There was a double meaning in that and he was stuck on the line for a moment.. it was true his dragon would always come first but that was the life of a dragonrider..."Does it trouble you that to any dragonrider the first thing they think about in the morning is their dragon and not their loves?" He wondered if it was part of the reason why Weyr relationships were not ones to last long. "When you impress a dragon you have no choice, they suddenly consume all your feelings and become like ones other self. If you choose to stand that is what your risking. Which reminds me... have you been thinking of standing at Caliath's next clutch?"
Z'rion couldn't help but ask. Viderieth wanted her to stand and no one could deny dragon instincts. "Viderieth has been passing me some hints, though perhaps he could talk to you directly?" He wondered if it would bother her. "He doesn't talk to many people besides me..." Viderieth heard his rider's question and almost paled...why should he, he was nervous. He didn't want to give the girl false hope either, he was too young to really be sure that he was right about people and who was impressionable. He did think she deserved a dragon though.
"He is being shy. Ah well. I have another question for you. Are you doing anything tomorrow night?"

Kami shook her head slowly at Z'rion's question. "I don't know," she shrugged in a very un-Kamiish gesture, "I've never felt anything like it before. But I suppose a dragon would be truer than any human could be." From what she had been said Impressing to a dragon was falling instantly and totally in love. How could she deny that, her training had lent her to sing many a love song. Even if she had no time for the nonsense herself.
A queasy feeling rose up in her stomach at the mention of a Hatching. True she'd love to see one, but standing as a Canidate... Kami had heard tales of what happened when a careless youngster got in the way of a bumbling hatching. People had died... The Harper shook her head, dark eyes darting to the ground. Why was she being so honest with him anyway, sharding dragonrider. "On that note again I don't have much of an answer for you." Being a candidate for Impression, the thought chilled and set fire to her veins all at once. Something inside her warred in a way the young woman had never felt before. If she Impressed she couldn't continue as a Harper... but Impressing a dragon. Who couldn't be seduced by the idea of unconditional love for the rest of your life. Kami looked up and studied Z'rion's face a moment and pondered. He would never be alone, no matter what happened he had Viderieth. No wonder so many longed to become a dragonrider. After a long pause she had gathered her thoughts together enough to speak again. What a wherry brained idiot she was sometimes, letting something like that distract her. "I would not dishonor Viderieth in his choice, but..." She laughed tightly, "I hardly think I am cut out to be a rider. A brilliant Harper yes... but a dragonrider..." Her eyes dropped again and she unknowingly left the sentence off. Kami tried her best to stifle the warring feelings inside her and something told her that if she touched a dragon, spoke to one, she too would be lost in that hope of hopes. And hope as she well knew, wasn't good for much.
The bronzerider's last comment brought her back and she took a slow breath to steady herself. What was wrong with her, this was silly, acting like a small girl who didn't know any better. "Tomorrow night, I don't have anything particular planned." Kaminari grinned then, forcing her mind to still. "I haven't been given any duties yet so I am as free as a tunnelsnake in the larder."

He smiled a bit boyishly. "Falling in love can be a similair feeling." He left that thought where it lay and moved on so as not to pry too much into that area of her life. Z'rion for once seemed more than serious. He looked at her knowing that it seemed something was holding her back. Did she not have confidance that a dragon might in fact find her as wonderful as he did? "You, lady , have a great spirirt and will do well in whatever you choose to pursue even if it isn't with dragons." He would like her to stay at the Weyr forever....that was probably why he wanted her to be adragonrider then she would never leave...
"Would you care to accompany me again tomorrow... I am going to Lateo for the Hatching Feast. Have you ever been to Lateo?" He hoped he wouldn't ahve to find another date... he didn't really ahve as much fun with the silly drudges that pursued him. Other people from his class were too much like sisters and brothers to ever be dates and the older riders were just out of teh question right now. He was too new at the whole adult thing.
"Of course that means you'd have to ride atop a bronze dragon to get there..." He knew she had not flown before and hoped she would think of it as a good thing. some people were afraid to fly. Z'rion trusted hisown dragon but understood why others might not trust a strange dragon to carry them anywhere.

Fire and ice began to war again, flooding her veins with something she had no idea of how to handle. Kaminari closed her eyes a moment, trying to calm herself. Really now this was all foolishness, but at Z'rion's words her heart lept up her throat and now that hope wouldn't stay down. To be a dragonrider... Surely that would be even better than being a Harper. A slight flush rose to her cheeks at his compliment. But then it really was on natural he would see how fantastic she was, most did, although most didn't understand. "Flattery will get you everywhere dear dragonrider." She took a deep breath and decided that maybe if she voiced that hope that all Pernese held somewhere in thier hearts that it might go away. "I think I'd need some time to think on whether or not I wanted to stand at a Hatching. Having a dragon of my own.." She shook her head smiling, surely he understood. If anyone did it would be Z'rion.
The thought of being close to a dragon let alone flying created a cold spot in the pit of her stomach. But she was a big girl now, fears she could handle. "I'd love to go. I've been a-dragonback beforeut if it means I get to meet your lovely Viderieth then I am all for it." Kami laughed on the inside not only was she just told she could possibly Impress a dragon of her own, but that her first flight ever would be on the back of a Bronze, a place normaly reserved for Masters and Lords. She thought she could surely get used to this kind of thing.

