Laurian fingered the leather thongs aroudn his neck and could feel his palm growing sweaty as it clenched the handled to his leather case that held the two scrolls. He had only just gotten i nwith the gather train a few candlemarks ago, but this was a delviery of some importance. He didn't want to get sidetracked.
He hoped that both Lord Galaden and Master Yeltin were there. He worried that one of Conaire's messengers might have mixed up the times, but now he was just worrying.
He raised a hand and knocked twice on the door. "Lord Galdden, it is Conaire's messenger here for you." He waited patiently to delvier his precious parcels.

The head woman of Galeden's hold answered the door. She was an average looking woman with no real disinguishing features. One of those people you could easily forget upon seeing. "My Lord is at the stables but he should return any moment." The woman smiled in welcome.
"Please come in and make yourself comfortable." The woman said this time, bustling off to do some task or other. It was not long before the Lord Holder entered. Followed by a few men who arranged themselves around the room. The men quickly hid themselves in the shadows and were not seen again.
Lord Galeden had a kind face and no temper to speak of, seeing that the messenger was nervous he smiled. "Your the messenger that had my Headwoman was excited to tell me of. She thinks its important an I'm inclined to agree with her." He didn't laugh but waited. His wife would no doubt here that there was a messenger here for him and try to find a way into the conversation.
It was not Eslana who came into the Hall next, as Galeden had preicted but his two turn old daughter. "On steady legs the golden haired, Galeda half ran to her father. She seemed to be hiding from her nurses. "Excuse me for a moment." He waited for his daughter to reach him.
"Daddy!" She reached up till he picked her up and then turned his attention back to the Harper. " Let us proceed to my study. Its much more comfortable in there. Plenty of seats and the fire is toasty. Much better than the bitter winds you'll find outside."

Laurian nodded to the headwoman and waited patiently. He sat in one of the chairs as the headwoman had suggested and slowly removed the leather thongs fro maroudn his neck, placing them hide side up next to him, and opened the hide case and removed the two scrolls as well. He hoped that it would be too long-and there he was. "Greetings, Lord Galeden." He said and followed the Lord Holder into the study, carrying his bundles gently, as Galeden carried his daughter. She loked a bit younger than his daughter, but not my much. He was quickly deciding that the move to Keroon had been a good thing.
Once he was settled in a chair, he slowly removed the leather thongs fro maroudn his neck, placing them hide side up next to him, and opened the hide case and removed the two scrolls as well. He did not speak for several seconds and then ask, "Have you perhaps seen Master Yeltin about, m'lord? My delivery is for him as well." He motioned the packages by him. He didn't want to get started until Yeltin was here but didn't want to keep the lord waiting either. Well, they could certainly wait a few more minutes.

((Hrsegrl, I hope you don't mind me naming the master harper stationed at Keroon. I needed something to reference to. After this thread, any of the three of us can npc him for sake of simplicity, or if you'd rather I keep npcing him for you guys, I'll be more than willing to do that too. *grins*))
The silver-haired harper had seen his own fair share of turns both at the harper hall as well as here at Keroon where he had been stationed for the past thirty turns. He loved Keroon and the children here he had watched grow so the time seemed so very short in his aged eyes. It had been a surprise, however, when he had received a call from a drudge saying something about a messenger from the MasterHarper. Perhaps the journeyman he had requested had come. Going on his ninth decade had him in need of help after all.
Nodding the drudge away, he made his way to where messengers are usually taken. Finding the room empty, Yeltin frowned before turning to a room down the hall. Maybe the Lord had moved them to the study? Knocking on the closed door as custom called for, he awaited the answer. He would not simply walk in, especially if business called for him afterwards rather than during.

"He will be here shortly I assure you, Journeyman Laurian. Please do make yourself comfortable. I expect he is just as excited for a message as you are to give it." He smiled. His daughter still wrapped around him, her head on his shoulder, She was only two after all. Upon hearing the knock at the door, one of the Nirave moved from his place to open it. The hidden men of his guard always ready to be first to protect him.
"Master Yeltin, do come in and have a seat. May I introduce Journeyman Laurian." He added with usual courtliness. HE often sounded less like a Lord than he ought to but he couldn't help but feel like a normal person most of the time. Master Yeltin had come here when Galeden was a young boy. He had always liked the Harper, but Galeden found harpers quite enjoyable to spend time with as a whole.
"Now what news do you have for us?" He asked not really wanting to rush teh man but he did have pressing bussiness to get to soon. Dorin was not making things easy on him lately. Looking down at his daughter, he wondered yet again if he should name his nephew as heir apparent or Galeda. Time would tell as it always did. HE got back on track to what they were discussing presently. He observed the two harpers with a kind eye much as one would look over an old friend that one had not seen in many turns.

