Glepgh watched with eyes that were slowly growing hungry. The little greens and blues seemed to pass quickly out of his sight and mind as he focused one after another on the darker colors of browns and bronzes. There seemed to be a good number this clutch, even though he had never attended others or heard of them for that matter. In his eyes, however, with so many eggs there had to be one in there for him.
A joyful laugh sounded next to him and Glepgh glanced over to find the young boy Searisan with a little green. Blinking his eyes, he found himself surprised. Were greens not female? Shrugging it off, he turned his attention back to the rocking eggs. Even if greens were female, they appeared to be the most social of those here and Searisan was defiantly a talkative guy, of that Glepgh was sure.

Flurinath hatched with brown Teryth, and aafter the two had bumbed into each other, they sat down and began to cry. Flurinath got over his first and jumped back up to amble to the candidates. Teryth quickly followed, and the two almost vied over the same boy, but when Flurinath hissed, Teryth found another boy that matched him better.
Pah. That brown wasn't good enough for you, S'wer. Not like your Flurinath.
I like you much better than that boy, Y'ero, the light brown dragon told his new rider. I'd much rather be your Teryth than his.
Suddenly, three eggs cracked and hatched at once, and Merda didn't know which one she wanted to watch hatch more. A blue and two greens graced the sands in carying degrees of hurry to get to their partners. The pale green sat and looked at the candidates before making her decision. The other green went directly to her rider as if she had always known her.
When the pale green finally made her decision, it was on a particular young lady. Oh, Kistanal, there you are. Let us go eat a bit, your Rinth's stomach burns like the fire of a bronze's!
Your Zenth is hungry, I'nor, the little green said haughtily. You ought to feed me.
The blue followed the second green's suit, and hurried to a young man he thought well fitted to be his rider. P'ron, I am so hungry! Please, how can your Relaith feel better? Help me! the deep cerulean pleaded, adding a croon on the end of his thought.
Three eggs crumbled in varying speeds, but three dragons fell out and down about the same time. The first blue to step forward was lighter than his brother and green sister, and he shuffled along to his rider, knowing instinctively which would be best suited for him.
Jeriluth knows you're the best, my H'mnir. I also know how hungry we are both, now that you are mine, the blue said confidently.
The much darker blue, however, was patient, and took more time than his blue brother. Eyeing each of the candidates, he chose an older candidate who had been around long enough to learn as much patience as his dragon.
You have proven patient through my hatching, and your Clarth is grateful. I'll be even more grateful if you cease my stomachs' rumble, K'men, the dragonet told his rider.
Hurrying as she found herself lagging behind her brothers, the yellow-green dragon made her Impression as quickly as her dark blue brother. She found an aura like hers, who would want to rest after a hard day's work, who would not be lazy, who would excel with her in life.
Seph, your Karth is here, and hungrily so. Let's have a nap after we eat, she said, knowing it would take much work to slake her hunger and thirst.
Another set of eggs rocked and hatched as the hatching continued. They were among the last few left, and the audience held their breath for another bronze, but were left high and dry. The green that hatched crooned encouragingly at her brothers and sisters and continued on her way to her own chosen.
Some of those around us seem so scared, Amneris. Why? she asked, not fully understanding all the emotions around her. Excitement dominated, but there was also a sharp, acrid smell. It was fear, and the dragonet whistled nervously. You Fusth is worried. Will they be okay? More importantly, will my stomachs?
The last in the group sat, contemplating his choices, wanting the best for the rest of his life. Spying a young man in the back, he ambled in his direction, calling out to him both vocally and verbally.
My rider, my H'nen! Here I am. I search no longer, except for food! Your Betheroth is here to be with you!

