Amneris was in the middle of an ongoing song... her ever faithful canines lay at her feet. Half Note joined in every once in a while, her wolf howl joining in with Amneris's soprano voice. Her new brown flit lay sleeping in the crutch of her arm. He was always sleepy, but so cute. Tipp and Note didn't even mind him. They were in agreement that he was one of them and therefore got to share their Neris.

During the song Amneris pulled out her gitar making the music even better, Note got more excited. She loved instruments and started howling to augment the music some more. Neris hoped none of the other candidates minded her before bed musicals... she thought of possibly finding a place to play that would not disturb anyone, but that would take time away from her music as chores, lessons and taking care of her pets already took so much time from her. It was at times like this she did not regret her insomnia.

Amoare laid awake ontop her sleeping furs. The sparcely furnished room was pitch black and the other candidates she shared with were fast asleep. Amoare, however, was having a tough time joining them as she could hear the rain outside.

Terrors flashed thru her mind as she tryed to concentrate on anything but the drops falling. Thats when she heard the soft strum of guitar stings. Who on pern was up at this time? Deciding she didn't want to spend the night alone and awake, she softly stood and found her sandles.

A soft trill sounded thru the darkness and Amoare instantly put a finger to her lips, silencing the creature. Holding out a hand to the little bronze, he yawned and began to climb up her arm to perch on her shoulder. She smiled, but said nothing for fear of waking someone.

Outside the room, she walked down the hall to another curtained room where some more female candidates stayed. A soft glow emmited from the bottom and Amoare decided to just admit herself in rather than calling out to whoever was awake...

Amneris was absorbed in the music and had of course lost track of time. When did she ever know what time it was anyway? Her passion was her music and here she was singing and playing her heart out. Note was howling a little again at one of the high parts in the song. Tipp however lifted her head toward the entrance of the room. She got up in curiousity and emitted a low growl. She was the eldest pet and therefore the most protective. She seemed to stalk the entryway like a wild canine pack would its prey. Neris stopped wanting the canine to leave whoever it was that walked outside alone.
"Tipp, down." The canines head drooped and she sat eventually laying down completely. The blonde poked her head out from the doorway. She saw Amoare and paused, she knew her! Well at least she was beggining to meet people here. "Hello. Amoare, I hope I didn't wake you?" Neris looked a contrite and sincere. She just realized how late it really was. Of course, she was never one to sleep much.

Amoare had frozen, still as a statue, when the canine came her way growling. Seeing Amneris peak past the doorway, however, Amoare relaxed. She was kinda hoping it'd be the girl up tonight. She hadn't seen how she was doing after she left the infirmery wrapped in bandages and with a jar of numbweed in hand.

"Hello Amneris. No you didn't wake me." she said with a smile. Pointing to the canine she smiled. "A friend of yours?"

"Yes, that is Tipp my first canine, " She turned to see that Half Note stood at her heel. "and Half Note my second. Of course there is also my little sleepyhead who insists he is only hungry at night." She pointed to her sleeping flit coiled on her arm.
"Glad I didn't wake anyone. I completely lost track of the hour. Very much like me to do so. How are you since that day at the infirmary? Is your firelizard alright?"

Amoare smiled at the canines as she said hello to each of them. Looking back up at Anmeris, her grinned deepened. "Lues is doing ok, I think. He's not overly curious like I've heard some flits can be." Glancing at the bronze on her shoulder she smiled. "I think he's just lazy."

Realizing a moment later that there was a question before the inquirery to her flit, Amaore hurryed to answer it. "Oh I'm doing ok. The scabs are finally fading. They say that I'll have scars though. Doesn't bother me much, since I can't see my back and all." A worried look entered her eyes as she remembered Amneris's fainting that day. "And how have you been doing?" she asked, truely concerned.

"Oh I always fall hard and recover quickly." She smiled lightheartedly. "Besides my hair covers up most the injuries. I must say I wish I had a scarf to throw on my head to stop people from noticing the gaps of hair, but well, it is my own fault. I'm glad to here you are both well. I've yet to name the little brown. He is so odd and I hate to give a bad name. Names last forever." As a harper at heart, Amneris of course was stuck on a name it took her a full three sevendays for her to name Tipp.
"I think I will have agood ne once his personality starts to show. Mostly he sleeps all day, wakes up at night, so that I ahve to go and raid the kitchens for meet. He already had his first meal so he is resting more. I swear they grow more every day."
Note was circling and sniffing Amoare, her tail wagging. "She loves attention. If you pet her once she is not likely to leave you alone for a while. Where were you headed?"
As usually, Neris could talk more than any person she knew. Of course it was because she didn't talk to people for days at a time and then all the sudden realized she had a lot to talk about. She had the feeling Amoare and herself were going to be good friends especially if they both impressed.