Laurian realized he was being a little uptight and sat down farther into the chair. He lept up again when master Yeltin entered the room. Once he was introuced Laurian stuck out his hand, "A pleasure sir, Master Yeltin." He sat back down again once Yeltin was settled. He motioned to the packagesbeside him, "Not so much news as a delivery." He picked up a couple of the bags carefully. "Quite a gift in fact. There are letters as well, one for each of you From the Master Harper. The contents are you message." First for Lord Galeden he hand the man the scroll with the red wax and the two larger bags. and then to Lord Yeltin held out the msaller bag and the scroll with the cream wax, just as Shari had said. He smiled now, his duty really done, "Now go ahead, take a look." He hadn't actually taken a look at the eggs on the journey, not wanting anythign to happen to them, but now he was eager to take at least a small glance at the precious eggs-and the Master and Lord's expression when they saw as well. "Just be careful wit hthem." He added on wnring. ((Sorry i gave it all out in one post but i can't go on at school tomorrow and afer that i have no mroe school and i'm moving tuesday and will be on a plane for 16 hourse till wednesday...and then hopefully i'll be ony by this time next thursday. Anyways, have fun with the flittie eggs )

He watched Laurian take out the two seperate packages. It seemed the delivery was quite important. He didn't want too many people to know about it then. At the urgings of the journeyman, Galeden opened the bag. By Faranth! Eggs? What was going on here? How had they gotten to the Northern continent.
A million thoughts were swimming through his head, but it was his young daughter who caught his attention next she was smiling and looking into the bag most interested. "Flits." Was all she said and rightly so. There was nothing more the Holder could say though he felt that he was missing something. A piece of information that perhaps the harpers knew.
"What does this mean?" He looked at Yeltin expectantly then back down at the eggs. He had momentarily forgotten the scrolls. He looked down and began to read it hastily.

Yeltin walked into the room and nodded to the Journeyman as he reached out a slightly narled hand to take the man?s in greeting. After shaking Laurian's hand, he took the offered seat and folded his hands neatly as he listened attntively. Finding the smaall bag handed to him along with a scroll, the older man set the bag in his lap as he opened the scroll first, quite opposite as the Lord Holder had.
Master Yeltin,
I hope all is well with you at Keroon. Should you have need of anything, please send to me any request and I will hastily respond. I have sent Journeyman Laurian to help as you just as you had asked and I hope my next gift will be of great use as well.
My brother, Master Hinb at Ista has found a firelizard nest at the beaches there much to everyones surprise. Twenty-two eggs were all that were present and he has sent them all to the Harper Hall in remembrance of the scrolls that spoke of them as a means of messaging. It is my hope to get several masters as well as a few Lords with these eggs and maybe manage to use a few of them to our benefit.
Please see what you can do with the egg. Keep it warm, in a sand-filled pot preferably and make sure to have meat ready for when it hatches. It should be within the next day or so of arrival. If you were to help Lord Galeden with his as well, I would greatly appreciate it.
MasterHarper Conaire
As he read, Yeltin's eyes grew wide as his old hands took hold of the bag before glancing up at the Lord's spoken question. A soft laugh escaped his mouth as he pointed to the scroll the man was already opening.
"It might help, good Lord, if you read. It seems the Master Harper thinks highly enough of you to share a treasure I had thought long gone from this continent."
The other scroll reads thus:
Lord Galeden,
It is with much respect that I have sent this gift to you. Many items account in the choices of Lords that I have chosen to give these to, and I am pleased to say you were one of them. They are firelizard eggs and I must ask that you follow my directions very carefully if we are to succeed in what was once called 'impressing' them.
By the time they arrive to you, they should be only a day or two from hatching. It is very important that you keep them warm and rotate them in a pot full of heated sand during this time. This will help the eggs to harden properly. Also, make sure to stay near to them. I know that you are a busy man, but it is vital that you 'impress' at least one of these, that is why I have sent two. Meat will be needed as an offering to them. They will be very hungry. If what I have read in the texts are correct, you will recive the feelings of the flit at ?impression? most noticbly the hunger pains. If you have any questions please speak to Master Yeltin, he should know what I speak of.
I know it is a lot of me to ask you in sending these to you with such instructions, but please, do me this one favor. I surely hope that everything will work out. I know there are many who can only dream of what I offer you now and I hope beyond hope you can accept this gift.
Master Harper Conaire

Galeden read the note once, then again to be sure he was reading it correctly. He looked over to Yeltin once more. He was still in a bit of shock really. "So we, we were chosen to have these firelizards to be messengers...." He thought outloud a moment. "Can you tell which eggs will hold which color? Not that thats important so much as knowing which colors would make better messengers." He was thinking like a beast crafter again. If a certain color were better than they would want to make sure that color got to the right people. As far as he could tell his two eggs were normal. He didn't even know what a flit egg was supposed to look like.
Realizing the Harpers may not know the answers either he wondered how his own daughter knew what they were. She must have been thinking of stories. Galeda wasn't listening to anyone at the moment she was too busy watching the eggs. They were now the most intriguing thing in her life. Perhaps when she was older she could have one.
Galeden was thinking about the messege again. Nothing was coincidental. There was a reason the eggs had been found and a reason he had been given eggs. He would impress both the firelizards to make certain he had the messengers. Not only that but he could wager the Harpers were not happy with Dorin's take over. This would be helpful when it came time for Pern to take arms against the Lord of many Holds.

That is my duty done and if ou don't mind i'd like to gt my family settled in to there aprtements." He stood, holding his hand out to the Lord Holder and Master in turn. 'I do hope to see both of you quite soon. And Master Yeltin, you and i can discuss the classes and teaching for the children and such. Thankyou, gooday." He stood to let himself out.

((YAY... I'll start the thread for that. Its funny how the last time a character of mine impressed a flit it was because your character was impressing one.))
