C''tan walked in to the Weyrhall, hair still wet as usual and found himself in the middle of the Weyrling breakfast rush, also as usual. He loaded up his tray with a large breakfast, knowing he would need every bit he could manage to cram in and then went to his usual seat.
A quick scan up and down saw no problems, no one was trying to play games with the seating today, so hopefully this would be a calm breakfast. Some of the Weyrlings could be quite grumpy in the mornings, good for only drinking klah for the first few minutes of the meal, and finding someone in the seat they expected to collapse into could cause trouble. He had learned in the first month that it was well worth his time to make sure the klah pitchers never got empty for his class, even on the days when he was mostly asleep. Or was it especially on the days he was mostly asleep?

J'zyn walked into the dining area just in time for the breakfast crush. He winced inwardly as he hated crowds, and this definately counted. He ducked under the upraised arms of a serving girl, and scooted up to the buffet line. Scooping copious amounts of the vegetable laden omalets, chopped fried roots, and roasted meats onto his plate, he balanced it on one hand and grabbed a large mug of klah in his other. Taking a sip of the savory, hot beverage, he looked for a good seat, and saw an open spot at one of the Weyrling tables. Crossing the traffic flow once more, he wound his way over, and slid in neatly to the end seat of a long bench. He carefully set his laden plate and full mug down, and breathed a quick sigh of thankfulness. He had been up most of the night before with several of the other weyrlings studying and only managed to stumble to bed about the fourth mark of the night. Two hours did not a happy camper make, he figured, as he dug into the delicious but barely noticed, food.
It is not my fault, is it? came a worrried query from his bronze, Zamyth. The dragon had fallen asleep early in the evening, and hadn't even twiched when J'zyn came dragging tail into the room so early in the morning. J'zyn put his fork down, sighing. No, Zammie, its just me, and I'm tired. Sorry I feel so grumpy. he apologized, knowing the bronze was no doubt picking up on his angst at being up so soon.
All too soon, about half a candlemark, his klah was gone, and he looking wearily at the now empty bottom of mug, then tilted it to his lips to get the last drops. He glanced at the far side of the room, where the food and klah tables were, and grimaced. He dreaded the thought of getting up and crossing that crowded room for more klah that would only be gone in another candlemark. In his foggy mind, he'd forgotten that pitchers were on the tables at the major meals for just reasons. He made to go slip off to get more klah, mug in hand , when a hand on the arm of his tunic caught at him.

"sit, sit." C'tan told him as he reached for a pitcher. "I'll pour you more klah. as sleepy as you are acting, you're a hazard walking" He grinned to show he was teasing and filled his fellow bronze riders mug.
A quick look at J'yn's plate reasured him his classmate wasn't sick, he'd eaten enough to make it through to mid day, no problem.

J'zyn managed to look at C'tan, a little bleary eyed but alert, in a tired way. It registered what the other weyrling had said, and he shifted back in his seat. Moving his mug to the proferred pitcher, he smiled his thanks.
"I'm not usually this bad," he said, trying to stifle a yawn. He tilted the refilled mug to his lips, and sipped judiciously at the still hot liquid. "Ah, klah, what would we do without it?" He managed a few more bites, reducing his plate rather quickly. He ate with a grace and economy of motion most lacked, even when tired. A few more tugs at the klah mug, a few more bites, and he seemed almost human. Almost He looked up, startled, glancing around. Grr..you bronze bohemoth... he growled back, realizing who spoke.

"Yah, I know. Thats probably why I noticed you, you aren't one of the walking dead in the morning, usually."
There was still time left for eating, C'tan wwent back to his seat to eat another roll and enjoy being in the middle of everything. He knew most of the people in the Weyr, at least by sigfh and meals were the only time he got to see the Weyrbrats anymore.

"True," he said, inhaling more food as body demanded it. After several minutes he sat back, palte nearly clear, klah mug in hand, looking sated. "Whew, I don't normally inhale my breakfast, but staying up late studying can take it out of you. That bronze laggard of mine snored the entire time too." He covered a great yawn with a calloused, but delicate hand. His eyes gleamed slightly wearily, and he smiled. "Still out a bit, I guess." He said good naturedly.

Kathrein ate quietly at the head of the table. She was glad her weyrlings were having a quiet morning as well. She had a full day planned out and wasn't in the mood for any antics. Sipping her klah, she mentally went over the lessons for the day.