"That sounds like an invitation lady harper." He was in a playful mood anyway. Besides she was exactly what he said she was... it was the truth not flattery. He could tell her more if she wanted him to, that wouldn't bother him at all. His own head had trouble thinking about how easy he had said sure I'll try to be a dragonrider. Before that moment he had never thought about it at all.
"I never really dreamed of riding a dragon as a kid... no more than the average child. What I wanted to be was a Pirate." He grinned most roguisshly. "of course there are all kinds of treasures to find at the Weyr so I get to be a pirate dragonrider." Viderieth wanted to laugh too at this thought.
Z'rion was happy she had decided to cme with him again tomorrow. He hoped she didn't mind as long as it wasn't too much too quickly... "Well Videreith likes transporting beautiful young women more than ugly old craftmasters and arrogant Lords." that was as true as anything. Videreith hated nobles ... and why should he, a young good looking bronze have to carry ugly people with bad attitudes?

She couldn't help but double over in laughter at the thought of Z'rion as a pirate. Surely with his hair so long he could pull it off dashingly. Still she couldn't quite picture him being the terror of the sea holds. "A ballad about the wicked rouge Z'rion and his fearsome beast, oh I can just see it now." The Harper was all a fit of giggles for a couple moments and at his comment about ugly old Lords and Craftmasters she only laughed harder.
"Now now dragonrider," She poked him lightly in the side, "I might be one of those ugly old craftmasters in ten years or so." Kaminari grinned, well she would be able to do it if she stayed at a Hall. But right now she was pretty sure she was more or less going to be permanently a journeyman. Kami was a little too much for her stuffy old masters to handle and she doubted they would handle her taking the Master's test any better. However the longer she stayed at the Weyr the more she never wanted to go anywhere else. Especially if it meant she got to see Z'rion more often. She didn't realize quite what she'd been thinking till a moment later and laughed again. Shards and shells but he was having an effect on her. Kami decided she'd have to watch herself more closely and go and meet some more riders.

"It might seem funny to you now, but I sail a ship better than most due to my strength and size. Also I ahve been known to hide very nice thingzs from people... like my Benden white. I'm very much someone who looks for treasure without thinking about it. " He smiled, "Now your turn what did you want to be as a child?" Z'rion wanted to know so many things but this was a good question to find out more about the real her.
Maybe it was childish of him to feel so close to someoen he had just met. He didn't want to do anything to mess it up. So for now he decided it would be better to act like friends and not rush into anything. Slow was good... it would take patience adn it would also prove that he was serious about her...as a nineteen turn old he seemed a bit young to know anything about true feelings. He wasn't after her for the things he had been for other girls.

The Harper grined as she listened he certainly did have the build for it. She was rather hard pressed not to admire it then and there. At his question about her childhood she simply shrugged. "I've always been what I am, a Harper. My father raised my brother and I as such." Some of the memories were quite wonderful but all to often the image of her mother laying, stick figure like, on her parents bed always intruded. "We lived outside Caelum untill I went for training at the Weyrhold."
Everything summed up in two sentances, her whole life. Somehow it just didn't seem right, she missed her mother, she missed her brother. The Harper slowly took a deep breath, it wasn't like missing the was going to bring them back. Forcing back memories, Kami once more grinned up at Z'rion. "I've always been a little too much for any one person to handle." Her dark eyes sparkled with mischief almost daring him to contredict the statement. Oh a toss dance would be so perfect, she was just so tense right about now. That time she didn't even bother to question herself on that thought. What in the world was going on with her today to be worried about what a man thought. Kami could have sworn she'd gotten into the wine already.

"My father kicked me off his boat plenty of times. No one can handle me either. I gave the Weyrlingmaster such trouble..." He knew that would be no suprise to her. She was probably quite the troublemaker. "I can quite easily see how you would be hard to handle..." He trailed off a moment. Perhaps he shoudl say something about not trying to handle her too much. She was her own person, a person he liked. So why should he have any say on how she lives her life. "I would never presume to try to handle you, not if you don't want me to." He said sincerely enough."Though technically I'm like two people...I should wear a sign, dragon included." He grinned moving on to the next subject..."I wonder how quickly they will play a fast song."

At his turn of phrase, Kami found herself laughing heartily again. She wiped the tears from her eyes a moment before she responded. "Well you could certianly try, but no saying I didn't warn you." Well that was all but giving him open ivitation to any number of ideas. Ideas she frankly rather liked, not that she'd really ever admit that. She looked around and noticed once again not a thing looked familiar, lucky for her Z'rion was leading. The Harper tried to take note of which way they went and what they passed but ash and dust that bronzerider was distracting. And really now, her being distracted by a man, such folly.
"But I bet you're as much as a handfull as I am." Oh well that was a little too blantant, said that chiding voice in her head. Kami only laughed more. "That dragon of yours probably doesn't help matters too." And at his comment about the song she mused. "It will probably be the fifth or sixth in, slower ones for the first arivals. Normaly the faster ones are saved for when the whole of the crowd has gotten there."

