((OOC Note: The weyrlings in this class are close to 9 or 10 months old. They have had preflight training, but no first flights nor have they ever been between. They've done trarrain recognition and they have discussed the hows and whys of between but are they really ready to put therory into practice? Prolly not but they are going to get a crash course and fast.))
(Muneo Weyr, Turn 2506)
The ground’s violent shaking came as a shock, there had been small rumblings of the ground before but earthshakes in the South were common place… nothing like this though, this couldn‘t be just another rumbling.
N’vairim grabbed his desk trying to save hides from spilling off, white knuckled fingers squeezed hard to keep himself up right as well. His voice borderlined perturbed, not even the earth had an excuse for interrupting one of his lessons. He quickly scanned over his Weyrlings’ faces reading a melee of emotions there as they scrambled from their chairs or were dumped to the floor violently along with desks and other miscellaneous items. Keep them calm Hirgath, keep them calm. You have any idea what‘s going on?
“Take it easy, try to keep your lifemates calm.”
The grizzled brown woke from a dead sleep, yawning at his rider‘s mental shouts. I’ve been sleeping… what about keeping the Weyrlings’ calm? They are calm… errr… It took several moments for him to glean enough info from the chaos to discover that their were many in trouble, including themselves. In a worried tone the brown spoke to his rider even as he clamped down tightly on a terrified blue. The big mountain has blown up…

The room filled with the sound of shouts, screams and general disarray. They were more than scared they were panic driven fools. When the Weyrlingmaster's message came through, most of them began to regain their control over their dragons.
"Calm! Calm! How could anyone possibly be calm at a time like this!" Maia tried not to be as driven by her dragon's fear of what was going on as her own fear of the earth shakes. "We're going to die!"
"Oh shut up." C'mir said boredly. "Why do you always have to be so dramatic? Look if the Weyrlingmaster says to stay calm just do it. Don't get all spastic." Gamith, his blue was perfectly under control in that moment. Though most of the Weyrlings seemed to be very scared, none of them were panicking like that Maia girl and her dragon. The green was probably going to cause an accident with that state of mind.
"Leave her alone, will you... we have bigger problems." N'mer leader of his Weyrling class spoke boldly. "What has happened?" He asked the N'vairim mostly becuase it needed to be heard by all the Weyrlings.
Even Maia stopped her ranting when N'mer asked. The room grew very silent. Eyes intent on their teacher. Everyone wanted to know how serious this earthshake was.

Bait was spilled onto the floor when her desk seemed to buck as if it was on a wild sea. She gasped for breath just as Yumoth called out to her, everything's on fire, it'd be pretty if not for all the noise and smell of people being hurt.
Bait gasped in confusion and concern then shook her head in an attempt to clear it just as Yumoth said, You've been hurt! I'm coming now! Just at that moment she heard instructions to calm down and calm her dragon down so she shouted back, No don't come yet just stay on standby, we may be needed.
She then heard N'mer ask what happened and held her breath while waiting for a response. She hoped one would be forthcoming soon as she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to keep Yumoth from flying to the rescue.

Are you sure it is really that bad Hirgath? Could it not be one of the islands off shore smoking again, sure you haven‘t misunderstood?
I am very sure… you and the Weyrlings need out of there. Now! Buildings are crumbling all over the place, the ground has opened up. The brown had exited his warm wallow and was winging his way toward His and the Weyrling Barracks as he communicated to his lifemate. Pandemonium was breaking out every where.
“Weyrlings, I want you out of here… double time. Call your life mates and have them waiting outside the barracks just like drills. Grab your riding straps on the way out.” N’vairim knew that tone from his brown, he was far from being confused. As the class began moving a more violent shake hit, making the walls of the commons vibrate and some parts of the walls crack and crumble….

Bait began to panic as everyone rushed out of the room in what could only be called pandemonium. She asked her dragon, What exactly is happening? Are my mother and brother alright? Do you see them anywhere Yumoth?
Bait ran to her room to grab her riding strap making a mental note to always keep it on her from this day forward. As she raced down the halls toward the landing area she screamed and ran faster as a wall started to buckle. It fell just behind her hitting her feet and causing her to lose a boot. Yumoth, meet me at the barracks. We need to get out of here.she said with a breathlessness as she continued to run.
You've got it Bait. I haven't seen your mother or brother anywhere however there are people running all around. Dragons are flying about frantically, people are screaming. They could be anywhere in this mess.

