M'larain took a depp, cheerful breath. This was always his favorite lesson to teach, despite the fact that one or two weyrlings stayed between. He clasped his hands together and waited for his class to gather. Ready, Helliath? he asked his brown dragon. The dragon snorted disdainfully.
I am always ready for this lesson. We have been doing it for turns, the dragon said, showing off his unusually good memory. M'larain was a bit surprised. Draconic memory wasn't too great...perhaps it had been the repitition of the lesson over the years. M'larain didn't know, and didn't much care. Helliath was as he was.
When all of his weyrlings had arrived, he lost his smile and spoke. "Good afternoon, class. Today will be your first between lesson." Some in the class whooped and hollered. "Yes, well, some of you won't be coming back out. You need to face with that absolutely now. Take a few minutes."
((We'll start when the last Weyrling-player comes in.))

Celaena was slightly nervous. She smiled with the rest as their lesson was annoounced, but her delicate features were drawn up in a slightly worrysome way. She looked to her father for perhaps a reassuring smile, but of course knew already that she would find none. His face was stony and set. We'll do great, mine. Oh, i know darling. I just- What? Nothing. She answered in a soft mindvoice. It was just her nature to be timid, she was so opposite to her brother who was loud and outgoing, always the center of attention. She wasn't ever alone though, she had Orkith.
Some of you won't be coming back out. She blanched. In a few minutes, one of those she had grown close over the past few months, gone through numerous trials alongside...would just be gone. Or maybe even herself. She banished the thought, or at least shoved it to the back of her mind. She had to concentrate now.
~~~~~~~~
A muscle in D'len's cheek twitched slightly. He had had a nightmare last night. He always had nightmare's before first trips 'tween, but this night had been worse. This day his daughter was going through the dark and cold void...hopefully, all the way through. He stood still, next to J'ru and waited for instructions.
Wake up! Wake up, mine! The small greenrider yawned and stretched. What is it, Wyn? The weyrling green couldn't contain the excitement in her voice as she announced to Hers loudly, The between lesson is today! We must go to the Bowl before Weyrlingmaster M'larain does. Ariana jumped from her bed before falling back down when her head connected to the bed above hers. "Shard it!" She cursed quietly, trying not to wake those who were still sleeping. How early had Wynnith woken her up? With her luck, the Lesson wouldn't even begin for another hour. Well, it was always best to be first anyway.
The Weyrling quickly dressed and raced out of the Girls' Barracks, accidentally bumping into a boy on her way. "Oh, sorry about that." She hadn't gotten a good look at who it was because she was off again in a minute. This was the best lesson ever! She had been looking forward to it since she Impressed, and Wyn was so excited as well. They both forgot the part where not many came back after their first time, but were too busy being overexcited that nothing mattered. Ari shoved meatrolls and fruit down her throat before downing two mugs of klah. In the Bowl? Yes, hurry! As if racing against time, the greenrider met with Hers in the Bowl.
It was empty of anyone other than a few older dragons sunning on the Perches and a few riders walking about. Where were they? Wyn, are you sure that it was today? The green seemed offended and replied tartly with, Of course! "Alright, then let me check you for any spots that need to be oiled in case the Weyrlingmaster decides to have a quick check up before the Lesson." Butterflies were fluttering through her stomach and she had to do something to keep her mind off of the day's lesson. The green hide glowed with health though, and there was nothing else that she could do but wait. "Well, at least Wyn is healthy...even if that means I don't have anything to do until the rest arrive." She sighed and scratched Wynnith's eye ridge, finding the same pleasure the green received flowing through their connection. How she loved being bonded.
As the rest of the group began to arrive, she listened intently to the Weyrlingmaster's words. Not coming back? She shuddered at the thought. Don't worry, mine. I'm here and we work great together. Ari smiled at Hers. Yes, that was right. The green weyrling supressed her fear as she stood tall among the others. They would not fail or give up so easily just because of a few words.
((R'nor postie will come asap, promise!))
R'nor had been up for hours and was impatiently waiting until the time to meet the Weyrlingmaster in the Bowl arrived. He didn't want to be the very first one there in seeming too goody, but his patience wore out long before he had arranged his arrival. The bronze weyrling rushed to the Lesson where two greens were already waiting with the Weyrlingmaster. Well, that just went to show just how naive these greens were. The goldie on the otherhand...
