P'resh laughed. This girl was intersting, to say the least! "Aye, my dear," he said, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles. "That, indeed, is close to the meaning of the word." He set her hand back to it's former position and turned back to the fire, smiling.
He took a sip of his wine, and shifted his legs on the small, wooden footstool he had them on. Fingering his necklace, he said, "You have beautiful eyes, you know."

Her mouth dropped open ever so slightly as he kissed her hand. It wasn’t what she had expected but wasn’t at all unpleasant either. She couldn’t decide how to react to it but felt her face warming. After the next compliment, she smiled and found her tongue again.
“Well if that is the meaning of the word, it is only polite to return it.” she said a little playfully as she reached over and took the hand that was playing with the necklace. Bringing it to her lips she kissed as he had, but with a polite meaning even if it might not have seemed so.

Lifting his chin at her touch, he was somewhat shocked to see her kissing his hand back. He grinned, and he reflected upon not having met a female of this...calibre...yet.
"Oh my," he said, "how polite we are."
How flirty we are, he silently corrected himself. He heard Kaunth snort in his inner ear, and chuckled slightly.
As he turned to face her again, he began to observe her appearance, drinking in her beauty like his wine of choice. Her soft blue eyes complementing her raven her, her light colored skin, so different from his own. Her childlike smile caressing her features, barely creasing her cheeks. His own heart began to pump wildly, and his smile eased a bit.
He reached out with his hand took a lock of short hair round his finger. Smiling, he said, "More klah, Amoare? Or perhaps another drink?"

At the nearness of his hand, she reacted without thinking and tilted her head slightly allow her cheek to feel the warmth of it. Looking at her nearly empty cup and smiled. As she drank the last bit of it she eyed the wine he had asked for.
“What flavor is that?” she asked, a little tenitively. She’d only tried one other before and it hadn’t been to bad, although she was not sure if she should be drinking with such a high ranking rider.

While his had felt her soft cheek, he turned to see where to her eyes had drifted, and found himself looking at his cup.
"That is a somewhat tangier wine, it is called Merzenn," he replied somewhat fondly. It was his favorite flavor, of course, and not without reason. "Might the lady fancy some?" he said, withdrawing his hand. Without waiting for answer, he spoke to the nearest-by drudge. "Please bring me a skin of this Merzenn," he said, without a trace of the usual impatience in his tone.
"Aye, sir," replied the drudge, a young boy this time. His voice did contain bit of impetuosity. P'resh allowed his mind to wander as to the possibility of a future rider in the boy before turning back to his pleasant company.
"Ought to be back soon," he said, smiling rogue-ishly at her. "It's alright," he said, "I won't tell H'mei."

Amoare repeated the flavor in her head so she could remember it. Once sure she would remember it she found P’resh had taken the liberty of ordering the wine. Seeing his smile, a smile different from his previous ones but one that fit his face very well, she couldn’t help but return it.
“Thank You.” she said happily. Resting her head in her palm, she studied him for a minute. “Were you born here in the weyr?” she asked a little curious. Twenty six years was a long time and it had occurred to her that she never really seen him with many women like most riders. Then again, she thought to herself, she’d only started to really notice him around after she impressed Lues, her little bronze.

He leaned his head back against the frame of his chair. "Yes, I was born in the Weyr, but I left my family at a young age."
He remembered that as a young man, he had found his family somewhat...inadequate...and had elft them in search of greener pastures and better company.
"But let us not marr such good conversation with such bad memories," he said, attempting to change the subject. Women often found his assessment of his familial values distasteful, and therefore unnattractive.
"But perhaps you were wondering why I had not settled down like most others my age?" he suggested flirtaciously.

Amoare bit her lower lip as she realized that she had hit a painful spot unintentionally. Glancing down she silently scolded herself, but stopped at his next words, spoken with a pleasant air. Looking back up she couldn’t help but let out another smile, although it was a little weak from uncertainty.
“Actually… You’ve hit it in the head. That was pretty close to what I was thinking. I don’t see you with many women like the other Bronzers are…” she spoke, unsure suddenly if she should even be asking such things.

P'resh grinned at her uncertainty. "Not at all, my dear. I fear that I must be honest with you, no matter the outcome.
"I don't much enjoy the company of women, beyond certain...bedroom pleasures," he continued. If she wished to know, she would, like the consequences or not. "You are, in fact, the first woman I have been able to sit and talk with for any reasonable amount of time," he added, so she wouldn't feel as though she were the same as the others. She wasn't; in fact, he had been telling her the truth, and he felt differently about her than any other girl.
"I apologize if that wasn't quite the answer you were thinking of, my dear. You are different," he added as a reminder.

