((Mwa! Sorry for the absence! Haven’t had posting time lately. Gomen!!!!)
Sanura was hiding a very pleased grin after she and her beloved dragon had performed the sprint to the mountains rather well, if she did say so herself, remaining perfectly in line with the dragons before and behind them. Aramith had not wavered even once in his execution, and for that, the Weyrsinger was grateful. The dark-haired woman knew very well that the games would be upon them shortly, and being in the Weyrleader’s Wing meant you had to be in top form. She wasn’t too worried with that, however, because for her, battle status wasn’t that important. Sure, she hoped they did well, but if they were left out on the sidelines for those practices.....she wasn’t going to cry. Her main love was singing and her precious harp, and that would always be her first and only passion. I would rather we remain with BloodChar, Mine. I.....well.....would prefer to be in the games. Her dear blue suddenly interjected quickly, almost as if he was ashamed to admit such a vanity. The woman’s cobalt eyes widened in surprise. Well, my only love, if that is your wish, then it is mine as well. She said fondly, running one sun-kissed hand down his smooth suede neck. Her dragon was dearer to her than anything, even the precious lute L’dar had given her as a gift when she became Weyrsinger, and whatever he desired she would do her best to make happen. Were he human, they would have surely been the truest of soulmates. A happy croon met with the girl’s sweet statement, and one whirling eye rolled back to regard her cheerfully. He was pleased.
Suddenly, her blue let out a loud mental exclamation, and the singer quirked one brow questioningly. What has you so excited, love? Mine! Mnemozyth has just informed me that we are to be blue leaders today! We are to be working on formation flying, flying at various speeds and directions while keeping tight formation. You give the commands for speed and direction changes. Those of my color are reporting to us! That certainly was unexpected, and both of Sanura’s brows rose in surprise. Really? Interesting. I suppose our bronzers will be wanting to weed out the slackers for the games, though.... Remembering her blue’s wish, the dark-haired woman tightened her hands on her riding straps and hooked her slight heals in the metal stirrup loops. L’kel was not exactly her favorite person in the wing, as he was always hard on her just because she wasn’t a man, but she would have to prove herself to show him that just because she was female didn’t mean she didn’t deserve blue. Perhaps, though, if she had rode green....he might have had more favor towards her. But that didn’t matter, because it would never be, and she would never, never give up her sweet Bonded for anything. Very well, my love. Tell them to make a tight V formation behind us, and make it now. Leave just enough space for comfortable wing sweeps between each dragon, and I want it kept tight. We start off at a practice speed of 50% so that I can get a feel of them. I will move each pair as I note the weaknesses in each. Start off at our signal, and I will give a brief warning for each directional change. The slowest -will- be moved to the back, and those unacceptable will be made to do individual drills until they can handle the instructions. Relay now.
Aramith happily obliged his rider, repeating her words precisely to those blues gathered about them, proudly noting that his rider would stay to his cause only because of her great love for him. Sweeping his wings slowly to stay aloft, the dragon waited patiently for each of his brother and sister blues to range out behind him. When each reported in as ready, he informed his rider of their progress. Nodding, the Weyrsinger gave the command for flight, and the wing of blues sped off, 50% their top speed. Quickly, the myriad of blue forms could be seen switching right and left, and occasionally backwinging shortly to change direction upward or downward. Their speed eventually worked upward to 80% top blue speed, and the dragon’s positions had changed to keep the slower, less maneuverable ones in the back. Overall, they did well on keeping the formation tight and correct, but twice the woman had to call down individual riders for straying too far from position or slowing enough to interfere with other’s flights. One rider she noted in particular had a poor performance, and before long she grew quite irritated. I know that Thread-bared man is doing this on purpose......Aram, ask L’kel’s bronze if leaders can remove a man from practice or assign a punishment by their own discretion. Or....at least have him watch the bloody man. He’s messing up my riders! Your riders? The dragon chuckled, but complied quite happily. Wingsecond Mnemozyth, my rider asks if she, as a leader, is allowed to punish a rider, or remove him from drills at her own discretion? It is her belief he or his dragon is slouching with the sole intent of hindering drills. He asked respectfully, fully knowing his place as a blue, and the other dragon’s as a bronze.

S’kor scowled as he watched that bloody woman give her instructions, acting as if she was the charred Wingleader instead of just a grub-loving leader appointed for one day. It rubbed the blue rider up and down that the woman was chosen to be leader instead of him, when he was obviously the best of the blues. Not only was he a full twenty turns older and more experienced, but he knew he could fight and command better than a freak of a woman had Impressed a blue dragon and spent all of her time singing and playing. Unarth grumbled unhappily beneath him, which only made the Wingrider more irritated. He would be scored before he let her run him around.