(Thank you Mem ) Amneris was caught up in watching the little blues and greens hatch, they were much more vibrant in color than their brothers and sisters. It wasn't until she was spoken to that she realized that one of teh dragonets wanted her. Her head scremed at her, "no... I couldn't.... I am not... I can't be." Her heart won her over, how could anyone deny sucha delightful littel green? they are worried that they will be hurt or killed, Hatchings are dangerous. She thought spoke to the dragon without a moment's hesitation. "Fusth, theres nothing to worry for. They will be fine. What we need to do is get you to a meal." Solo seemed to agree on that heavily. Looking at the little green curiously he wrapped his tail around Amneris' neck. If you are sure everyone is alright. the bright pear green dragon followed Amneris out of the way of the still hatching dragons. Food was next on their list... ---------------------- Feeling that he might be dissapointed once again, Hanen noticed fewer and fewer eggs were left to hatch. He pushed the feelings of helplessness out of the way. There were some dragonets left though none had even seemed to look at him or consider him as a choice yet. He was young, that was true, but there were others who impressed as young as he, though perhaps not regularly. He should have been more determined but he found himself floundering at that. Hanen continued to try to be more positive but the fact was there were few eggs left. He watched as he saw a tall blonde girl with a brown flit impress to a pear green colored dragon and let his eyes rest on the blue hatchling who seemed to be taking his time. Hanen wished he would hurry up already... just as the thought crossed his mind the blue began to croon to him and speak simultaneously. He felt the different emotions wash over him and suddenly felt a bit of an inner peace. "Betheroth is it?" He smiled. " If you hunger than we shall get you fed. I blieve we are to go this way. " He looked slightly confused, Sodalis seemed a bit different than Lateo. Or we could just follow the others...haha... right. Hanen and his blue left the sands.

Terriel stood with the other candidates, his white robe perfectly white with not a speck of dirt on it. And fit him perfectly showing his good physique. He had seen his dad's brown dragon Drasynth and was wondering if his family was watching in the Stands hoping that he would Impress. He just hoped that they won't be disappointed again if no hatchling chooses to Impress him. In any case, he hoped that he would Impress this time but alas, so far the hatchlings have been passing over him for a turn now. 'May be this time things would be different.' he thought as he watched the hatchlings come out of their shells and Impressing their Chosen. He watched with bated breath as he heard the first egg shatter and a large bronze was revealed. He didn't notice the other hatchlings Impress their chosen, a green a blue, the two browns... he didn't even feel too sorry for the poor candidate that got plowed down by the bronze. 'I wonder who he Impresses' Terriel thought. He didn't need to wonder too long as the bronze made his way to his Chosen. The bronze having made his Impression, Terriel pulled back his wandering attention and focused on projecting his love and welcoming for the other hatchlings that were walking around the sands trying to find their Chosen. As time passed and the hatchlings Impressed, he got a sinking feeling that he would not Impress again this time. 'No worries, I'm still young and I don't care how long it takes until I Impress.' he told himself to stop feeling sad. He still projected his welcome and his love hoping that a hatchling would deign to choose and Impress him.

It seemed as if over half the eggs had hatched now and Glepgh found himself growning more impatient. Did hatchings always take so long? The queen eggs was finally rocking with the rest of them, but he did not care about that little gold. Queens impressed to females and who would want a queen when he could ride a king anyways? It was those bronze beasts up on the ledges that lined the cave that made Glepghs heart pause and question if a life at sea was really what he wanted to live. As it was, at his age, he had only this one chance to change his lifestyle; this one hatching to impress.
Deciding that standing there watching was not going to do him any good, he took in a breath and stepped about half the distace to the eggs, putting himself much closer than the other candidates as his eyes searched the rocking masses. If there was one here for him, he was not going to wait for it to find him. He wanted to know his fate here and now; he was not one to wait.

It is amazing really, how much your bones can vibrate with the humm of hundreds of dragons inside the hatching cave. Amoare did not realize it was possible, having always been away from the hatching sands durring a hatching, to have her bones feel as if they'd never still again. For the hundreth time she looked around at the other gold candidate girls like she had so many times in the barracks. She had never really gotten to know any of them, perfering to keep with her weyrbrat friends. Now, she found herself wishing she would have simply so that she knew if any of them were in fact, above her on the worthyness list. Was she going to be good enough for a gold?
For the first time, when it came to the hatching she had always dreamed of, Amoare began to question herself.

