How you heard of LW: surfing the web for pern stuff
Rider Information
Name: Ambaitola
Nickname: Bait
Gender: Female
Birthing Date:: 2493
Orientation: Heterosexual, I think
Location: Lateo- was Muneo til last turn
Rank/Wing: Weyrling
Standing: Why should I care about Continents? I don't have time to worry about location or really even many other people. I just watched a bunch of my friends, family and most beloved dragon friends die. Ask me again when I've had time to heal. Right now my only concern is learning as much as I can and saving as many dragon lives as absolutely possible.
Family: Mother-Zilafu-Journeywoman Dragonhealer moved to the Muneo Weyr when it opened to practice her craft. She never took the Master test thinking she had plenty of time later to worry about that. She died at 32 in the 'incident'. She met Ambaitola's father at Lateo Weyr while still in her apprenticeship and found him rather handsome if a bit of a boorish prig. Father-H'perdink Blue Rider sent to Muneo with the Helios wing because he was a bit of a thorn at Lateo always wanting more privileges and more women to temporarily sate his enormous apatite . His did not receive any real gain in privileges he sought however he did gain an annoying reminder of days gone past and a rather nagging woman to go with it. He died at 35 in the 'incident'. Brother-6 Really just an annoyance most of his life always needing things but Ambaitola really loved how he followed her around with such adoration, especially after impression. He died in the 'incident' as well.
Pets: 0 (you can't count dragons, they're people too.)
Appearance: Ambaitola's hair is just general brown with nothing glossy or serene about it. The only plus to her hair is that it's bouncy however that gets rather annoying when it bounces right back into her eyes. Because of this she keeps it long and all tied back with no bangs to speak of. Her eyes are her dullest or best feature depending on who you ask. They are the same blue as the sky 90% of the time. Who needs to look at eyes when you can look at the sky, which doesn't require you to focus so intently and thereby cause a slightly annoying headache? She is only 4 feet 7 inches tall and very skinny, about 100 pounds give or take 10 depending on when wet, with only a couple small bumps where most girls important bits are. She reminds herself daily she's only 14 and could easily grow a few inches to a foot at any time and expects the curves will come along with that.
Personality: Ambaitola has a quiet strength often viewed by others but seldom recognized in herself. She is capable of withstanding the cruelest taunts and even embracing them. All through her life she has been called Bait by many children in the hopes of hurting her. At first it did hurt but after many different children in many different places continued this cruel jest she chose to embrace this as her nickname and rather than take offense she no longer allowed this to humiliate her. She loves any kind of bread as well as cheese and finds the thought of meat to be most revolting. Dogs are one of her biggest pet peeves. So many people don't even bother to wash them and oh shard can they get smelly, not to mention the little things crawling all over them. With a dragon of her own who needs pets anyway.
After witnessing her mothers death among many others during the 'incident' at Muneo, the smell of burnt flesh of any kind makes her nauseous while the smell of burnt dragon flesh makes her actually vomit. As an apprentice Dragonhealer she is still trying to force herself to set that mindset aside yet still has trouble with the queasiness that comes over her with each and every patient. She has quite a natural born aptitude for Dragonhealing and a real feel for remedies and herbals. Bait has been able to pick up most herbal remedies with the second or third showing. Her favorite hobby is to read and she is also treading to her dragon however they don't always agree on what makes a good story and lately she's not really had the time.
History: Although never close to her father Ambaitola always hoped that one day he'd look at her and be proud. It was this driving force as much as her adoration for her mother that pushed her to start training as an apprentice in Dragonhealing at the young age of 11 under her mothers loving guidance. When she was 9 she managed to sneak along when a large brown and his rider came to collect her mother to heal a Lateo dragon hurt on maneuvers by it's inexperienced riders mishandling. She heard many dragons making loud noises that were practically deafening and became a bit scared upon seeing her first injured dragon. Up to that point Bait had frequently humanized the dragons but upon seeing the raw pain of something so large realized the potential for danger. This started her desire to help dragons as they deserved comfort just as much as any human in her book at least. Later she learned to control her fear of hurt dragons until it became nothing more than a small memory locked tight away in her minds vault.
At 11 she finally convinced her mother to start teaching her the ways of Dragonhealing and was pronounced an apprentice. She spent every bit of extra time she could memorizing the herbs and dragon anatomy. In her hope to become a very good Dragonhealer Bait chose to move into the candidate barracks and stood on the grounds when Zamruth's last clutch at Muneo hatched. When she impressed Yumoth at 13 it was a huge surprise to everyone including her own mother.
