Kistanal peeked around the corner, happily seeing two other Candidates pick up and leave. Well, she was happy for them, and a bit jealous. She wasn't happy that they left. With a little wicked grin, she went and ocupied a nice cozy chair. There was still room left for another person, but Kistanal doubted anyone would want to sit by her. For one she was new. Horribly new. Only two chores completed so far. So she hadn't had much interaction with any other Candidates. Secondly, she had so far not gotten along with one candidate. And she didn't know the full extent to the power of that Candidate. Zylaera could be the all-powerful Candidate, the one who was worshiped. Kistanal didn't know. Maybe they could bond sometime. Dismising the thought, Kistanal thought of the third reason.
Oh, yes, the third reason why no one would want to sit with her. Kistanal was carefully plucking at her tunic, trying to avoid this reasoning. Carefully she plucked a bit of flint, then a thread... Finally she sighed. She couldn't avoid it. She was obviously not cut out for candidate-hood. Oh, she wanted to Impress. To have a lifemate that would never, ever look at another with lust woudl be wonderful. But she just couldn't get along with the hers. It seemed like she was a black rose in a buchel of whites. She just stuck out. She had been sick. She had finished first. Everyone else got along--or tolerated-- with Zylaera! What was wrong with her? With a frown Kistanal pondered her reasoning. Her leg's were crossed, breeches taut. Her tunic was ruffled, but she didn't know. Her carefully curled hair was a bit smoother today, and was curling down her back happily. Her brown eyes were deceitful, showing the seemingly asleep girl to be thinking very hard.

((just a heads up Zylaera isn't technically a candidtae. She's a Weyrbrat and has rather mixed felings for candidates who do outrank her. She is only little above a drudge but permitted to stand for clutches. She sort of rules the children ie Weyrbrats, of the lower canverns and doesn't want one of those stupid candidates enroaching on her domain.))

((Yeah, I guessed that. But Kistanal doesn't know that. I think Zylaera did introduce herself as a Weyrbrat, but it slipped Kistanal's mind. *laughs manically* I'm just evil to meh charries. Lets see is Jess caught the little bit of her name in there!))

Chani entered the commons area from the girls dorm. She carried a large bundle of dried grasses. Her mother had taught her to weave baskets. She enjoyed that more than weaving cloth. She hated to be stuck inside at the loom.
Glancing around the room for a place to sit she noticed the new girl sitting in the area she wanted to use to spread out her grasses. I wonder if she would mind if I sit by her Chani thought. Approaching the girl Chani said, "Hi, do you mind if I sit here? Kistanal, isn't that your name? I am Chani. I like to spread out my supplies and this area is perfect.

Kistanal had been lazily letting her thoughts float to her lost love when a girl, Chani or Shani, she thought, appeared. It seemed like she jumped out of no where. With a startled yet stupid blink, Kistanal nodded. Guessing she looked solemn, she tried to smile. She looked like she had a toothache. Clear him from your head, girl! She thought quietly. Shaking her hair daintily, Kistanal gave Chani a nice, warm smile.
"Go ahead. May I watch? I've never seen so many grasses... Weaving something?" She hurridly asked. If she didn't know better, she would have said it all in one breath. But she paused to breathe. Quizically she went over everything that was made with those particular grasses. She couldn't really think of anything that a Candidate would need, but who knew? Maybe it was a hobby, or a gift.

Keelan sauntered into the room from the boy's rooms, his hair a mess. He didn't mind though, it gave him a sort of 'rough-and-tumble look, which was all the more appealing.
He stopped to examine the two occupants, his dark eyes warm.
"Good day, ladies," he said, a small smile appearing on his lips.
He stepped towards them and stopped for a moment before sitting in a chair where he could see them both, and leaning back comfortably before lacing his fingers together and putting them behind his head.
"How are you both?" He asked.

Kistanal felt a smile play on her face. Her eyes lit up happily. Two Candidates she hadn't been totally introduced to. Maybe she wouldn't get off on the wrong foot with these ones. Her eye's dancing happily, Kistana let her grin show. Two new friends? "I'm....better then I was yesterday," She said, her face contorting as she thought of the Butchering Chore. Yech. "What about you two?" Kistana changed positions, sitting indian-style with her elbows on her knees, chin propped on her hand.

Keelan considered Kristanal lazily, his dark eyes thoughtful as he answered.
"I'm doing well," He said, yawning a little. "Perhaps a bit... tired today." He paused for a moment as if reflecting, before adding. "I don't think we've met though... I am Keelan."
His eyes flicked from one girl to the other, and a smile played across his handsome features. "And you two are?"

Chani smiled at the new girl. "Sure you can watch. I am going to make a floor mat from these grasses. These floors are just too cold in the morning when I get up. A nice mat to step down on is what I need." she said. Seating herself on the floor she opened the bundle and began to spread the grasses out, sorting the different colors into neat piles.
Chani looked up as Keelan said good day. "I'm fine," she replied. Chani was a little surprised that Keelan didn't remember her name. She had never really associated with him but she sat only 4 chairs from him in classes. She smiled and said "I'm Chani". Just then a brown firelizard flew into the room from the girls side. He glistened with moisture from a recent bath. Landing on Chani's shoulder he crooned contentedly. "And this is Frink" she added hastily as she reached a hand up to pet him.

Kistanal nodded, her eye's gently floating from Chani to Keelan. "I'm Kist-" She knew she was about to say her full name, but the clever girl caught herself. She faked a small sneeze quickly, covering for her abrupt cut off. "I'm Kistana." She finally mumured, the corner of her mouth twitching. With a look of pure wonder on her face, she watched Chani sprt through the grasses. Maybe it seemed odd to Kistanal, but for this Candidate it seemed to come naturally.
Like...like my.... Kistanal couldn't really think of anything that came very naturally to her right then, other then breathing. With a nonchalant shrug, Kistanal eyed her two new acquintances, watching to see how they themselves would interact.

OOC: I totaly forgot about this one. I am soooo sorry. I don't know if ya'll want to continue but here goes.
Chani finished petting Frink and then sent him to roost nearby. Picking up some of the yellow colored grasses she began weaving them together. "My mother was a weaver and she taught me." she said to the others as she continued to look down at the mat she was creating. With turns of practice behind her she made it look easy. She continued to work as she asked. "How old are you Kistana? I am 17 turns." Chani used her shortened name, assuming it was a nickname.

OOC: Tis okay, I kinda forgot about it, to!
Kistana smiled. "Well, I'm fifteen, but I'll be sixteen very soon." Then she began to fidget, unaware of doing it. She was concentrating on the patterns in the weaving, thinking about how enchanting it would be to make usable things. "Can you make clothes?" The blonde girl blurted before chewing her lip. But instead of frowning, she concentrated on keeping her voice smooth. "I would love to learn to make dresses," Her voice didn't sound so blurted-outness now. It was smoother, but that did take concentration. It was obviously forced, but atleast she didn't sound like a bubbling, little girl with no sense at all.
