Character Information
Name: Yeleeve
Gender: Female
Age/Birthday: 20 turns
Orientation: Straight
Rank: Journeywoman
Location: Benden Hold
Affiliation: Yeleeve hates conflicts of any kind and will usually try and avoid them when she can. She is usually caught being the peacekeeper and people come to her to resolve some situations.
Standing: Yeleeve grew up with her father telling stories about the Dragonriders. How they always flew to fight thread and kept Pern safe from the air-born threat. Needless to say, she adores the Dragonriders and wishes to see them fighting in the skies once again.
Family: Father – Arden, fisherman (50), Mother – Sera, House Wife (45), Older Brother – Miro, fisherman (25), Younger Brother – Byron, fisherman (18 ), Younger Sister – Lylon, Weaver apprentice (15)
Pets: Blue Firelizard – Nya
Appearance: Yeleeve is 5’8 with short strawberry-blonde hair and gray eyes. Yeleeve loves her figure and will accent it in any way possible. She prefers to wear pants with a sash tied around her waist and t-shirts. Her sash is usually some form of purple. She will occasionally wear a short jacket that stops about breast level. Her healer bag is a form of purple with the Healer Hall symbol sewed onto it.
Personality: Yeleeve loves to laugh and is often caught doing so. She believes that laughter is the best medicine and will usually tell a silly story to one of her patients, most likely about herself. She also tends to be a bit mischievous and will sometimes tell a patient who is not ill (but believes they are) that they have some rare disease. (Think “brain cloud” from Joe Verses The Volcano.) And then will promptly give them an “antidote” to cure it.
She hates confrontations and will do her best to avoid them. When she cannot she will become the peacekeeper and try and find some common ground. When nothing else works, she will run. She does not like to fight and will do everything she can to avoid doing so. That does not mean that she cannot defend herself. Being a healer she knows a lot of the pressure points and will hit a person when she has to.
History: Living in a fishing hold was quite interesting for Yeleeve. She learned at a young age how to clean fish and sew up minor cuts. Her mother, being a weaver, tried to get her to learn how to sew. Yeleeve seemed to pick up an interest in it, until her parents found her using that skill to sew people up. On her twelfth birthday they sent her to the Healer Hall to begin her apprenticeship.
Yeleeve excelled in the Healer Hall, soaking up all the knowledge that she could. Her teachers were amazed at how much she could learn and soon she advanced beyond most of her pears. They also learned at just how mischievous she could be and came to expect to see some sort of “gift” on their desks.
At one time there was a competition for all the apprentices and the winner would win a prize. Once it became known that the prize was to be a firelizard every apprentice joined up. After about a week of preparations the competition was to begin. They had to name all the body parts and bones by memory, select the correct medicines to match certain illnesses and to persuade someone that was not ill that they really were not ill.
The whole competition took a whole week and became harder with each new round. By the end there was only Yeleeve, Ura and Egan. They each had to answer questions, several of which were trick questions. But in the end Yeleeve won and received her firelizard egg.
She watched it for several days until one day it hatched. She had a small bowl full of food on hand and fed the hungry little creature when born.
During her history lessons she learned about Moreta and the flu epidemic. She got chilled when she read how many people had died before a cure was found. She became extremely scared that something like that might happen again, but this time the dragonriders would not be around to help. Her Master noticed and talked to her about it and reassured her that nothing like that should happen any time soon. She was grateful to him though secretly she inhabited a fear that an epidemic would happen and she wouldn’t be able to help until it was too late. For her, too late is when someone dies.
Unfortunately she would have become a Journeywoman sooner than she did if not for her nerves. Having never been put on the spot, Yeleeve panicked when she had to stitch someone up by herself. She then had to go back to her studies and came back a year later to take her test again. This time she passed and became a Journeywoman at the age of 19.
----------
Nya, Firelizard
Nya is about average size for a blue firelizard and is two-toned: Dark blue on top and light blue on bottom.
Nya is a perfect companion for Yeleeve, ever on the ready to fetch something for her or to remind her to bring something. She is constantly watching out for Yeleeve and does not like others to get too close to her.