Another set of four eggs rocked and hatched as the hatching continued. They were among the last few left, and the audience held their breath for another bronze, but were left high and dry. A brown nosed his way out first, the biggest brown of the clutch, and he numbly glided over to where he felt his lifemate feeling sad.
My T'riel, what is wrong? Werunth knows it took him a long time to get out of his shell, but he is here now with hungry stomachs and a lot of love! the dragonet said, softly reassuring his rider.
The blue that first approached the candidates ignored the brown and his chosen immediately, going to a presence as strong and assured as he.
S'hal, can you believe them? Who's sad on a birthing day? It makes Hiarth shake his head, and indeed, the dragon shook his small head, throwing himself off balance. Straightening himself, he spoke briskly. Well then. Shall we go feast, my love?
The green and the last bronze hatched directly before the golden egg, giving lend to the doubt of the golden egg's hatching. Many people began to worry that the lesser dragons meant that the queen egg had been stillbirth, a thought that was quickly remedied when it started to rock and shake violently. When the queen's egg shards spattered everywhere, one of the shards caught the bronze dragonet's wingleather like shrapnel, and cut into it, though not through it. He whistled his pain and quickly stumbled over to the candidate huddle, willing one of them to help him.
It hurts! G'lep, it hurts! Oh, please, my stomach, my wing...help your Kevth!
One did, and Mernth stopped crooning her worry and quickly found a candidate more to her liking. She approached the boy quickly and claimed him before the gold could hatch and steal him away.
Sh'shy, you are my rider! Not that gold sister's! You are Mernth's rider, and I love you more than she ever could! the dragonet said. Let's go get something to eat, she suggested after the hunger set in as the two minds melded in harmony.

Glepgh's mind spun as his mind filled with not only pain, but a voice not all that dissimilar from his own. Raising a hand to his head, he looked around and quickly spotted the little dragon that had cryed out for help; Kevth. Without a moments more hesitation, he ran to the dragnet and fell to his knees, large hands shaking as he held them out to the now bloody bronze hide.
"Oh Kevth... Shit what do I do?" he said out-loud as he looked around at the candidates and those in the stands.

Merda cried out and rushed forward, but not quick enough to stop the small bronze from lashing out and slashing the young man's arm. Blood flowed from his arm, the gash was deep and the wound would need careful tending. "J'ren!" Merda shouted for the Weyrleader. He was very knowledgable about these wouds; he had one across his chest from his own Impression. The man brought the weyrhealer, who moved to help the young man.

G'lep bit back the cry of pain as the dragon slashed out at him in panic. Holding his right arm tightly, he could only frown at the blood; not his own but that of the little dragons. That shard needed to be taken out. Feeling a hand on his shoulder from the weyrhealer, he shook it off.
"Kevth first. That needs to come out." He said moving toward the bronze once again, this time trying to talk sense not only to himself, but the frightened dragon as well. "Its okay, we'll make it stop hurting... please... don't panic..."[/i Taking his hand off his own fresh wound he reached out to the dragon, pleased to find that he did not lash out this time but brought his head to meet his fingertips.
Ooo it hurts. Make it stop G'lep, make it stop. the little bronze cried as he leaned heavily on him with the side opposite the shard.
G'lep reached down, taking careful hold of the bronze as he wrapped his wounded right arm gently around Kevth's neck to hold him still, just in case, as he slowly slid the other to hold his body. Looking up to the weyrleader, he said nothing but greeted him with pleading eyes. Just because he knew what had to be done didn't mean he knew how to do it.

J'ren smiled down at the boy. "Just pull it out, boy. It's only stuck in the wing, after all." Merda, beside him, sighed. It seemed like someone got hurt every Hatching...but she still wouldn't trade it for anything.
Calm down, my little One, Caliath told Kevth. The people can help you, but you must be careful with them. The gold crooned to her bronze son.

