Temor moved quickly though the lower tunnels as he made his way towards the stables. He was a bit disappointed that Tomar could not have this chore with him but he could not expect to always be with his only friend. He did wonder who he would be working with however, and weather or not they where going to insist he hold a conversation with them. That was one thing Tomar never did, that boy knew that Temor didn’t like to talk if he didn’t have to and working was not a time to talk.
He entered the stables in time to see that he was the first one there so far. Sighing but smiling the Drudge turned Candidate went strait for the mettle rakes and then a little slower for the last stall in the line intending to work his way forward. Looking around and wondering were the others where Temor whistled to catch the runner’s attention. Patting the animal five times his size lightly on the nose he opened the gate and squeezed himself in, “you are a big guy aren’t you?” he whispered to the animal before patting him on the shoulder and going to work. “Just give me a few minuets and I will be out of your way and you will have fresh straw to stand on.” Animals where one of the few things Temor liked to talk to, but even after this simple sentence he fell quite silent and focused on the job to be done.

Zylaera whistled as she headed into the stables. For once, she had a free shore slot and was going to make the most of it. She was going out for a rider, one of her absolute favorite things to do. She nodded to her father, the stable hand Thaerne as she entered. She liked spending time with him in the stables, but she knew he was still sore, because she had deicded to follow her mother's craft instead of his. "Hi papa. is Lorka tacked up?" He nodded, he always knew when she was coming and had her old red mare ready for her.
She laced up her long dark riding boots and bottoned her soft hide jacket. The Weyrbrat walked into one of the back stalls and led out her runner. As she did a final check on the arness, saddle bit etc. She noticed a candidate boy cleaning out stalls. He seemed to really like the Runners and she appreicated that. "You like the stables, and the Runners?" She asked quietly, not with her normal, self important air, "Its one of my favorite places."

Temor stuck his head out of the stable as he heard someone enter. He retracted quickly however hearing the short conversation and seeing that the girl was not here to work but to ride. He went back to work only to be called up again as the Weyrbrat spoke directly to him. Looking around the quiet boy pointed to him self to make sure it really was him she was talking to, then he nodded realizing that the first gesture was a stupid one as he was the only one there besides the one other stable hand.
The candidate smiled broadly and patted the runner again to emphasize his point with out saying a word, very few people at the Wyer knew he could talk at all and he liked it that way for some reason even he could not explain.

Zylaera grinned at the boym "You're quiet aren't you. Thats ok. Runners are quiet too." The weyrbrat couldn't ever imagine shutting up, practically, but to each his own. "Yah i'm talking to you." She answere his motion, laughing only a little, but not in a mean way. "So you come down here alot," Even if he didn't talk, they could still have a conversation. She straddled herself over Lorka, but just sat there. She wasn't really in a hurry to get going.

Rylene walked once again onto the stables to clean out the stalls. Shewas getting kinda used to the smell of the animals, though she didn't think she could every like it. Rylene spotted Zylaera and smiled. She seemed to be running into her a lot over the last sevenday. "Hi Zylaera. You gong out for a ride." Rylene didn't yell loud, she didn't want to scare the runner and have Zylaera get hurt.
Rylene stood a fewpaces back from the Runner and then heeard Zylaera talking but not to herself. I wonder who she's talking to? Rylene tried to get a clear view but the Runner blocked it. She would just have to ask. "Hey who are yopu talkin' to??" She smiled but couldn't keep the questioning look off of her face.

Temor smiled sheepishly as the girl knowingly pointed out his silence, but she didn’t seem as though she was going to push him to talk but neither did it seem like she was going to leave. He shrugged at her question; he only really ever came down here to clean although he had had that core a lot in his life. He picked up his rake and started to clean again but looked back up at the girl, telling her in his own way why he ever came down here.
But they were not alone anymore as one of his partners seemed to have shown up. From his stall Temor could not see her but he could hear her and he poked his head around the corner to get an even look at her. Seeing her the Drudge gone Candidate smiled and waved her over, he remembered Temor saying something about meeting her the other day during his own chore he just wondered if she would notice as so many others did exactly how much alike the two boys looked. They could be mirror images of each other if Temor would just die his hair and Tomar had brown rather then one green and one blue eyes. Temor had lost count of the amount of times he had been mistaken for his friend and vise versa.

Rylene saw a person poke there head around the runner and smile. She smiled back, which was only the polite thing to do. She started sorting through her head for names, finally coming to Temor. At first glance Rylene had thought it it was Tomar, but Temor's eyes gave him away.
"Hey Temor. How'r you doing? Are you my partner for this chore??" Rylene walked around the Runner as she spoke, though she made sure she didn't get too close to it, just in case. She smiled at Zylarea sitting above her and then looked bakc at Temor. Rylene knew he rarely talked, and there were rumors that he was mute. But she knew better to ignore those rumors, she had heard him talk a few times before, only a few though. Rylene wondered if Temor would talk to her now.