Amoare had noticed that the canine had been circling her, but wasn't sure how to handle it. When Amneris mentioned that she liked attention, Amoare couldnt' help but want to offer some to the dog. Crouching low, she offered her hand, palm up, for the dog to inspect.

"Hello there." she said to the dog. Looking back up at the candidate, she shrugged. "I couldn't sleep. The rain... was keeping me up." she finished softly. Lues was eyeing the dog circling his pet, wondering if he should be upset over it or not. Finally he decided that it wasn't worth his time and curled himself around Amoare's neck, beneath her shoulderlength hair.

Half Note was all black with pointed ears, she looked like a Belgian Turveren from Terra. Herding dogs, though able to do other things. Tipp had the look of an a Collie on Terra, though her ears flopped over. She was brown and white, and much better behaved than her younger counterpart.
Half Note of course licked Amoare's face when she crouched down. She really did love people. Tipp barked at Note who immediatly moved back next to Amneris.
"I'm afraid Tipp bosses her around sometimes. Its a pecking order thing. Just like in dragons, Tipp would be the Queen and Note a green." She almost laughed at herself, shehad been working on music all day and now she was being lyrical when she spoke.

"Do you want to go check out the Night Hearth, its very comfortable up there. Plus my little one should be waking up soon, and ravenously hungry." Neris had both canines sit up on a single command from her. "Such well behaved girls. Do you want a treat?" She was speaking in a sweet little girl voice, to them. Half Notes eyes sparkled with the thought of a treat as she licked her chops. Tipp kept her eyes on Amneris at all times, moving only when she said so.

Amoare was caught off guard at Half Note's freindlyness, and laughed out loud as the dog licked her. Lues, on the other hand, wasn't so pleased. Giving off a quiet hiss, he simply glared at the intruder. Amoare sensed his discomfort and stood up.

Hearing the mention of food, Amoare's stomach growled, but not of her own hunger. The bronze had learned the word fast and he told his owner that he liked the idea of a full belly by sending her the feeling of hunger then one of comfort.

"Sounds great." she said enthusiasticly. The enthusiasum died quickly, as her smiled visibly melted. "Is it still raining outside?"

Amneris smiled. Flits were always funny like that. Hers would wake up as soon as he realized there was food involved. The lazy thing. "Do you not like the rain?" Amneris asked in wonder. Her family loved rain. It was all part of growing up on a farm cothold. Rain was necessary but it was also to play in. She remembered having mud fights with her brothers.

"We should stay dry and warm inside at least. The Night Hearth is always lit and its so warm and dry. It will be good for all of us in this weather." She motioned for the dogs to follow her. As she walked back into her room a moment, quickly strapping her gitar to her back. "I bring it everywhere." she explained. Though she always looked like quite the sight a gitar on her back, healing scrapes on her scalp, patches of missing hair, a flit in her arm and two canines trailing her every move.

Amoare frowned trying to remember if there were any back passages from the candidate barracks to the hall. She hadn't been at the barracks very long, so unlike the lower caverns, she didn't even know if there WAS a back way to anywhere from the barracks.

Seeing Amneris ready so suddenly, she decided it wouldnt' hurt to at least see if it was still raining. She could always come up with some excuse to go back... "Alrighty then. You can lead the way." she said with a smile as she stepped back, waiting for Amneris to go.

Amneris made her way ot of the barracks. If they made a run for it they should not get too wet. "We are gonna have to run for it. Ready go!" Amneris had long wiry legs and easily ran the distance quickly. Her dogs stayed at her side and her flit, who had been jostled into wakefullness, began to chatter at her in irritation. As they reached the entrance Amneris began to gasp for breath. "I hate running. Now I guess the Night hearth will seem even warmer." Amneris quickly check over her gitar. "I'm gonna have to tune it well tonight. Moisture and temperature changes always affect string instruments."

Amoare's face had turned pale when she seen the rain still outside. Her flit felt her fear and moved into her arms, allowing her something to hang on to. By the time Amoare managed to calm her nerves she found her friend already thru the silvery drops and under the cover of the hall doorway. Biting her lower lip, she wondered if she should hollar to her friend or just turn back. She felt bad about just leaving her freind without any words though. Standing there, she watched as her friend in the distance checked on her guitar. Her lips moved, but Amoare could not make out what they said...

"AMOARE Come on! I promise it will be fine!" Amneris shouted. She didn't want her friend to be scared. Perhaps something had happened in her childhood. "Do you want me to walk with you?!" Amneris once again bellowed. Anyone could hear Neris's voice over the wind and rain she had a very loud voice, as her mother said after she was born, she could scream like a banshee.

Tipp and Note stood watching Amneris. Her flit moved up to her shoulders, showing her iumages of fresh meat and hunger pangs shot through her stomach. "You need some food don't ya little fella."