OOC: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thanks a lot Mem for the brown! ^_^
IC: Terriel couldn't believe it. There it was, a voice in his head not unlike his own. He was almost afraid to look down at the hatchling not wanting for it to just be a daydream of his. But he didn't want that voice to tink that he did not want him so he did look down and to his amazement, there he was. A beautiful brown and the biggest so far of the clutch. And as the two looked at each other's eyes, the bond and the love between them grew deeper. Terriel, had never felt this profound unconditional kind of love. He was so touched that tears started to fall out of his eyes. 'No not Terriel, but T'riel.' he corrected himself. With shaking hands, he reached out, Oh Werunth... Werunth, I have waited for you so long. T'riel said through their mind link. Yes, I know. I am sorry it has taken me ever so long. Werunth said as he butted his head on T'riel's chest demanding a scratch and an embrace. T'riel didn't even wonder at how easy and natural the mind link felt. But before he could wonder, Werunth's hunger was communicated through their bond and it was as if T'riel himself was starving of hunger. He could not believe how hungry Werunth felt. "Well Werunth, what say we take care of that hunger of yours?" T'riel asked his beloved brown. Yes! Yes please, I really am ever so hungry, love. Werunth replied as he followed T'riel out of the hatching sands.
However, before T'riel took his fourth step away from the sands, he heard a cry of pain and whirled around thinking the worst. Heart pounding in his cheast, he realized that Werunth wasn't the one that had cried out. Over in the sands, a bronze had gotten hurt by a shard of the egg that shattered from the golden dragonet's egg. He was torn between wanting to help out the bronze and wanting to get his dragonet fed. In the end, Werunth's well-being won out and they continued out of the sands to try and find where the food was. 'I'm sure the bronze will be taken cared of by his own Chosen.' he thought as he led the way to where the food for Werunth was.

Amoare watched, amazed at the power of the little queen as she shattered her egg sending shards everywhere. The cry of pain that followed did not even make her flinch as she watched, completely enraptured by the golden hide...

Jaw agape, Kami could only stare and watch as the queen shattered her shell an in the process injured her brown brother. The hatchling's cries of pain ripped at her heart and she was hard pressed not to rush out and aid the poor thing. But then Merda was there, with the ever watchful Caliath and Kami found herself releasing breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. As the little brown was taken care of she let her eyes shift to the young queen. What a beginning, even if the creature hadn't meant to, coming into the world while injuring another. The Harper swallowed, she didn't know dragonriders well but that couldn't be a good sign. But then it seemed these hatchings were filled with as much pain as joy. She looked about at the other candidates, those who would be found unworthy. What sorrow that would be, and some knew the feeling many times over. Kami took in another deep breath, her own heart uncertain.
She trusted Z'rion, she wanted to believe in Viderieth. But what were the odds, so many hopeful girls stood as hopeful as she. And there was only one Queen, she would only find one girl worthy of her. But oh the promise of flight, the promise of radiating such joy that she saw other riders show when in contact with their dragons. Taking a deep breath she knew again and again she was lost to this hope. But she had to question, she couldn't fully hope, who could after all. One needed something to fall back upon.
Her eyes fixated on the young Queen, wild in her hunger and need to find her partner. Kami's dark eyes dilated and she was ready to rush forward as quickly as rushing back. The hope deep in her threatened to drown her now that she saw the creature. Even in this awkward, shell wet state she was beautiful, all dragons were of course. But this little creature had something different about her and Kami couldn't help but plead in her heart. The promise of love forever and unconditional, the promise of flight, the promise of being bound inexorably to such a giant and gentle beast. Her heart lept into her throat and even if her mind screamed against the hope it overwhelmed her and Kaminari stared, an awestruck child in the face of pure wonder.

The occupant of the golden egg made a dramatic, breathtaking entrance into the world by waiting until everyone of her clutch mates had hatched before breaking out of her own shell. As she threw off the shards (for she had been working on breaking the weakening shell for most of the Hatching), she crooned and stretched her wings out, she headed for the group of girls meant for her to choose from. The room grew eerily quiet as the crowd and candidates held their breath, waiting to see who the dragonet would choose as her fortunate rider. The muck from her egg dripped from her extended wings onto the hot sands on the Ground's floor as she stumbed over to the halfcircle of young women, standing together and all looking hopeful. The last hatchling approached faster, and a few girls, who were always together and not very kind to anyone, stood in front of the gold. The dragonet snorted and headbutted the three out of the way. They landed on the floor, each a little scraped from landing on the hot sands, but not too injured. Another girl got in the way when she attempted to help the fallen girls up, and the gold dragonet rammed into her, losing what infantile patience she had. That girl stumbled back, tipped, and landed on her back, bashing her head on the ground and pulling another young woman down with her.
"This is a fiasco, Caliath. Can't you tell her to be careful?" Merda murmured to her gold, who had clutched the little dragons.
No. She'll learn, as they do now, Caliath replied at her most indignant. Merda just sighed.
Meanwhile, the small gold had finally reached a girl, who was looking a bit worried, and crooned politely to her. My name is Periheth. You are mine now, Amoare.
