When Zylaera Impressed Kistana felt a sting- a sting of jealous envy mixed with happiness. Yes, Kistana was happy for Zylaera, but oh so jealous that the girl had someone who loved, who really loved her so much. Kistana knew the feeling fleetingly. She had been touched by it. Love had softly carassed her, but to quickly was she seperated from it's source. She had no proof, she couldn't recall how she felt. It was simply love.
And then something hit her: if she Impressed, her Dragon would love her so, so much that it would be like being with Mikel all over again. Except million's of times better, because she wouldn't have to be seperated from her Dragon. She could talk...she could nurture. She could support, teach, empower, discipline. When she realized that, she came to a quick conclusion; Dragon's were like babes and lovers combined. While she was thinking this, she could've died and she wouldn't have noticed. It took five minutes for her to stop thinking so intently.

Breaking free of the tough membrane, the dark Hatchling was soon on his feet and searching the crowd, an ocean of faces for his match. He probed those that stood near with a dark mind, showing a need that could make the heart hurt.
Hatching from smaller eggs, two greens soon followed; a bit stunned it took a moment for the pair to gain their bearings.

Kistana grinned quite suddenly. TWO greens. Two chances. Time seemed to slow as Kistana blinked once, brushing a lock of damp hair out of her face. Her feet were so hot.... But the chance, the chance times two in her mind, held her stock-still, willing with all her might that one of them might come. So what if she didn't Impress a Gold? If she Impressed any dragon she would be happy, she just knew it. And then she wouldn't have to be half so jealous of Zylaera, even though she wouldn't show it.
"Come on," She muttered to herself, locking eyes with the closer of the two greens, not moving a bit. She would have sworn that it was only her and the Dragonets for a instant, then a few mumbles from other candidates she had never met brought her to the grim truth; her chances may be better with two dragonets, but other female candidates hoped the same.

Hanen saw the dragonets clearly searching gaze, he looked a bit bewildered. Not knowing what else to do he felt he was being stupid just standing there, but he really did not want to get mauled. The hatchling did not see angry liek the other and therefore, he made a forward decision to approach the dark hatchling. Who knows maybe he could at least help it figure out that it wanted someone else.
As he approached the hatchling he noticed the two greens. He wasn't sure about the other candidates, but as a Weyrbrat he would do what he set out to do. So he finished his approach but hung back with enough space between himself and the Hatchling that it could easily pass him by if the dragonet wanted to. Meanwhile he left his mind open and welcoming to the new dragonets. He was certain that they would respond better to a mental welcoming rather than a physical one. He let his dark eyes rest on the dark dragonet, for he was not much interested in greens, though they were beautiful. Do not be afraid little ones. No one will harm you. There is plenty of time to find yours.

Shereae smiled at the two greens, they were so vivacious and...cute. Shaking her head and surprised at herself, she wondered how she'd contrived cute out of the little drippy wings and sharp claws. The hatchlings looked dangerous, with their red and yellow swirling eyes, sharp claws, and infantile patience. Shereae watched the dark dragonet, she saw it examine the candidates. Smiling at it, she mentally encouraged it to Impress. You can do it, little dragon. she thought to him. ~~~ Milaka watched as the dark dragon looked over his prospective choices, getting more and more nervous with how long it was taking him to decide. Wouldn't just be magnificent if Milaka Impressed his first time around? Oh, little dragon, come to me, we can be life long friends. I'll love you! he thought to the dragon ferociously, not knowing that Shereae was having similar thoughts.

Orfinion snuck up quietly behind Verity and wrapped an arm about her waist. To more greens meant to mroe chances for her tow Impress. He focused on the dark hatchling. Hello little one, i am here if i am to be yours. Do not worry little one, there is someone here for you. I am her, i am here." He repeated over and over in his mind. Her glanced over at the two greens. Breaking away from their shells. He smield at ther girl besides him and thought warmly, om a whim, to the greens. And Verity is here too. Verity wants you, Verity will welceom you. Come little ones. His eyes show nbright as he gazed upon the three glistening, clumsy bodies pitching themselves about awkwardly in the pursuit for Theirs.
'Come one little ones,' He thought to himself, 'You can do it, come on.'

The hatching of three more eggs brought Verity’s attention there way. Noting the dark dragon, her mind fleeted back to Orfinion for but a moment to wish him all the luck Pern had to offer. The greens stole her mind away from him though as she watched them fight for their balance. Once having found it, the two moist heads seemed to look around as if looking for someone.
Chest constricting, Verity’s adrenaline rose higher and she found herself amazed at the simple beauty found in the unstable hatchlings. Two more… They were two more greens; and what beautiful greens they were! Oh please dear queen, by the first shell… don’t let me walk from these sands without the love only your children can give.

Ever felt hope wash through her like the warm waters of the ocean as the small green looked up towards her, but then the little one moved on and the girl felt like her heart had been ripped out. For a moment, a short, fleeting second, she thought she would finally Impress, but then her dreams were dashed. The young blonde was unable to keep a few tears from falling onto her cheeks, but she finally got a hold on her emotions. The hatching was not over yet….she still had a chance. Her eyes rested on the eggs, her hands clasped before her breasts as two more smaller eggs hatched. Two more greens! Ever held her breath, watching anxiously as the young pair gained their bearings and began to wobble unsteadily forward. Here….yes! Perhaps… ‘Oh Faranth….hear me, oh please, let one of them be mine…’ She thought nervously, willing one of them to look her way.
Rois was baffled by the carnage the new bronze had left in his wake, but the dark-haired boy knew they had no time to dwell on what had occurred. More eggs had yet to hatch. His cobalt eyes strayed hopefully to the new, dark dragonet just born, unable, again, to discern it’s color. The nearly-black hatchling strode forward, near him, and suddenly the boy felt the impact of it’s probing mind. It hurt! The small dragonet’s mind was fierce and dark, and his need was great and knew no bounds. The boy raised a hand to his temple, pushing back chocolate-colored locks as he rubbed at the throbbing vein. The little hatchling had given him a headache! The boy considered trying to reply to that jumbled, hungry mind, but then decided against it. He hardly wanted to end up like those other foolish boys.

