How you heard of LW: from Dizzy and Shawn
Character Information
Name: Ayala
Gender: Female
Age/Birthday: 20
Orientation: straight
Location: home hold Tillek, but she is currently residing on the good ship, Dragonwings.
Rank: apprentice sailor, prospective candidate.
Family: the only family that she has known is her father and two older brothers. but their father died when his ship went under while her oldest brother lived as he has never set foot on a ship and works as the dock manager, and Johon was on a different ship at the time.
Pets: one brown Fire Lizard named Guineas. But she has always wanted a feline.
Appearance: Ayala is not what most men would consider drop dead gorgeous, with her suntanned skin, loose pants too big shirts and work callused hands. But most men she knows don’t take the time to look deeper, at her hourglass figure, shining blue eyes and silky gold hair. Ayala stands an even 5’4” and always holds herself in a proud manner. A hard worker and tomboy at heart, she is lean and muscular, being much stronger then her thin frame would suggest. Preferring to walk barefoot even when not sailing, Ayala can always be found wearing baggy leather pants, and old thin loose fitting shirts. She never wears dresses and never planes to, though you never know what might happen, as she gets older. Her long gold hair hangs down to her waist on the rare occasions she allows it to do so, normally it is kept, in a loose bun held together by a set of sharp hair sticks. Though she is a sailor and a very good one at that, Ayala is a Harper at heart and can often be found singing on a cold night in the crow’s nest.
Personality: Ayala is a heard worker and a rather head strong girl. She has a nasty habit of voicing her opinion whether the person she is talking to cares or not. Most who don’t know her think that she is confident and self assured about everything until she apologizes for making a minor mistake or even when the job is perfect saying “well I did what I could but it could be better”, her low self esteem can be pin pointed as he fault of her oldest brother who has done the best he could her entire life to make her think she is truly worthless and can do nothing write. That is one of the main reasons she did not follow her true dream of becoming a Harper and instead became a sailor like her father and mother. Though she possesses a very dry humor and can carry a grudge for a very long time, she will do anything to help someone out of a jam even taking the blame for mistakes they might have made on accident. The one thing Ayala hates the most are people who want something or don’t like something and yet don’t do anything to change the situation.
History: Ayala is a fifth generation sailor and fisher, even her mother worked on a ship as the crew cook for long journeys. It was on one of these journeys that Ayala was born. Now some may asks what a pregnant woman was doing on a ship so far out to sea? Well they didn’t know Ayala’s mother, who was a dedicated and hard worker, they also never stop to realize that Ayala was born two months premature, and there for came very unexpected. But despite all of her mother’s strengths and stubbornness, the woman did not live through the complications of the birth. So Ayala was cared for by the first mate and the entire crew for the first weak of her life as they headed home. But when she got home the new infant found nothing but sadness and hate, as her father could not look at her with out seeing his wife and her oldest brother blamed her for the death of his mother. The younger of her two brothers did not feel any of these things however, and though he was young he gave her all the love she needed.
And so Ayala lived her life with her father not speaking much and Borion scorning her every chance he got. This did not bother her much however, as it was all she ever new and she had Johon . It wasn’t until she was 8 and met Master Harper Ramon that she knew what it was like to be completely accepted. It was the dead of night when he heard a young girl’s voice coming from the quiet docks. Having just arrived that morning, to replace the local journeyman who had returned to the hall for another assignment, Ramon was quite curious to say the least. Following the haunting though pleasant sound he found Ayala, kicking her little feet in the water singing a song of a lost sailor wanting to return home. He took her under his wing immediately, who would have thought that such a young girl could have so much talent? He had his work cut out for him however, battling her own self esteem and her brothers insistence that she was to become a sailor like her mother and father.
But Ramon did not give up and the pair spent many hours in the next 5 turns, walking the beach and singing, when ever they where both done with their ‘chores’, which they had grown to call their daily work of teaching kids for him and scraping barnacles for her. It was on one such trip that the pair stumbled, literally over a pile of… things, buried in the sand. Wile Ramon cursed silently, dusting the sand off of his new tunic; Ayala inspected what she soon found out to be eggs. There had been only 10 of them before the Harper smashed 3, but all of them where rather small. Exited Ayala looked closer only to discover that all but one had been sucked dry but tunnel snakes from beneath. Glancing over her shoulder, at the still mumbling Harper the young girl pocketed the one egg.
Ayala managed to keep the egg a secret for a whole two weeks before Johon found out. Just as exited the boy put all of his effort into helping Ayala keep the quickly hardening egg warm and away from Boron. A month later Ayala woke to a sharp taping sound from her burro drawer. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes the young girl carefully opened the drawer she had been keeping the egg in, to find it working violently, tapping against one of the heated rocks she had placed around it. Waiking completely she had to put all of her effort into not squealing and clapping for joy, she had been sure that she was being silly that the egg would never hatch but here it was, small cracks forming all over the shell. With a loud crack! That rent the silent night air, the egg split in two, sending a tiny brown flopping onto her only nice dress tunic. Ayala’s eyes widened in horror as the little dragon began to screech in hunger its little eyes swirling a deep crimson hue. It snapped at her fingers ripping a few open as she quickly picked it up and ran for the small kitchen. No longer charring how much noise she made, Ayala tore apart the kitchen looking for enough food to stat the young ones hunger. By the time she had succeeded and the tiny brown was snoozing happily in her bleeding hands, she had woken the hole family who now stood stunned in the kitchen door way. Ayala grinned weekly at the men, as her father moved for the bandages for her hand, Johon laughed like a fool and Boron scowled.
Ayala was the talk of the hold for about a weak before the excitement died down, as every holder and their brother walked the beach looking for an egg of their own, none where successful though as all anyone found were abandoned green clutches that had been ravaged by either snakes or wherys.
But her complete contentment was not to last for much longer as three months later, her fathers ship failed to return home. The ship and the crew where declared lost, a month later when search ships found no sine of her. 14 now Ayala joined her brothers full time on the docks working to earn her keep, and finding very little time to spend on her study’s was Ramon. Ramon himself was replaced a turn latter by a young harper, who had little time for a girl with no ambition no mater how talented.
And so Ayala through her self in to her work, finally being hired on as a permanent sailor at the age of 18. Though doubtful at first the young Capitan decided to give the girl a chance and was amazed how well she pulled her own wait, doing some of the best quality work on the ship as she was being built. Ayala found true happiness for the first time when she was out at sea, beyond the sight of land. The crew trusted her, complemented her work, (though she didn’t know why) she had Guineas, her brown lizard, and Johon had managed to get hired on as the ship cook. But more then that, was the way her blood seemed to sing as her starry strands of golden hair blew about her face as she stood in the crows nest. It was what she imagined flying would be like, with nothing but sky and sea as fare as the eye could see.
She was a natural and after only a turn she was premoted from cabin girl to full on sailor. This of course was not enough for Boron as he made a point of hunting her down every time she came to port, crushing any self esteem she might have gained on one of her long voyages. She never complained however, and though any one of the crew members would have gladly pined is ears to the yard arm Ayala never let them, always stopped them before they could swing at her brother.
Now she has been sailing as an equal with the men for one turn, and she is one her longest most risky journey yet, as her captain chases, a large and worthy catch farther south then they have ever gone, and dark clouds loom threateningly in the distance…
Color Preference I like greens but I would also like the chanse to play a gold at least once in my life.... if my post quality is good enough that is.
