Watching his hands clench and unclench, she frowned as the hand bleed once again, slowly darkening the bandages. That couldn’t possibly be good for healing. His defiant words came to her ears, and she smiled weakly. She had hoped for such an answer and the smile that accompanied it offered some ease to her worry.
As he straightened, his words created mixed feelings in Apri. She didn’t want to see him go for reasons she herself was finding hard to understand but the fact that he did not wish to leave her either… it sent a wave of butterflies to her stomach. She didn’t know what to think of such a statement and so remained silent, trying to watch his unseeing eyes as she slowly straightened.
His head turned away and Apri found herself wondering if the words she thought he said were in fact spoken or a figment of her imagination. Had he really said that? No… if he had been talking to her he’d have faced her… wouldn’t he have? Maybe he did say something and she miss understood… yes that must be it… she must not have heard him correctly…
“What? What was that Killian? I thought… I thought I heard you say… something…” her voice was soft as she tried to be soothing… even coaxing as she wondered at what it would mean if the words she had heard were in fact real… how would she answer such a statement? To leave the hall… Would she even be allowed to… did she even want to…

Killian was lost in his own thoughts, thoughts of the future a future for him away from the hall and away from her, and a future for her away from him and alone with those men still wandering the halls possibly looking for revenge, it made him shudder. But as she spook he realized what he had said out loud. No he couldn’t ask her to do such a thing, if this place was home to him what must it be to her? How could he expect her to pick everything up and go with him even if they would be coming back?
He turned his head back to her his ears straining for every little sound she might make, “Milady I…” he hesitated, this was crazy why even bother asking. “would you Come with me? To Ista? To see the sunset from the cliffs and here the songs of the ocean?” his ears strained as his arms tightened but his fist did not he would scare her away again, he was moving to fast, she would push him away again… “I mean… never mind,” he tried to smile to make right what he had done wrong, “I will be back soon and… and…” but he couldn’t hold it, “I just don’t want you to be alone.” He looked down again further down but not away wanting to hide his face again. “I want to stay with you.”

Apri’s breath was caught in her throat as she realized that he had in fact asked exactly what she had originally thought. The idea of leaving the hold… it terrified her… but at the same time a womans voice rang thru her mind, reminding her of how much she needed to work on her people skills… She wanted to be a harper… more than anything in the world… If one day she was to become one, she must get use to the idea of travel… that was, after all, the next step in her training… they did not call them journey men for staying home…
His words… he wanted to be with her… he didn’t want her to be alone… Never before had she heard those words and she was not sure if it was good or bad… but she recognized similar feelings in her own heart and she couldn’t see how it would be bad if they both agreed… neither wanted to see the other go. And the sunset…
“If… If you think I would turn down a chance to see such a sunset that you would speak so highly of… your Ista sunset… then you are crazy…” she said, a true smile slowly growing on her face. If she had to learn to leave the hold, what better way than to learn with Killian helping her along the way.
“Besides… Master Ayala said I needed to work on my ‘people skills’… what better way than to meet new people..” as cheerful as she tried to sound about such a learning experience, a wince could be heard in her voice. She’d rather stay home… but for her dream… for Killian… she would do so.

A true smiled lit up his face at her words as his expression was gentle as his voice and thankful, “just call me Crazy Killian…” he laughed lightly running his hand though his hair and showing his face again. It felt like an enormous wait was lifted from his shoulders as his fingers felt the itch to play, play out his happiness. But she could not hide the flinch in her voice from him; he knew her too well by now and his ears where too good for that.
His expiration still soft he leaned down a little binging himself only a few inches closer, still relatively fare away but closer then before. “you don’t have to go Apriucs… but if you do know that I won’t let anything happen to you.” He had made a promise and he sat straight again all humor in his voice as he puffed out his chest, “besides there is room for more scars should the occasion prop up.” He flinched folding again but laughing. “I’m kidding, nothing will happen wile I am there, and we will see the sunset together, and you can tell me how it compares to here.” They would be together, all the way, he would not have to worry about her alone here just as she would not have to worry about no one being there to protect her ever again.

Apri found her worries strangely lifted as a smile, a true smile that was rare upon Killian’s face lit it up like the sun. Crazy Killian… she silently tucked the name away for use later on, she had a feeling it would be a fun one to bring up again.
Watching him move a little closer, she leaned back against her heels unconsciously, but did not take her eyes off of his as she spoke. Laughing softly as he puffed out his chest, she frowned slightly thru her smile as he flinched in pain.
“Oh I’m not worried…” she half-lied. She knew he’d be there, he’d already proven that, but she’d never be able to completely stop worrying. “And you need to stop acting all big and brave, I know it hurts you… I have eyesight, unlike some… I can see it.” she said half poking fun at Killian and half reprimanding the masters.
Lifting a hand, she pointed to his own even though he could not see the movement. “Speaking of which… your hand is bleeding again… Should I… Should I get a healer? It should probably be rewrapped before we attempt to do any playing… I want you to heal properly.” she said lightly even though she was actually worried. It was never a good thing when a Harper hurt his hands…

