and actually hopes that one day he too could be one, or at least a Wingsecond. It’s true that he does smile and laugh a bit too often, but when it comes to Weyr business he quickly picks up the serious attitude. He would be one of the better leaders who never gets down on someone and calmly, as well as patiently, explained how they could do better. To help balance it out he would probably need to work with someone much tougher, but he would love to show everyone how much fun wing practice actually is.
He’s also quite rowdy and outgoing when it comes to gathers. He’s always singing at the top of his voice, and people are always giving him looks because of it. He’s a terrible singer, as well as artist. He’s not good at much of anything less than flying well and leading Wing Practice and swimming. He is a great swimmer and he loves it like his boots, but neither of them compare to bubbly pies. He has an especially large sweet tooth for bubbly pies. He could eat ten of those in one sitting for four sevendays in a row and never get sick of them. He especially loves them hot and freshly baked from out of the oven. One way to win him over is bubbly pies, and probably the easiest as well. Just offer him a few bubbly pies cooked fresh for a midnight snack and he would do almost anything you asked him. The only thing he does dislike that is food would be fish. He just could never get past the strong sea flavor in them, and therefore doesn’t eat any type of fish. Otherwise, he’ll eat almost anything.
K’mar is just a sweet guy, but behind that sweet exterior it gets just a bit harder. He knows how to get down to business and be the boss, even if he doesn’t like to yell at anyone unless there’s a good enough reason. He’s a great speaker and always tries is best, so no one could put him down for being lazy. A hard-worker, he’s always there when you need him the most. Dependable and able to handle most cases on his own, he’s a strong individual with a strong interior hidden beneath his sweet and funny exterior.

((it didn't fit, so i moved his history and the dragon information to the next post *nod nod*))
