D'len faced the three classes seated around three tables with his usual pride. They were coming along well indeed. He knocked his fist on the Spera table to call the Weyrlings to attention, "As you know, for 1 day every two weeks your Weyrlimgmaster gets a day of from you tiring young folks," He smiled, at the group and paused, "And i will be in charge of your lessons today. Asst. Weyrlingmaster J'ru will be working with me on this." As much as he loved his charges they could be wearisome. "I will instruct the Lubor class first and i excpect the rest of you," He eyes the elder two classes, "To be quiet."
After dealing with the Lubor and Spera classes he finally made it to the eldest class. "J'ru, i hope they behaved?" He nodded towards the other attending Weyrlingmaster and then faced his last class. 'You have all been doing extremely well and have gotten used to flying upon a dragon.
Well, in prepartion for your first flights between in a few weeks, we will be doing some organized flight drills. First of all though J'ru will have to check your equipment and then we'll get out to the bowl. I hope you've all kept your straps in good condition or you'll be cleaning the toilets whule the rest are out flying." He fixed them with his dark eyes and shadowed face.
He considered this to be the most important of the days drills, beause in a few weeks time they would be going between for the firts time and the hardest part of the job would resuarface. There was always one that never came out from the cold void. He, however, never lost faith that if they were in good enough condition and prepared enough an entire class would survive to graduation. He had honed his teaching down to a science and knew that this was the best prepared group yet. He sometiems wished that he could be Weyrlingmaster and enforce hsi ideas all the time but there had been very few cases of such events with a blue rider. However, as it often was with him, he never lost faith. He had been teaching Weyrlings for many turns and many turns longer than Weyrlingmasters often did. J'ru had moved into the job only recently as the passed Asst. Weyrlingmaster had suffered a nervous breakdown when several Weyrlings were lost between under his watch. Teachign Weyrlings was certainly not cushy job.
"J'ru will check your equipment and lead you out to the Rim while i finish up with the other two groups and then i will personally lead you in the drills. Now off you go." He stayed just long enough to check that they were dragging out there various straps and harnesses before making his rounds again.
He valued the Weyrlingmaster's trust greatly and was pleased that she tursted him to lead for these days, for they were some of the most enjoyable, however they were alot of work.