"Hi Rylene," Zylaera smiled happily, "You got to clean out the stables as well." Her eyes twinkled, she was going to go for a ride. "Well, now that this lad has some company i'll be going. oh and no need to do Lorka's stall. I'll handle that one." She cocked her head, smiling down at them. then kicked her runner gently, for she was rather old, and guided her out of the stables.
She nodded curtly to her father as she passed. Sudi, her little green flit took to the skies, she loved flying alongside Zylaera as she rode. she clicked her heels again into the mares soft belly and they were off. Riding was what Zylaera loved most in the world, the wind rippling through her long hair and the speed made it close to flyiong. If she Impressed she would be sad to give Lorka up, but the old runner would need a rest.

Tomar nodded at Rylene as she moved closer and waved good bye to the other girl as she rode away. He stroked the runner a bit staring after the girl, he had never been riding himself he was always working or getting into trouble with, and because of, Temor. But he did wonder at times like these, while he was cleaning up after them, what it would be like to ride a runner.
Giving his head one sharp nod Tomar decided that if he did not impress he would have to try riding runners, at least once. That decided the boy looked over at his partner for this chore and motioned questioningly towards the stable doors and then to the two of them, asking if any others would be coming. It wasn’t until after he had made the motion that he realized that Rylene might not understand all of the motions that Temor could read as a second nature. But he would wait for an answer or a confused look from her before elaborating.

"Bye Zylarea have a nice time." Rylene waved to Zylarea's back as she rode away. Rylene walked a little closer to Temor and watched his motion's. It took a second but Rylene got the message. "Oh..no. Well actually I'm not sure who else is coming, I guess it's just us." Rylene shrugged her shoulders and nodded. "Why don't we get started, if it's only the two of us this might take a while." With that said she searched around for the wheelburrow and shovel-thing, she didn't know what it was called.

Tomar smiled, glad that she had understood him so quickly but then shrugged at her answer, they where just going to have to find out as time went on after all. He watched her for a bit not sure what she was looking for but then snapped his fingers, making the runner’s ears twitch, before he rushed out and back to the front of the stalls.
Wiping back into the storage stall he found one large wheel barrel and a rake for Rylene and two shovels, as he had forgotten to get his own earlier. Placing the utensils in the barrel he came back around wheeling it with a little difficulty, do to his size, back towards the back.
He placed the barrel in the very middle of the row and smiling motioned that he would finish his and that she should take the one directly on the other side, that way they could share the wheel barrel.

"'Oh great!! I was afraid that we wouldn't be ble to find the tools and wheel barrel. I only just started doing chores here so I'm still sort of unsure were everythings kept." Rylene had picked one of the shovels s she spoke and examined someof the stalls Before truning back to Temor. Okay "I'll do the one arcross from you, the stall with the bayin it?. Then we'll just keep going down...or something like that."
With a deep breath and a quick smile at Temor, Rylene approched the Bay's stall. Opening the latch she managed to get in with the Runner without incident. She worked around the animal, just incase it got scared and kicked. She was half done with her stall when she turned back to Temor to see how he was doing. "How'r you coming along Temor?? She didn't expect a reply so she looked over and waited to see a riased hand or something.

Temor nodded again happy at her assessment of the situation and started to work right away, but not with out noticing how careful she was around the runners. He managed to clean all the rest of his stall in record time considering that he had started early and that he had had this chore quite a few times before. He had just finished and was leaning on his shovel to watch the girl when she looked up and called to him.
The boy waved at her butt tilted his head; a little pulsed and moved the few steps closer to her stall. “Are you afraid of runners?” his voice was soft but not to high pitched as he spoke still tilting his head at her.

Rylene blinked and was silent for a second before responding to him. "Ah...I don't really know how to act around Runners, and I've heard a lot of stories about people getting hurt by them. So I'm just being careful." She was grinning, he had talked to her! That had surprised Rylene but she wouldn't make a big deal about it. If Temor wanted to talk she was open for an conversation, but Rylene was fine with just working to.
"Do you work down here a lot? Since becoming a Candidate I have been going to all sorts of chores..." Rylene sighed it wsa getting tiring, but its just preparing them for their dragons...she guessed.

Temor shrugged and patted her runner as it moved over to investigate him, he supposed she was right to be cautious, most of the runners where good calm beasts but a few, two in particular where monstrous. Flame, a bronze riders runner that was used for breading was on his side a little further down and Dusty was on her side almost right across from the Stallion.
To her question the new candidate just nodded, he had been down here rather a lot actually, for someone who had no real experience with runners he considered it a nice change from working in the kitchens or in the halls.