Padith was now in an outright panic. Forget being calm, his lifemate was danger and they had to leave. Now. The young blue was trying to fit himself through the door of the barracks, to get to the classroom where his rider was and make him come out.
Mine! My S'par! You must leave! You must come to me! I'm frightened! The ground is moving and there is fire! I'm coming! The Weyrling Master has ordered us to get our flight straps before going outside. I'll only be a minute. Get out of the doorway so others can reach their partners.
The blue backed his head and neck out of the doorway like he had been told. Although he was slightly calmer now that he had his rider's reassurances that nothing would go wrong, his eyes were still a bright orange of alarm, madly swirling with streaks of red. He moved closer to his clutchmates, trying to find comfort in them while he waited for his rider to appear. The sounds of injured dragons and people were all around. He kept his eyes peeled on the doorway.
S'par felt a huge wave of relief come from his dragon as Padith spotted him exiting the barracks.
You are safe! You are here! What do we do now? Now I put the straps on you while we wait for instructions.
S'par gave Padith a fleeting scratch on his eyeridge to reassure both himself and his dragon that everything would be alright and then got to business as he waited for further instructions from the Weyrling Master. Would they really be flying? They had only ridden on their dragons once before and that had been a clumsy experience for all of the pairs.

Higrath bellowed as he felt the panic radiate from his Weyrling charges. You need to behave like this is practice! Remember Drills! The grizzled brown touched down outside the Weyrlingbarracks, pressing to control the young dragons gathering there on the Weyrlingmaster's orders and in search of their lifemates.
"Hurry it up riders!" N’vairim shouted, even as the earth continued to rock. He stood in the Hallway counting Weyrlings as they filed out of the unsound buildings...

N'mer took control of himself and his dragon with the ease expected of a Bronzerider, even a Weyrling. He didn't quite know what was going on but he understood the urgency. His dragon, Tovanth awaited him as instructed while he calmly fetched his riding straps. As he was leaving he caught C'mir's eye. He seemed to be a bit panicky now... trying to find something. "Best hurry... the place is going to collapse." Then the shrill cry of that greenriding Weyrling from earlier made him turn. She had the look of someone who had nothing left to live for. "Shards!" The green must have gone Between in panic.
N'mer, grabbed C'mir's wrist and led him out of the barracks by force. C'mir pulled free and walked to his dragon, Gamith, not wanting to be near the Bronzer any longer. He just couldn't stand people who were too honorable. He shook his head clear of any thoughts and went on to listen to what the Weyrlingmaster instructed.
"Just like a drill." N'mer whispered to himself and to Tovanth. The Bronze responded, Remember how to position the straps and you must have a clear mental image of where we will be going. The yong man nodded. He was fully capable or remembering it.
The blue and his rider were thinking of similar thoughts. C'mir was trying to focus on the task at hand but he couldn't help but feel loss. These feelings, he would lock them away and not think of them again. Feelings got people into trouble. They weren't needed or wanted. Then he could focus on this, like a drill and he could live. Survival was key.

N’vairim shut out the pain he felt through his connection with Hirgath. He knew that some of his weyrlings had already been lost, but he couldn't think of that now not now when he had to get the rest of them safely to Lateo. Feeling the rocking of the building N'vairim gave a shout for the remainder of the weyrlings to haul ass, this place was going to come down around their ears. The brown rider didn't have time to grab his own straps as he followed the last of his weyrlings out, he would grieve the girl he saw buried in the ruble of the east inner wall later. Hirgath had told him all that were coming out were out. "Don't just stand there, get those charring straps on your dragons." N'viriam made his way across the pitching ground to his own brown...

N'mer had the straps on in no time at all. He wasn't one to be lax on himself. Everything he did, he wanted to do well. After the straps were on, he took the initiative to mount his own dragon. They were better off if they could get going sooner. He strapped himself in accordingly awaiting the Weyrlingmaster's order to Between. Tovanth was so certain that they were fine and would Between well, that N'mer almost doubted his own ability more.
The blue Weyrling, Gamith was being strapped with great impatience. He hated straps but he was better off listening to authority in this case. C'mir wanted the dragon to do well Betweening. More importantly he wanted him to survive. He didn't much care for the thought of a premature death. A tremor rattled the ground once more. They were well rid of this pile of rubble.