He has quite a thing going for the women in power. That's all he could think about. Not only was there a young Jr. Weyrwoman soon to take the Senior position, but there was a Weyrling Gold in his class! He couldn't get any luckier, and he had plans to get at least one of them. He was power-hungry and driven to succeed in all of his goals. He would be Weyrleader some day, and Wingleader just before that. R'nor knew he would change all of Pern, and he had the cocky arrogance to prove it.
As the Weyrlingmaster began the Lesson, he shrugged off the warning. There was no way he had to worry about that with Dagenoth and himself. We'll Impress them all, mine. R'nor let a mischievous smirk spread onto his lips. Indeed we will, Dag. He was confident that they would do everything perfectly on their first try. There was not one stray thought in his mind that doubted their skill in this lesson. Sure, he wasn't good at drawing the maps or anything, but when it came to Dagenoth and him working as a team, he felt they were invincible.
((Hehe Rayne...by the time we really get this started you'll have liek a third of the clas xD BTW, i'm assuming that by now, over a year together, they all at least know names.))
Celaena smiled as a fellow greenrider joined her. She spoke softly, "Are you nervous?" She hoped she wasn't the only one. She doubted it, 'tweening for the first time was scary. She crinkled her nose as that brownrider R'nor came. She bet he wasn't scared. She didn't really like him. He was much too cocky.
She waited for them to take off. She just wanted this over with...she wasn't really planning to enjoy this outing. Don't worry. How much do i have to say that? Orkith asked, a little exhasperated now. This is in my blood, its my intinct. We dragons have been doing this forever. Don't worry, little one. Celaena smiled. Orkith always made her smile. She closed her eyes for a second, trying to calm her nerves and she did feel a little better when she opened them. The sky seemed so big where she stood and she so small. Her delicate features scrunched into an expression of wonder. If the sky was so big, than between must be bigger; infinite and so easy to get lost.
((haha, very true..ive got three in the class: r'nor, ariana, and safiya...*sighs* maybe i should've taken one for each class instead of just one *grins* oh, and did i say that either r'nor or ari didn't know the names? sorry about that then, just pretend i didn't say that XD))
Ariana smiled at Celaena and then chuckled. "Who isn't?" She followed the other weyrling's gaze to R'nor. "Oh, right...he isn't. But he's just a Dimglow and think's he's all that. I would laugh if he failed...just so long as they make it back alive." She wanted them the mess up just so they could find out they weren't the best in Sodalis, but she could never wish for anyone to lose their life. That was too terrible a thought.
Almost everyone had arrived...meaning the lesson would begin soon. She took a deep breath through her nose and exhaled by her mouth. Somehow that helped her to relax, although seeing the others so nervous made her feel a bit better. Turning to Celaena, she whispered quickly, "Good luck". Then she smiled and focused on the Weyrlingmaster, who seemed to be preparing for giving the instructions.
Safiya tried to sneak in and join the class without the Weyrlingmaster noticing her late arrival. It wasn't as late as she thought, though, since there were still a few missing weyrlings. "Whew! I thought we were going to be the last ones here!" She turned and gave Ryceth a quick glare. "Next time you get a bath after the lesson so we are not this late!" She chuckled and turned back to the duo she had joined. "Hey! Celaena, Ari! Did I miss anything?"
She smiled, hoping they wouldn't mind filling her in on anything she might have missed. All the people in the class were always so nice, and she was proud to be a part of it. Sure, they laughed when she tripped randomly, but they would still help her to her feet. The only one she didn't like was the bronze on the opposite side of the class, who seemed to already be basking in his false glory. Sometimes she wanted to just toss him into the weyrlake. But she was sure he had his reasons for being the way he was...so she resisted the tempation.
"We're going between today, right?" Safiya couldn't hold back the excitement in her voice as she smiled like a child. This was the breaking point of Weyrling Training. If you could pass this test, you would make it as a Dragonrider of Sodalis Weyr. They were so close to graduating as well. It wouldn't be long before they were in real Wings with older riders and practicing drills for Threadfall. Her dream of Flight and Clutching was coming closer and closer, and she couldn't contain her excitement any longer.
She was going to burst with all the thoughts reeling inside her head. Calm down, mine. What is it, Ry? The gold was obviously shifting in nervous excitement now too. Your emotions are shared with mine, remember? I want to do this right, and for that you need to calm down. Safiya froze as she remembered. Oh, I'm so sorry, Ryceth. I promise to be calm for the rest of the lesson. I'll help in any way I can. The weyrling supressed the excitement and awaited further instructions.