Hearing ‘bedroom pleasures’ sent blood rushing to fill her face to a brilliant red. Even with his reassurances the heat she felt in her face barely faltered. “Wasn’t exactly what I thought I’d hear…” she admitted. “Although I’m glad that you are able to speak with me.”
At that moment Amoare was relieved to find the boy return with a skin of wine. She now looked forward to the drink help calm her nerves and hopefully give her something to blame the bright blush on.

Though he saw the crimson blush spill her light cheeks, he politely kept his eyes on the fire. "No, I thought not," he said, almost regretfully. The boy came over with the wineskin, and handed it to P'resh.
"Thank you young man," he said, taking it. Before the boy could walk away, P'resh stopped him. "How old are you, lad?"
"I am thirteen turns, sir," he said. P'resh poured a glass of wine, handed it to Amoare, and turned back to the young man.
"I see. Will you be standing for the next clutch, then?" he asked, trying to give his companion enough time to become unblushing.
"No, sir. It will still be before I am old enough to stand, I fear," replied the young man.
"Ah. Well, be sure to stand when you can," P'resh told him tersely. "You'd be a good rider." It was one of few praises P'resh had ever given the drudges in the Weyr. The boy nodded and walked away. P'resh glanced at Amoare out of the corner of his eye, and decided that enough time had elapsed for it to be safe to talk again.
"But as far as that goes, I don't see you with many young men. That seems strange for a woman as beautiful as yourself," he said.

Amoare was thankful that P’resh seemed distracted with the boy serving them. Taking the moment to find something to distract her own wandering thoughts with she found a glass offered to her. Taking it she let the liquid wash her tongue leaving a remember-able flavor, one that she found was pleasant.
Hearing his next words, she held much better control of her features. Finding irony in the words he spoke she couldn’t help but smile. “Ah yes, well it is that I have yet to find a man I find worthy of my affections.” she answered rather formally although her eyes were dancing yet again. “Yet that does not mean it is a lost cause, one may turn up on the least likely of nights…”
Amoare found herself playing a game with the rider before her. She was using his words to tease him, and while she knew she should feel strange about doing such acts she found herself actually enjoying it. Surely he’d know she was teasing, being a grown man and all. Looking at his bare arms, Amoare couldn’t help but remind herself just how much of a man a Bronzer usually was.

At Amoare's words, P'resh simply smiled mischievously.
Hear that, Kaunth? "Least likely of nights"? Heh heh, P'resh told his dragon. P'resh was sure Kaunth would have rolled his eyes if he could.
"So, following along that thought, what would a man have to do to prove himself worthy, Amoare?" he asked, adding a flirtacious lilt to her name at the end. His own eyes twinkled, not much unlike hers, and a smile played at the corner of his lips. He sipped the wine.

Amoare put on a thoughtful face as she pondered the question. How could a man prove himself worthy? What was it that made women choose just one man? What would separate them from the rest?
“Well… A lot of little things I guess.” she finally answered, “They would have to be kind… gentle… fun… and a rider.” Amoare finished it with such an ending simply because she’d never imagined being able to fall for anyone of lesser stature.
After reflecting on her own answer for a moment she smiled again at P’resh. “Why, good sir, did you wish to know? Are you searching for someone for me?” she asked teasing him once again.

Sensing her teasing, he grinned. This was going to rank in his top five conversations. The other four had been with Kaunth.
Hey! the dragon said, obviously offended.
It's okay, Kaunth. Your's are the top four, P'resh said to his bronze, attempting to pacify the dragon. Kaunth snorted, but there was no reply.
"Searching out someone for you? I don't know about all that," he told Amoare, coming back to reality. "But I could think of a rider with most of those attributes...some more than others, though," he said, taking another lock if her hair to play with.
So far, Amoare was proving too good a find to lose. P'resh would be angy with himself if he let her slip thorugh his fingers, but this conversation was proving to be a fickle creature; it responded better to caress than strike, and Amoare was still, above all, a young woman. It would take gentle fun to grow this relationship. P'resh, overall, was shocked with himself. This had been the first time he had talked to a woman and not wanted the immediate end to be purely sexual.
