Character Info:
Name: Josue/J'sue
Gender: Male
Birthing Date: 2384, born in early Spring
Orientation: Heterosexual
Location: Lateo Weyr
Rank: DragonRider
Family:
Father: Jesseth (deceased)
Mother: Mara (deceased),
Sisters:
Rebbec, born 2394
Ellaen 2397
(both are fosterlings at a southern hold)
Pets:
Appearance: Josue is tall, standing at 6’ 2”, with sandy blond hair and crystal blue eyes. Working with animals at his home hold has left him with somewhat well-toned muscles, and little fat on his body. He tends to wear his hair long, and held out of his eyes in a ponytail, or at least he did until the Weyrlingmaster got ahold of it.
An accident involving a large herdbeast, a rope, his leg, and a rock on the ground has left him with a jagged scar on his forehead.
As for clothes, he likes to wear loose garments that allow him full freedom of movement, but aren't so loose that they get in the way. He usually wears high boots made of tough hide, coarse linen shirts and heavy cloth pants.
His expression of late has generally been one of mourning for his parents, and then his grandmother, but he is beginning to be able to smile again, with help from his dragon.
Personality:
J'sue is a sort of introverted person, who, though he mostly values hard work and intelligence, secretly wishes for fun and laughter. He has forgotten fun and laughter though, since he lost his family. His grandmother was a Harper before she died, so he was well-educated by her. He knows how to read, write, and everything else that the Harpers teach children in the large holds. His grandmother taught him how to sing and play several musical instruments to pass the time on rainy days. Though he is by no means as good as a real Harper, his grandmother considered him to be wonderful.
J'sue is very mature. He had to grow up a lot since his parents died, especially because he had to take care of his younger sisters as well as keep the hold running as best as he could till the Lord found a replacement for the teen's late father.
History: Josue grew up on a small cothold outside of Magh Hold. Being the youngest of three, and the only boy, he was generally the one out in the fields doing the work. That was very beneficial for him, helping to grow strong, as well as being able to supervise himself. He knows the value of work, and does not find it too hard to help others when they need a hand.
He was very close with his father, mostly because he was the only boy in the family. His father and he often sat and spoke together in the fields, after a hard days work, and Josue learned many useful things from him. He did, of course, love his mother and sisters, but never built the same bond as the one he had with his father. As a result, he was hit hard when his father was killed, along with his mother, in a feline attack, while they were both out tending to the herds. He felt empty and lonely, but he put on a resolute face, and even ran the cothold for a short before his father was replaced and his sisters were moved elsewhere.
A short while after he lost all of his family, Josue was out tending the fields when a blue dragon appeared overhead. He didn’t think much of it, at first, until the dragon settled down at the cothold. Still, he didn’t immediately rush in. He needed to finish tending to the row he was on… and besides, the Dragonrider probably wanted nothing to do with him. However, this notion was soon debunked, as one of the little children living at the cothold came speedily out to the field to get Josue. To his surprise, the Dragonrider actually wanted him… He, a 15 year old boy who’d never been closer than a mile to a dragon. Delighted, he immediately went with the Rider to Lateo to become a candidate for a short while.
He wasn’t too worried about Impressing, though of course he fantasized about it often enough. What it would be like to become one of the fabled Dragonriders… and so on. He never hoped too hard though, afraid that it would ruin his chances, or he would find himself very hurt when he didn’t Impress.
But his hope was granted, and he found himself Impressing a handsome bronze one fine Hatching Day.
As a Weyrling, he did find himself sort of at the top of the class. He was quick and eager to learn, and generally did it all right the first time he tried. He found himself to be a natural at almost all the aspects that are involved in Dragonriding. However, this sort of separated him from his fellow Weyrlings, who kind of viewed him as a showoff and a stuck-up kid. As a result he ended up kind of alone and isolated, and he honestly didn’t know why. It didn’t help that since his parent’s and grandmother’s deaths, he’d become emotionally reclusive and detached.
Since graduating with his Weyrling class, he has been a lonely Dragonrider, but proud of his abilities and his dragon’s. He knows he’s good… he knows he’s one of the better riders, but he is still lonely. He has so much, and yet so little. He still has a hard time forming relationships with others, afraid of losing them… like he lost his parents and his grandmother. And this has been his big stumbling block. Having a dragon of his own, who he does care about dearly, has helped him a little, but he still fears losing even Saluth somehow. However, Saluth tries his best to get his rider out of his shell, pushing him to do things he may not be comfortable with, and this has begun to help him heal.
Dragon Stats
Name: Saluth
Color: bronze
Hatching Order: 8th
Description:
Saluth is a medium bronze, with a larger boned frame for his size. He has lots of long lean muscle covering his solidly built frame. He is a lighter bronze color with blackish bronze markings on him. They cover his face in a mask and brindle his hide. He is a very handsome bronze…very masculine.
Personality:
He is easy going and a bit laid back. Saluth is much more easy going than his bronze brother Corbith…at least Saluth has a sense of humor…albeit dark. He is adventurous by nature and also fearless. He is prideful like all bronzes, but does well keeping it in check.
Background: Saluth heaved at the shell and it burst....shattering into many peices...He shoved at the membrane that incased him. The drive of hunger and the need to find his life mate making him almost frantic in his efforts. Once free, the hatchling scanned those standing near. He could not find his chosen though...he looked into the sea of faces in the stands and echoed a cry...still no answer... The candidates, after seeing the bloody mess that his brother had made, got out of his way as he stalked the sands on less than graceful legs... He found his chosen on the other side of the sands, and called out to him, J'sue, I am Saluth and you are Mine…
