How you heard of LW: well jee, I don’t know
Character Information
Name: Dyalos
Gender: Male
Age/Birthday: 14 turns
Orientation: straight
Location: Sodalis
Rank: Bronze Weyrling, Sirin Class
Family:
Father-D’len, Asst.Weyrlingmaster, rider of Blue Quith. He’s worked with the Weyrligns for quite a while and it has taken its tole. He’s a loving father, but especially since the death of his daughter, when she was under his watch, was shattering. He didn’t even take a day off, just stayed very quiet, only doing what M’larain told him after her death. He wants to keep working with the Weyrlings because he belives they are the only thing that keeps him sane and connected to Pern, but he doesn’t know how many more he can see go into noothing and never come out of it. He is rather distant with Dyalos, and although he loves his son, he finds it hard to connect wit hthe boy.
Mother-Celosia, Rider of Green Illineth. A good mother, even though she didn’t raise him, she visists him regularily and brings him sweets from the kitchens. She is a bit plain but makes up for it with a sweet and loyal disposition.
Sister-Deceased- Celaena, Weyrling Rider of Green Orkith. She died very recently, going between In Weyrling training and never coming out. As she was his only sister it was pretty tough on him, and he’s been a bit less carefree and more solumn, but he’ll probably snap out of it pretty quickly. He alwasys thought that she ws his father’s favorite, over him, and now he is afriad that his father will resent him for her death.
Pets: No pets, although he really wants one, especially after he met Amneris’.
Appearance:
He has his father’s face, with a shadowed and almost gaunt bone stucture past his age. However, his mother’s intense green eyes and his own mischevious smile, usually lacking a tooth or two he still manages a cheery, youthful look his father never could.
He is built long and wiry, average for his age but still growing, and shooting up fast. He has a mess of dark, straight hair, that when combed down looks rather nice, but as he isn’t big on hygene, exept when forced into it, it often sticks out in all angles and hasn’t had an even cut for a turn at least, as he usually tries to dash out the door while its halfway done to go out and play with his friends.
He is quite tanned and freckled like most of the weyrbrat boys with numerou scrapes and bruises not too mention a couple fine scars. Although he has one set of good clothes, for special occasions, he’s usually dressed in second hand things passed down in the creche with numerous patchings, not that he really cares. He ususally goes around barefoot, unless forced into a pair of old and worn boots.
Personality:
He’s a kid, he’s carefree and wild thing. He used to love playing tricks on the creche nannies and occasionally skips out on his chores. He knows which of the assisstant cooks will always give him a fresh bubbly, he knows where the peek hole is to the hatching sands, he knows how to get out of extra chores sometimes and he knows he’s going to Impress the biggest, greatest bronze ever. He’s always sure of himself and is extremely self-confidant; no self esteem problems present. He idolized Dragonrdiers as a kid, spending hours watching them soar overhead in their drills. Whenever he got a chance to help bathe one, usually a blue or green, he jumped on with much more enthusiasm then with usual chores. He could imagien a life outside of the Weyr and can’t really understand people who don’t want to rider a dragon.
He thinks girls are ok, although not as good as boys because he can beat most all of them in a foot race. Girls as more thanjust playmates is a new idea to him, and it’s a little scary. Growing up I nthe Weyr he’s no stranger to sexulaity, and like many young Weyrbrat boys he ‘s gone, on a dare from an older candidate or apprentice, to watch up close, a flight on the feeding grounds, hiding at the edge and learning quite a lot. He kissed a girl once, and doesn’t really feel the need to do it again urgently, even though it wasn’t all that bad. Really, he’s not hurrying into growing up, but he’s not shyign away fro mit either.
At about the time he became a candidate, his parents decided, that in the slight possibility that he wouldn’t becoem the greatest Bronerider that ever lived, he should learn a trade. He picked smithing because it seemed like fun to wack things with metal and stuff all day. He didn’t really know much about it and maybe wishes he hadn’t decided on that, even though it isn’t that terrible. He’s an ok smith, he’s fairly strong for his age and bright, but he has no patience, discipline or responsibility in him, even if that has gotten better after becoming one of H’mei’s charges. Really he doesn’t have the determination of even ambition to really wok hard at something to be the best at it and if he doesn’t Impress it isn’t likely for him to go past a Journeyman. Its all well and good to dream of being the Weyrleader and such. But to do it is totally different.
Of later, he's grown up a lote though, with his sister's death and then his Impression to a Bronze, he's a mtured quite a bit.
History:
He grew up a little scoundrel, a lovable one, but no doubt a mischevious scamp .He grew up in the creche like most rider children and althouugh he grew up loving his parents, he didn’t see the mthat often. His childhood was fairly simple run and play and eat and get int tourble and occasionally take a bat hor study some history when he was forced into it. His biggest worry was, and generally still is, not getting caught putting hot sauce in the auntie’s klah.
At a little over 13, it became apparent that he wasn’t becoming mature alll of a sudden, so his parents, to the relief of the creche decided to bring him to the smiths for an apprenticeship, at least while he was a Weyrbrat or candidate. It was then decided that he might learn some discipline if he became a candidate and moved to their barrack where he would have a more stuctured day and be more supervised. He was checked out my a couple of the searching dragons and it was concluded that he might have some teeny bit of potential. A letter was sent and signed by his parents and it was done. He knew it meant that his dream was going to come true, next clutch he was going to Impress the biggest most awesomest bronze their ever was.
He is now almost 14 turns, so he’s old enough to stand and is quite eager to do so. His apprenticeship is going a little better, he’s been concentrating more and working harder since his sister’s death. He hasn’t skipped shore duty for almost two sevendays and has shown up for lessons on time. He’s obviously missing his sister, although he’s the kind of kid that could snap back very quickly if he Impressed or just had a little time pass.
He Impressed at callaith's most recent clutch to Bronze Sewrinath. His excitement at becomign a Weyrling is palpable, and he begins to feel his dream of becomign Weyrleader almost possible. Sew is a big Bronze and they've both got big hearts, so who knows...