Monara's feet were way to hot for her own comfort. Here little dragnest...I'll be a good life-mate....I think. She had watched the two greens hatch, and willed them foward with all her might. And yet Monara couldn't get her legs to move closer to them. For fear of becoming like the Candidates lying on the ground. Their blood soaked the warm sands, beautiful and yet a deadly reality. She headed the red sands warning, but would the others do the same?
Monara certinly hoped so, she stood rooted. Trying to send messages, in her head, to the greens of love...of anything but fear. But she kept messing up and letting fear color her messages. I'm not supposed to show fear She thought. Quietly she hoped, so that the greens wouldn't hear her. Monara didn't want her frightened thoughts to start to scare the newly hatched greens..or the other one thats color was still a mystery. But it was so hard for her to think happy thoughts when danger laid just a few feet from her.

Rylene smiled at the two new greens, she ignored the unknown colored hatchling. It was most likely male and probably would Impress to herself. She would watch it though, it wouldn't do for her to get killed because she didn't pay attention to him..it. Right? "Oh there lost." Rylene spoke out loud without thinking. Well she thought, they looked lost maybe a little stunned at their new surroundings. Here look at me...I'll keep you safe. I'll be the best...well maybe not the best but i'll DO the best I can at being a life-mate....
Rylene hoped one of the two greens would listen to her thoughts. She guessed that most of the girls, and probably a lot of guys, were trying to mind talk to the 2....3 new hatchings. Rylene glanced at all those Candidates around her. There was so many of them. Did she even have a chance?

Chani slowly recovered from the shock. She seemed to see the two greens as if in a daze. The one nearest her was the smaller of the two, but not by much. It was searching in her direction. Chani looked around to see if there was another candidate near her. Was she going to impress her? she wondered. She focused her attention on her and urged her to come.

The drive of hunger and the need to find his life mate making him almost frantic in his efforts the hatchling continued to scan those standing near but to no avail. He could not find his chosen...he looked into the sea of faces in the stands and echoed a cry...still no answer... All he felt was a mixture of fear and excite moment.
The candidates, after seeing the bloody mess that his brother had made, got out of his way as he stalked the sands on less than graceful legs...

Hanen could not understand what was upsetting the little dragonet . He took a moment to see what direction the poor thing was going but realized it seemed a bt more lost than anything. It was definately trying hard to find his life mate. What would happen if he could not find the person soon? Hanen didn't liek tot hink of losing such a wonderful dragon because no one there was worthy of him. The only thing Hanen could really do was be himself and that might never be enough.
All the candidates seemed a bit fearful of the dragonet after what had happened before, but this one wasn't angry. He was bewildered and lost. What could be worse than not being able to find the one you were meant for? It must be pure agony....to answer his thought the dragonet cried. Perhaps the little one just needed someone to approach him. Hanen didn't want to be pushy...but he did want to be pushy. He came closer to the dragonet, willing it to look at him. All the while he was thinking, please let teh dragonet live..

Verity found her eyes caught once again by the darker hatchling. His echoed cry sending a shiver down her back. She could feel the fear of the candidates running threw her own veins even as the excitement from the crowded stands washed over her. How could her feelings be such a mess? Would being a dragon rider always be this confusing?
The damp, dark body caught her eye again and she gave it her attention. Its echoed cry tore at her heart and only strengthened the fear inside her. Was the hatchling angry? Was that a cry of pain? What should she do?
Completely unsure and at a loss for words, she let her eyes wash over the rest of the clutch. The two greens were still wandering around and the rest of the eggs were shaking violently. It would not be much longer until they all were hatched and led off the sands. Would she be one of the ones lead of with a hatchling at her side? Or would she be lead off alone?

Orfinion's nose crinkled and his brow furrowed as he heard the dark hatchlings pitious cry. Would he not find His? What if His chosen was not their. Could he possibly go Impressionless? That would be horrbille. The Weyr needed as many Bronzes or Browns as it could get. Orfinion now expected the hatchling was not meant for him as he had been calling to it warmly and it had not asnwered, but nothing was ever sure and he could still hope.
His eyes wandred momentarily to the two greens, but the rest of his body staying still. He hoped they would find theirs soon. He hated the confused feelings that now sept over the sands and the wails and cries of the hatchlings. He wanted to run up to them and comfort them all, but he wouldn't it. It was folly. Thye needeed to find their chosens and they needed to do its soon as their cries of loneliness and hunger were almost unbearable.

Rylene bet she did have a chance, though it was a slim one. She didn't have anyone in her family...or so she knew of, that hda Impressed before. She knew nothing, barely anything of her father. She did know thought that he was not a Dragonrider. Thats as much that her mother had ever told her. Seeing the unknowndragonet streart to wonder aroud Rylene prepared herself to move out of the way if it made a sudden dash at the Candidate crowd. Why couldn't the greens be more interested in finding there life-mates. Rylene's thougths swirled about as she stood on her tippy-toes. Trying to releave her hot feet....

Now Monara was getting tied of all of the drama. Yeah people die. Its's life, but when they go and get them selves killed because of there stupidity then Monara gets annoyed...or more likely uneasy. Seeing the dragonet start to wadle about Monara took a few more steps ...backa nd sideways. She ended up closer to the greens and the other rocking eggs. She was getting tired, of herself being in constant fear. She would'nt bolt if the greens came at her. Monara would just move aside if they weren't for her.
