History:
Current Pern Date: M10/D25/T598/I2 (Month 10, Day 25, Turn 598, Interval 2)
500 Turns ago every Weyr had been operating at full capacity and the clutches had been getting smaller and smaller as the Interval drew closer. There was three gold dragons to every Weyr. After several turns, after the beginning of the Interval, a plague hit the dragonriders. Over the course of the Interval, dragonriders succumbed to the disease rather quickly. It affected both rider and dragon. Though not affecting non-riders as much. The beginning of the last decade of the Interval came and went without much preamble. Among the Holders and Crafters, Renegades and Bandits, it was rumored that the dragonriders had all died out. Some were breathing a sigh of relief, yet others were uncertain. A small number hoped that the rumors were lies! There was not a one person on Pern that had one major thought on their minds: why such a long Interval and no Thread?
As the Holders and crafters, Renegades and Bandits went about their lives, eight surviving dragonriders were guarding 27 precious eggs, including a gold egg. There was a total of 29 Candidates that had been selected in secret and whisked to the clutches' secret location. The eggs hatched and none showed signs of dying. The gold hatchling hatched and impressed rather quickly, which pleased the older dragonriders. Just a few days after the Hatching, a new Weyr location was found. The very next morning, the older goldrider died. Her lifemate roared and leaped between. A short time later, her and her rider's mates leaped into the air to join the golden pair. The air was filled with the sounds of Keening. The new weyrling goldrider, now Temporary Weyrwoman, made the decision to follow through with the relocation. The older riders slowly but safely moved the weyrlings to the new location and quickly moved everything from their old hom to their new one. The complete relocation was finished in six months. They took every record from their home's record room. The new Weyr was located on the Southern Continet. They named their new home, New Benden Weyr. In honor of their old home. The Weyrlings are now in their 10th month of Weyrling Training. Anything can happen....
There is a plot I intend to incorporate into the current storyline. Contest will end on 6/11/2007. Please check out the Website below for history and rules. There are also several adoptable characters that need homes!