She was lying, he could tell, but he was not going to call her on it he was to happy to argue and he couldn’t expect her to respect his little worries if he could not do the same for her. So he just smiled sighing and resting his good… well better hand on his ribs. “You see right through me. Unlike the others.” When she had first mentioned her being able to see he though she was talking about him but realized just after that she was referencing the masters. “They aren’t all bad you know and after what I did.” He flinched again as he started to unwrap his hand the bandages sticking to his bleeding and healing flesh.
“I can’t really blame them.” He sighed as he pulled off he last bit setting it on the table fare from his precious guitar. “at least they tried me like they would anyone else, I was almost afraid they would let me off on a technicality.” He said the last word with a bit of disgust. This was not the first fight he had been in though this was by far the worst. He had had bullies since he had come to the hall and since then he had always fought back but where other kids would be reprimanded he was excused on the count of his blindness.
He tried to stand only to plop back down in his seat with a grown as he clenched his sides again, “your right perhaps I shouldn’t be so tough.” His smiled was rueful as he flinched again. “I’m sorry to ask you this Apricus but there are some clean bandages and a small vile of Nubweed in the cabinet behind you. Could you grab them for me? There is no need to call a healer when there is music to be played, the best medicine of all.” he had kept them there since he had played his fingers raw last, such things might not bother him but it seemed to bother her and he wanted to be prepared just incase.

Apricus wondered why he’d was afraid of being let off on technicality, whatever that was, but she was too distracted by his hands to question it. Watching him attempt to stand only sit down again with a groan, she was standing in a flash with a frown on her face.
“Of course I’m right.” she said with a smile moving to the cabinet he spoke of. Finding the items immediately, she walked back to Killian, pausing as she looked at his bloodied hands. “Killian… do me a favor… next time you decide to punch the wall… attempt to make it a little less bloody…” she said softly as she swallowed. She had seen enough blood in the past seven-day to last her a lifetime.
Setting the numbweed and bandages next to him on the table, she tapped it next to them. “Here they are…” she said as she took a step back to find a chair for herself, trying not to let the blood capture her mind again… She didn’t know why it always hypnotized her so, but she had decided that she didn’t like it.

Killian only laughed, making his side hurt worse as his laugh was interrupted with the occasional ‘ow’. “Your right your right, stop making me laugh it hurts…” but that only made him laugh more. He got a grip on himself with a few deep breaths, as he wasn’t sure what hurt more his ribs his hand or his pride. Smiling his thanks he waited for her to move away before reaching for the jar and bandages. Opening the lid he proceeded to rub the numweed on the exposed flesh fining all of the parts that hurt and effectively numbing them. “Too bad this stuff doesn’t work inside.” He was referring to his ribs as he tried to find a position to sit that didn’t hurt so much.
With surprisingly practiced hands he managed to find the end of the bandages and cowardly wrap his own hand. It was not a pretty job but it would work. He talked as he moved tying off the last note and placing the jar aside to pick up his guitar. “I hope you don’t mind me reverting back to the way I first learned to play? Its easier on the hands…” instead of placing the strap around his shoulders and holding the guitar as he had instructed her he placed it on his lap balancing it on his knees before fingering the frets he needed. This way he only used the tips of his fingers rather then the palms to hold it up.
He slid his hand over the strings again making that humming sound he loved so much, “ah if anything can make me forget about the pain it’s a good song with a marvelous singer.” He grinned so she knew the complement was for her, as all of them where. “So should we try broken first? It is only fitting considering my broken condition…”

Watching Killian laugh, she found her uneasiness at the sight of blood settle. Hearing his words, she turned to find him shifting slightly in his seat. ‘They must really hurt…’ she thought to herself as she moved the new-found chair to the position across from him that they usually played in. Sitting in it, she watched as he finished his hand.
As he asked about using a different position, she nodded for him to go ahead, forgetting that he could not see. It didn’t matter, however, as he went into the position anyways. Looking at it interested, she put his other guitar around her own shoulders and held it the way he had taught her.
Hearing the complement, she blushed slightly but said nothing about it. “Broken would fit nicely I think.” she said with a smile, letting her own fingers slide across the strings to check its tone. It was just as she had left it before the trial. Smiling, she waited for Killian to begin.

