~ A beautiful woman with a firey temper, in her time Tasare was quite the gossip. Chani was the only child she bore however having many relations with the dragonriders of the Weyr.
Pets: Brown Firelizard: Frink
Frink is as small as a brown firelizard can get, almost the size of a blue. His hide is the color of cream mixed with klah and as lizards go he is very meek and well trained. It is a rare day when he looses a message and he is loyal to Chani to a tee, he rarely leaves her side and the pair share a very close bond.
Appearance: Chani is slim and willowy, much like her mother. While being short in stature, few rarely notice; she reaches a bare five feet two inches in height. Her hair is as black as ebony and plaited down her back in two long braids. It is her eyes that draw attention. They are a clear bright blue, that is very rarely seen. But this alone does not make them stand out. Those eyes are so expressive it makes it very hard for her to hide any emotions and she rarely does. Her skin is tanned the color of dark coffee mixed with cream. On her left shoulder three small scars show white in the pattern of a firelizard's claws, but other than that her skin is unmarred. Her clothing is that of any Weyrbrat, simple and plain with the exception of one or two gather dresses. And truthfully she far prefers a simple shirt and breeches to do chores in. She wears no jewelry and owns none and neither does she paint her face as some of the hold women have been known to do.
Personality: Chani turns heads, with both her looks and her personality. Very bright, she continues to educate herself, getting her hands into everything she can. Charismatic and easy to get along with, she makes friends easily and keeps them for life. She has a mean eye for a bargain and is a merchants nightmare at any festival. She is fiercly protective of those she cares for, but on the same hand she is very hestitant to let any get to close and even her closest friends often have no idea what she is thinking.
However she has indeed inherited her father's temper as well as his short attention span. While she is still young she has experimented with the boys and girls her age and knows what she likes and how to get it. A capricous flirt she will love you one day and hate you the next. Half of her charm is indeed just how unpredictable she really is.
Chani has dabbled in many diffrent crafts, although none have stayed with her. Her main loves are the dragon healers and weaving. Tallent from her mother enters into both of these and if not getting into trouble, which isn't often, she is either weaving something or bothering the people about the Infirmary.
History: Born in the early winter, Chani was the daughter both her mother and father had always wanted. She was the perfect mix between both parents, at least in appearence. Her early years were happy ones indeed. She never knew anything of the troubles of her parents, which were many. They kept it from her, and while this may not have been the best decision, it made her younger years happy ones.
As she grew, her sharp wit and eagerness to learn asserted itself. She wanted to know everything and she never ceased to plague others for information. And even as she enters her adult life, she hasn't stopped wanting to learn. She never saw much of her father, being a wingrider at Lateo Weyr, he was almost always away with duties. So Chani was left to the care of her mother and other lower caverns women.
Her mother had grown up a weaver and was just short of reaching her mastery when Chani was born. A glib and often outspoken woman, Tasare was not easy to get along with. But she was a very tallented woman and taught Chani much of what she knew of her craft. But as Chani grew, her dominant personality and her mother's clashed inumerable times.
As an escape the young girl found herself more and more about the infirmary, learning all she could about the dragons.
But as her knowledge and love of the craft grew so did the distance between her mother. She began to take solace in the arms of boys her age. Her first love was a young man by the name of Graanen. He used her very badly and she then turned to the girls for companionship, finding pleasure there also. Life went on and she and her mother grew farther and farther apart.
Then disaster struck, Tasare was working in the lowest caverns of the Weyr when there was a cave in. She and several others were caught, it was days before they could be dug out. And then, only the bodies remained. Chani was dumbstruck and went into a deep depression. A'zon and Tasare had never been close, so her death hit him with alot less impact than his daughter. Chani withdrew from the Infirmary and from her friends and veritable harem of lovers. She kept to the small weyr she had shared with her mother and refused to see anyone.
Chani sunk deeper and deeper into her depression and her father could not figure out what to do to help her. Finally he decided, on the advice of a fellow rider, to get her a firelizard. The egg hatched, bearing a little Brown. Chani named him Frink and the flit did wonders for the girl. Having something that demanded her attention and love slowly and surely pulled her out and helped her to deal with the loss. But it was still another year before she had her feet back under her and confidence in her step. The loss of her mother still haunts her and she regrets all their fights deeply. She is still afraid of attachement with the irrationality of a young woman. The what if's haunt her step and while she flirts the cacoon she has wrapped herself in has only gotten tighter and tighter oer the years.
When a Green dragon decided that she was able to become a Candidate a whole new world opened for the young woman that she had never seen before. The possibilites in her mind seemed enldless for while she had lived with dragons her whole life she was one of the few that had really never entertained dreams of riding adragonback. But maybe now with this new door open, she let herself dream.

When she’s not busy with the males, she listens to the Wingleaders and does as she’s told…unless she’s flirting with them as well.