Brilliant... she was brilliant. Even he would ahve trouble outthinking her. Z'rion would normally have been quick to take her up on her invitation but he really thought slower was better in this instance. "Watch out, I may take you up on that. I love a challenge...and you are presenting me with a new one." He laughed at her statement.
"If you ask most would say I'm more than a handful. Besides I ahve plenty of charm to make up for it." He led them around another corner adn thought a moment...he might have gotten them lost? Well he coud find his way back to his Weyr from here if he was where he thought he was. Pretending he wasn't lost he pressed forward... sure hed been at the Weyr for two turns but he had only been a candidate for about 4 sevendays... and then boom... impressed and no time to explore.

"I'm sure you do, seems charm runs in great quatities with you bronzeriders. No doubt its what led to that notorious reputation of yours." Once again Kaminari found herself grinning like a girl at a gather booth. She noticed Z'rion's eyes wandering about and cocked an eyebrow. Surely he knew where he was going, or did these blasted corridors confound him too. No matter really, she didn't mind the walk or the company.
"A challenge it is then," She said with another bright grin. "Though I doubt you can keep up." Kami stuck her tongue out at him, feeling foolishly like a little girl. But who couldn't cut loose now and then.

Z'rion looke about him once more deciding on a path... at least he didn't hesitate. "So you have heard of me?" He grinned, thinking that it was wonderful to have so many people know who he was. "Someday perhaps you can match me in renown." His ever cocky smirk was on as he listened to her challenge.
"You doubt my ability to keep up with you? Set the pace Kaminari and I will prove that I am more capable than previously expected." His eyes were now upon her. She did know how to provoke his emotions....ugh and here he was trying to take it slow. What he really wanted at this point was to skip the feast and invite her to his weyr or maybe not even wait that long...she was tempting him more and more and he had to make the choice over again that it was worth waiting.
KNowing he had looked at her a moment too long his eyes fell back on the corridor path. He hoped she was feeling as strongly as he was. He didn't want to be alone in this. Of course it was impossible for him to tell what she was thinking but he knew himself and he had never felt so strongly so quickly for anyone but his dragon.

Well match him in renown she was sure she would never do, at least while it was her job not to do so. Besides there were so many things one could do when others failed to take notice. Even these riders did it, much as she liked them better than holders, the things all those drudges must hear. Kami quickly decided that would be a good avenue to explore. When he responded to her challenge she laughed brightly again. Never had anyone made her laugh so honestly or so much. Normally she was forced to titter at the poor jokes Lords mad;. ugg they had such a bad sense of humor.
"My dear you would be the first then." She glanced up grinning and caught his eyes on hers. Kami's smile softened and then the Harper looked away refusing to acknowledge the pounding of her heart. What in the name of Faranth was wrong with her? Dallying and flirting was one thing, even a few nights... Kami gulped, this was something new, something she had no idea about. She closed her eyes tight and wondered at it, knowing what it was but not wanting to. This could seriously complicate matters.
When she got up the courage to look back up at him he had turned his face away again. Such a kind face, but she was sure it would lend itself to any number of expressions. The Harper let out a very quiet sigh and let her head rest against his shoulder as they walked. What in the world was wrong with her?

"Then it wil take some proving I see." He smiled a bit, pondering at what that would mean. She had a smilair past in her love life then that he had. His mind was goign a million places at once. He felt oddly aware of everything she did. By the first egg he was crazy, of course if he was unwell Videreith would know. That should ahve been reassuring but it was simply more irritating. Other Bronze riders didn't get serious with women for quite a few turns after becoming riders... he was definately going to be changing things by going along with his feelings.
Her head was suddenly, wonderfully, on his shoulder. He tilted his head slightly so that one eye could examine the top of her head. Her hair was beautiful. She must have spent time getting it clean and brushed so well. Z'rion placed his arm around her, not possessively but more in comfort. They would be seen like a couple if anyone were to walk by, Too bad he had managed to find the lonliest corner of the Weyr rather than the place they needed to go.
" I must confess I have gotten us lost." his voice slightly dissapointed that he had not known the way. "I thinkits this way....if you will bear with me...I might actually get us somewhere that looks familiar before the night is through." His smile was a bit sad, he knew he should be able to find his way but he really had not spent as much time inside as out...other than the main hallways he was used to he didn't have any need to coem down this way.
After a few more moments of walking he realized he had made it to the Ardeo weyrs. "HAHA! I have founf my weyr... we will be able tofind the Weyrhall from here..." He grinned like a boy who had caught the biggest fish in the sea all by himself.