Killian smiled briefly at her before focusing on the music, it had been a wile since he had played this way, it was designed for him and his blindness. He had abandoned it out of pure stubbornness to play it the way everyone else did. But as he started it all came back to him and he had no problem working though the song. It hurt at first, breathing and singing from the diaphragm, but as the song went on and more followed he grew accustom to the pain and he pushed it away. By the end he didn’t even notice it, until he tried to get up again.
He put his guitar back on the table and moved to stand only to grown again. He did not sit back down though pushing though the uncomfort into a standing position, and stretching his tired arms. It was dark outside and getting darker though he didn’t notice or even guess. Smiling down at Apricus he moved gingerly to put his guitar away saying only, “that was a good practice.” It was almost like nothing had happened, like she hadn’t said she would leave with him even if it was just for a little wile.
But he had not forgotten his mind was still racing, with the music over and the trial finally out of his mind it was sinking in, she would be coming with him halfway around the world for a month at least. His back to her his voice was soft, “you know… you don’t have to go if you don’t want to… you… I…” he wanted her to go, he wanted to be by her side to protect her always, but, “I don’t want to force you into anything you don’t want to do… I just… I just want to make you happy, protect you.” Blame it on the songs that was it, they where love songs and singing them like that had messed with his head… that was it… but there was that way her voice, even when not singing, made his heart skip a beat.

The songs were beautiful, just as before. A slight trace of something could be heard in Killian’s voice and Apri could only guess it was due to the pain in his chest. As long as he didn’t mention it, however, she was not going to bring it up. That was his choice to make.
Looking up to find him standing, she returned his smile. “Yes, it was…” she said as she watched him turn his back to her curiously. His voice growing soft, she found herself confused at his words.
“Didn’t you ask me to go with you?...” she returned in an equally soft voice as she crossed her legs in her chair and rested the guitar on top of them. “I told you I would… And that is what I am going to do… Besides, you promised me a sunset.” she said, hoping to calm his nerves as much as her own.

That was what he needed more then anything, she really did want to come, she wasn’t just saying that to make him feel better at the time, she really wanted to be with him. He turned back around guitar in hand as he smiled down at her, almost as though he could see her but his clouded piercing eyes gave away that ruse. “Thank you Apricus… for everything…” he sighed moving for the door and holding it open. Once the door was open his demeanor changed slightly, the mask was back though it wasn’t hiding anything painful, other then the physical pain of moving, and the formality was back. “Shall I escort you to the cross roads Milady?” he wanted to be with her as long as possible, just to be in her presence, even if he would never each out for her, would be enough for him.

Walking thru the door, she paused just outside it as her stomach growled audibly. Thinking back, she realized that she hadn’t eaten since breakfast the day before, fatigue, the trial and practice all distracting her from such simple tasks. Turning back around, she looked up at Killian wondering if he had already eaten… But then again the trial had been far earlier in the day and she had been with him since…
“Actually… I think I might get something to eat… Would you like to come with me?... I know you haven’t eaten since the trial either…”

Killian smirked as her stomach growled audibly opening his mouth to say something witty he was interrupted by his own stomach joining hers in chorus. Laughing again he let the door fall closed and ran his good hand though his hair, “Yes I do believe lunch… diner is in order.” He corrected himself quickly realizing what time it must be even if he didn’t know exactly. “it seems our stomachs are jealous of such lovely singing, and I know the only way to appease mine is with food.” He rubbed his belly before smiling again and starting off down the hall.
How many times had they walked this way together? Mostly for lunch but each time felt like the first but this one was different. So much had happened is such a short amount of time, he had fought for her and she had waited beside him as he tried not to wake. She had stood up for him at his trial and now she was going to come home with him, making the long journeying away from the hall and all that was familiar to see a sunset he had promised.
They made there way silently down to the nearly empty dining room, it wasn’t until they got there that it really hit Killian on how late it was. To keep his mind off of what had happened the last time he was down here and the whispers that where following him he smiled down at her again saying so light hearted that it made the whisperers scowl, “it seems we have missed the diner rush… I hope they have more left for us.” But as much as his mask hid he could not help but listen to the whispers, the masters had been right when they said rumors needed to settle.

Apri joined in with Killian’s laughter as she followed him down the hall. It seemed every time food was mentioned Killian was making some joke about his stomach. She found it all very amusing.
As they entered the hall, her skin instantly rose in goose-bumps as the eyes reached her and Killian. It was worse than normal… far worse… Was it because of that night… Even if her ears were not as well tuned as Killian’s she could see their faces… their glaring eyes…
Walking to the table of food, she grabbed a small portion silently before turning to Killian again as he picked up his own meal straight from the cook. “Ready?” she asked attempting a smile, she lead the way to their usual table, taking her usual seat before Killian could pull it out for her. He didn’t need to be worrying about her chair when he was having a hard enough time moving.
Glancing around at the staring eyes again, she looked down trying to concentrate on the food wishing for some sort of distraction for either her mind or the eyes of the people in the room. She found herself slightly envious again of Killian’s lack of sight… He was lucky to not be able to see their eyes…
